using pencil tool inside flash i can create stippled line style, well, im using graphics.lineTo(mouseX, mouseY) to create a drawing API but i need use some in this line a style like stippled stroke, or if is possible use stroke ( and how ) to make the same line using stippled style?
How to custom this line?

If I skin a button and use the AS3 graphice.clear() and graphics.lineTo and beginFill to create a shape, the button overlaps other items in the container.
When I use the and mxml to create the same shape, the button is neatly positioned inside the container.

I am trying to draw a� line from x1, y1 to x2,y2 and i want it to be a line that repeats a pattern from an image. All I can see is that you can only draw lines and change their color or thickness but I would like it to repeat an image. Is that possible or do i have to use a really long and thin rectangle with a bitmap fill?The problem is I am making a game where the user will be able to actually draw the line so i have to make it be created dynamically. The game fantastic contraption [URL] has in the game a feature where you draw lines of any length and position that are filed with a picture.

I have a Custom Component that has a couple of Canvas with some background colors assigned to them. Now i have hard coded the colors, i want to move them to an external css file. So i would like to have the css declaration like this :

is it possible to align the stroke of a graphic with actionscript? for example, the following code creates a black rounded rect with a grey stroke that is automatically centre aligned.

the lineStyle function doesn't seem to offer any built-in functionality for aligning the stroke. in Adobe Illustrator, you can align a stroke to be either centre (half in/half out of the fill), inside (bordering within the fill) or outside. (bordering outside the fill).

I'm trying to set up a timer with custom graphics (MovieClips) and I've basically got it to work, but it's acting really strange! I have two MC's on stage, named "secs_0" & "secs_1". They're both instances of another MC ("numbers"), which contain 10 frames with one digit on every frame (0 - 9). The weird thing is that the counter starts from 87! When the actual value of maxTime is 97... Also, when it reaches 80, 70 etc... it pauses and starts again at 78, 68... Here's the code

I am trying to create a custom object which will display particular graphics at a particular time (when the movie tells the object to show something). Well I made my object (the way I thought it would work) and I encountered a problem when I called graphics functions from the main movie.
I made a very stripped down version of the same object to test and see what was going wrong. Apparently, I can call "Draw()" directly from inside the constructor and it will use the draw methods, but I cannot call it from the movie (like in the script below) and I can't call it from another function in the object if that function is not called during the constructor.
The question is... am I doing this right? The simple version of my end goal would be to create this object and have a function that I can call in the object something like "DrawImage(imagePath:String)" and it will use the graphics to draw the image.

I'm having trouble changing the font size of my TextInput tooltip. The text input looks like this:

then I create a style like this:

P.S. I also get a yellow warning: "CSS type selectors are not supported in components: 'mx.controls.ToolTip'" but it still compiles since it's just a warning, but nothing happens.

I am using stringValidator component in flex.

It is working properly but problem is that I have applied borderSkin on ToolTip in my default styleSheet which change the appearance of the message by the validator.

Now I want that this borderSkin should not be applied on my stringValidator.

There's some custom namespaces in my Flex project, as well as the usual namespaces like "mx" and "s". I'd like to use getStyleDeclaration on a style that's in a custom namespace, and I can't seem to figure out the proper syntax.My stylesheet looks partially like this:
.WidgetTitle

fontWeight: bold;
}

If I try the same thing with a custom namespace, it outputs null:
trace(styleManager.getStyleDeclaration("myNamespace|ScaleBar")); // output: null
I've tried all the combinations I can think of: "myNamespace|ScaleBar", "myNamespace.ScaleBar", "myNamespace ScaleBar" etc and I can't find any documentation on how to do this.

So as far as I can tell list-style-image (or any list-style at that) is not one of the available css properties enabled with a TextField.I want to have a list of items with bullets in front of them, but using a custom png image for the bullet.

I was wondering about MC and hey can help to lag a game out. I set up an advanced class system so i don't have to use MC to simulate walls, all i use isthe x,y,width and height. Well anyway since i don't need MC anymore I was wondering if there is a way to attach Graphics instead of MC cause a Graphics file size is relatively small than that of a graphic, I think. If anyone could tell me thats true and show me a way to attach graphics that would be nice. I haven't tried it yet but maybe if I exported the graphic from the library imihgt be able to call its name, but it doesn't have an instance name so im stuck.

Download the attached file and test it. Wait a few seconds, maybe 10-20 sec, and then se the a bug appear. It looks nice, but why? I was just playing around with lineTo and then i saw this... What do you think ?

I am making a demo where an object is moved around the screen with a line tracing its movement. The speed of this noticeably slows down over time. I tried it both with an enterFrame and by setting an interval. I imagine it has something to do with the graphics class vector drawing and garbage collection. Here is a simplified version for demo/testing. If you run it you will see the line drawing slow down over time. Is there a way to achieve it without the slow down?
I read somewhere of a technique where you use the bitmap data class to draw on a stage-sized bitmap.(I've never programmed the bitmap data class before).

I have been working on a drawing "game" in my spare time (which is limited). This is probably a common question, if so I appologize. By the way, I do not have the code here, it is on my other computer. Anyway, I was using the lineTo method and a timer listener to fire the addition of each new line segment, if that makes sense. The problem is that when you try to draw an arc quickly, it looks terrible. It draws straight lines. I tried adjusting the timer, which helps a bit but still not great. I looked at the curveTo but could not figure out a logical way to get the achor coordinates. I did some research online and found some that use addChild with bitmaps. I would rather use lines. Has anyone tackled this before?

I've got a movieclip of a rectangle in my library which I place on stage to attachMovie. Then I create an empty movieclip which I want to use as a mask on that rectangle clip through setMask. Users kan draw into that empty movieclip. My intention is that only those areas of the rectangle clip become visible where the user is drawing a line. So I used this:
