In this code, flex will pop alert to screen and immediately send out the request. How do I wait until user clicks ok on the alert and then send out the request?
I am experiencing some failures with FMS 3.5.1. Searched the logs and it appears the following error repeats itself more than 20 times per second in the admin logs: Failed to wait for process condition: errno(22).
So I'd like to get my SWF to respond to the user when they just type a word. For example, when they type "hello" , my SWF does some action.
Most of the stuff I've seen is entering text into a text field and then pressing the Enter key or clicking a button.
What I'd like is to type a secret code word and then some easter egg happens. No button clicks, etc. I thought maybe a key listener but that's only one key, how do I get it to work with a whole word?
I'm writing a movie scene in AS3, and I hit a snag. I have a movie where the dialogue is advanced by the user pressing a button (the space bar). I have a speak function which prints out the dialogue to a dynamic text box. However, if I type in this:
speak(1, "Hello world!"); speak(2, "Hello back to you as well.");
Then, my first speak function is immediately overwritten by my second one...because they run at the same time. I'm not using the timeline so, I can't put a stop() function in or anything. I'm doing it all in ActionScript.
Is there a way to pause the movie and wait for the user to press the spacebar before loading up the second function. I was thinking of nesting functions to do it, but that seems overly complicated since I'll have nearly 20 lines of dialogue nested within one another in between moving my sprites around.
I am trying to automate the input process so that when a user inputs 3 numbers into the first field, it automatically jumps to the next one. I have the code to do it and it seems as though it should work but, for some reason, when I move focus from one field to the next the data in the previous field is re-arranged so that the last character input becomes the first (610 becomes 061 - for example). Here is my code:
Is there a way for flash to detect a user's bandwidth, and depending the size of bandwidth, stop loading, or continue with the load? Now that I'm thinking about it, this would probably be a javascript detection script and if the bandwidth is high, load .swf, if not load a .jpg?
i am working on a survey form in MX-04 Pro. I have the main .swf file embedded in an HTML page. The document's width is longer than the viewable screen so the person taking the survey has to scroll down to answer the remaing questions and hit the "continue" button to proceed to the next page/frame in the movie. When the user hits the "continue" button the next frame in the movie appears but the HTML page is still scrolled to the bottom. Is there any ActionScript I can inclued in the frame or continue button to make the movie/survey appear at the top of the html page when the user hits the "continue" button?#2
Is it possible to make the items in a List component sort randmoly? or maybe alternate between "ASC" & "DESC" order? Furthermore, there would be an "Other" option included in my list but I would like that to remain at the bottom of the list while the other items in the list were sorted randomly?
I was wondering if anyone has any input on my question.I've been trying to figure out for a few hours now how to make words or sentences animate in and "pause" for a few seconds (for the user to read) and then continue to play. I know I can tween it, but I wanted to do it via actionscript. I got it to animate in and come out but i couldn't figure out how to have it hold for a few sec. I will have more than one sentence animate in and out.
step1- I got an xml that is locally loaded(works fine) step2- the content goes into a datagrid that is displayed (works fine) step3- In AS3 I dynamically add some lines to this xml file(works fine) step4- I save it locally (works fine) step5-and want the datagrid to be updated..(works not-so-well)
So, in step 4, the data is saved into the xml file, but in order to finish the save, the user has to click on the "Save as" windows in order to have the file updated of course.. and that's where's my problem, how can i tell flash to wait till the user actually saves the file, before reload the xml file in the datagrid ? here's the code :
i have in my program few swf files and using mxmlc i compile the application into one swf file. when i open the swf from the output directory(just dbl click) everything works fine. But, when i copy the directory to another location in the hardisk the application stops responding (i can see my swf main picture and its buttons in it. But, when i click a button which just popup a message, it doesn't work!) Note: any location in my workspace, the swf still works fine. But when moving out the workspace it fails
I'm using Flex 3.5 and I have a Text object with an anchor set in the htmlText property. The link only works on every other click. Is this a known problem in Flex?I've done a simple case and I've found out that I get this problem when the htmlText is inside a TabNavigator object. If it's outside it works as expected.
I've created a custom component based on Image component. I want to teach it to respond to change of binded variable. E.g. if main class has a variable balance, I want the component to change image in case balance = 100 one image, in case balance = 50 to another.[code]...
I have a Flex AIR2 application which uses native process to run CMD.exe. Application running fine on WinXP, Win R 2008 server. But not running on VISTA 64 bit OS. Flex not able to run CMD.exe when application installed in C:Program Files (x86). When I run application as Administrator mode it is working fine. Below is my code, I want to start cmd.exe as Administrator.
I have been making a simple aplication and i have a problem i cannot find the solution (neither why it is happening) The thing i want to do is to dynamically add a canvas containing a button to the application and then i want the canvas to be moved from the left side of screen to the right. So i have made the following code
I would like to create some text on the stage that does not respond to mouse activity. I've found that after adding a piece of text to a class I am using to draw, it covers up some of the mousing area of my class and disables the user from being able to roll over the other graphical elements...
Is there something like:
var t:TextField = new TextField(); t.text = "hello"; t.active = false; //
i know that this is wrong, but I haven't found an equivalent method
I posted the same question but I think it was not so clear. Now I am rephrasing my question with real problem.I have a flex application. It is basically a web application. On it I have a player that play avi files and some buttons and tabs along side. The application also have recording button that records that direct stream from an IP cam and store that stream on the media (USB). How can I automate function testing of such application. Like I have confusion that when I press the recording button but can I be sure that recording starts? I have tried RIATest and flexUnit 4.
I got a for/foreach loop the calls a function inside of it. The prolem is that the function being-called doesnt fininsh it's job before the loop goes over again/ Here is my code:
[Code].....
As you can see i want to add an item (notfriend) in MYFRIENDS unction, "notfriend" is defined inside the loop, but by the time "MYFRIENDS" function finish loading the item already changes to the next item even though i was originally refering to the previous item. Is there a way to maybe hold the FORloop until "myfriends" function finish loading.
I wanted to use Eventlistener on "myfriends" function , but then what do i do to stophold the loop? all i know is BREAK-which destroyes the FOR-LOOP and CONTINUE-which continue the loop from the next iterate.
if someone presses ctrl +alt +delete or any kind of shutdown hook from any os and delete the flex process from task manager then how can i track from that flex process application that killing that flex process was activated so i like to do some processing before killing this process.
I create a Flex Desktop App by Flex builder 4. I want to log some debug info into a file , named by process id //var pid:int = NativeApplication.nativeApplication.getPid() ?? var logFile:String = "/var/log/MyApp_"+pid+".log"; Is these any API to get pid in Flex/ActionScript3?
It could run a native process in an adobe air application by enable extendedDesktop. But if create an flex library, does it support running an native process. If yes, how to configure it?
I'm looking for suggestions regarding implementing process flow / work flow management in a PureMVC based application. Our Flex application includes a number of processes such as account creation, payment processing, etc. Within our team, there is some discussion of how rigidly we should adhere to the PureMVC model. Within the PureMVC model, it seems reasonable that the current state in the process could be managed in a Proxy. Commands are clearly responsible for processing the actions required of each node and for node transitions. Mediators for managing the UI.
However, I think that there is an important bit still missing here: a ProcessController. The approaches we've reviewed all seem to either violate the PureMVC model (even just slightly) or make unreadable code. A proxy would maintain the state of the process. As such, it seems to be an appropriate way to implement the controller. However, this is putting a lot of business logic into the proxy.
I have a child component that dispatches an event in Parent. The event in parent makes a call to our database. Right now, the event gets fired off & the child continues without the results. How do I make it so that the child waits for the results from the database b/f the child continues?
in child: <fx:Script> <![CDATA[ dispatchEvent(new Event("getDBcontents")); //
dispatch the event in the parent do some more stuff here but we need pause until we get the result from the parent
I've noticed that, recently, builds in FlexBuilder have been taking much, much longer than they used to (30 or 40 seconds, as opposed to 3 or 4). What is the simplest way of profiling these builds to figure out what is taking so much time?
I developing an AIR application in Flex that would be dealing with playing different SWFs. I am finding some issues as these SWFs that I am playing are heavy. I find that the animation is not smooth and is causing the graph of CPU usage to go high (my be because single thread architecture of Flex). I am therefore planning to have a multi process architecture for my application. Something like Google Chrome. I have one main application as one process and other SWFs would be playing in separate process but should be seen inside the main application window. How to make it possible in Flex?
What is the best solution for multi threading in flex, I notice if I play a mp3 in flex and do something else at the same time something ends up giving out, either the song stops playing or the UI hangs for about a split second. It doesn't have that fluid response that I am looking to achieve. If possible I would like to call a multi threaded java class to do some of the client-side end back end processing. I just don't know if that is possible.
