ActionScript 3.0 :: How To Place A Variable Within A Tween
Sep 15, 2009
I have a variable called 'total' that gives me the instance name of the button I roll over.I want to get that answer and place it in the tween's y start and end position so when I roll over the button the textMovieClip moves accordingly
This is sort of difficult to explain but I'll do my best. I've got 6 score variables that go up over time.
[Code]...
Each corresponds to a different color of "Monster" class I reated. "GreenMonster", "BlueMonster", etc. are all custom classes. Each class has a string property called "MonsterColor". So "Blue1.MonsterColor = "Blue".
To save lines of code, and learn, I'm trying to use a local string variable to take the place of whichever of these 6 int variables I need. So inside a for loop, I've created a variable called "colorscore".
I want to move a movie clip from startx and starty to endx and endy using AS but have it calculate the smallest distance and move the MC at a set speed accordingly so both X and Y stop in the right place at the same time. In other words I want a small script to act like i have just tweened a MC.
Tween: MC _X=0 MC _Y=0 Create Motion tween on frame 0 move on 50 frames Create Motion tween on frame 50 set the _X from 50 to 100 set the _Y from 50 to 200 play()
The movie clip moves to frame 50 but the _X moves at a slower speed than the Y because it has less distance to travel. How this is done in AS with a startX of 0 and a startY of 0 end X of 100 and an end Y of 200.
I used the liquid Flash layout file from this site , but i got one problem.I placed the script in a layer called actionscript and on frame 1, under it there is a other layer called background. I placed in just a square with a gradient color and made it a movieclip. I also placed this on frame 1. Everything is working perfect from this point but when i want to place a keyframe on frame 10 in the background layer and make a motion tween so that the background fades in from 0 opacity to 100, it doesn't work.
I had to convert an AS2 clicktag script to AS3. It complies and works locally, but I was told I need to use the FlashVars to embed/place a variable (a URL) in the swf before it even starts.This is something I haven't experimented with (yet)I've seen examples and I kind of understand it, but I was hoping on some clarification
var flashVars=root.loaderInfo.parameters;
I understand the dot synatx (enjoy using it), and the root is probably the begining (where it will place the sting) Im a bit confussied on the loaderinfo and the parameters what are here functions in the command.
var clickTAG = flashVars["clickTAG"];
then using the flashVars Im unsure on the use of square brackets (instead of using curly braces)Best guess:This will take the string passed to it "a url" clickTAG and use the flashvars to embed/place it in the root/begining tagged as "clickTAG"?
This is probably something very simple that I just can't seem to get to work. Basically I'm trying to use a variable to be called inside of an array instead of the actual array so a simple example would be
Code: var people:Array = [john,tom,ann]; var selected = john; trace(people[selected]);
I get an error everytime I try to use a variable in place of and actual element
How to make this smoke effect work without mouse input. I am trying to have it spill from the end of a cannon, & my attempts to modify the position have resulted in all my bitmaps shifting. I changed this doTrail(_root, _xmouse, _ymouse, currentBitmap); To this doTrail(_root, _x=80, _y=100, currentBitmap); [Code] .....
I need to use tween alpha, but I want to change the duration of the tween with some buttons. Does anybody have any suggestion or example?I think that it is possible if I use variable for the duration and create a new Number by each button, but I don't know how. The tween is as below:var TweenPulseA:Tween = new Tween (right_mc, "alpha", None.easeOut, right_mc.alpha, 1, pd, true);
I am creating a load of tween classes, but the outcome of the tween, the "end" variable, depends on a users action, e.g. a combo box selection...How can I feed this through into the end variable in the tween class.THis was my educated guess, but it doesn't want to work?...
ActionScript Code: my_Combobox.addEventListener(Event.CHANGE, Asizes); var CanvasType:String
I'm a few days into learning flash AS3 and I'm stuck. So i have movie clip that is made up of smaller clips, and I want to change the opacity of one of the sub clips. Here's my code so far
//MOUSE OVER EVENTS FOR PORTFOLIO ENTRIES function entryOver(evtObj:MouseEvent):void {
This is my first time working with flash and actionscript. when my project increased in size, it became frustrating to look through 2 or 3 hundred lines of code to find my mistakes. I decided to code in frames, so that one animation or movieclip could be handled by each frame, making it easy to edit each individually. So far so good, but i am trying to reuse a tween from an earlier frame, and it doesn't seem to work. I was under the impression that if you define a variable in a previous frame, you can use it in a later frame.
here's what it looks like
(frame 5) var closeMenu:Tween = new Tween(mainMenu_mc, "x", Strong.easeOut, 238, 900, 3, true);
there is a frame in between that does: gotoAndStop(20);I want the animation to start right when it gets to frame 20:
(frame 20) closeMenu.start(); TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.
I can copy and paste the original var and change the name from closeMenu to, say, closeMenu2 and it will work fine, but I feel like what I did should work.
I have several objects referencing one value in a number, and I need to tween this number but I cant figure out how.I'll use whatever, the built in tweens or tweener or anything.I cant figure out how to reference the value of the variable, since its not a display object and you cant just say myDisObj.y or something like that.If theres no way to do this i'll just have all of the display objects reference from one's property.
working on my website and I'm trying to figureout how to go about creating a script the moves an item based on system time. Basically I need a Sun Mclip to move based on time, to create a sunrise and sunset based on the actual sunset and sunrise time.
Does anyone know whether it would be possible to set a motion path for a movie clip and to have the speed of the tween set as a variable which can be increased or decreased by the user during the movie?
i tried it all but cant solve it on my own. i have 10 different MC,s. they shall appear by hitting a key on the keyboard. all i want them to appear and play on a random place.
all then 10 MC,s are deticated to 10 different keys on the keyboard. (so by hitting the "A" on the keyboard shall place and play MC "A" at a random place..
Now I am using the Tween Class to move some boxes in my movie, now I can move the first mc and then another mc after the first tween has finished with onMotionFinished but I was hoping someone could help with how do I start the second tween when the first mc has passed a certain _x coordinate. ie starting the second mc moving while the first tween is still moving.
If i have a clip with a bunch of stuff inside it (on layers) like other clips, bitmaps, etc. and perform a tween on that clip (via tween class), the stuff inside the clip seems to alpha at different rates.
For instance, i have a clip with an empty movieclip which loads a bitmap image and on top of the bitmap image, i have a gradient feathered edge (.png) bitmap and on top of that I have some dynamic text (embedded fonts).
The bitmap is supposed to create a feathered edge on the photo but since they alpha at different rates, you always see the hard edge of the photo...
is there a solution like cacheAsBitmap which would let the whole clip alpha at once? If it's cacheAsBitmap, i must be using it incorrectly, b/c it's not working!
I will have three seperate pages for the motion tween, mask effect and shape tween... would you make the seperately, in a different scene, as a symbol or on the same scene with the website.
my movieclip button was working perfectly as a motion tween. Can you use shape tweens as movie clip buttons? I just made that change, and kept my code:
I am facing a problem in one of my animation with flash CS4 - I have nested a Shape Tween in a Motion tween to get more control over the easers and effects, unfortunately I am not able to view on the timeline of my Motion Tween the action of the Shape tween nested inside.
It only show the first shape of the Shape Tween during the entire Motion Tween and that is really a problem for me because I need to see the final frame result of that Shape tween to be able to position it in a precise way on my scene according to other instances.
Am trying to use the Tween class to scale and move a movieclip. Now the movieclip is within the loader, so I need the motion to be controlled by the percentage loaded. Now the code to move the movieclip to its final position is:
var xscaletween:Tween = new Tween(mstone, "_xscale", Regular.easeOut, mstone._xscale, 220, 6, true);
But this is the final location, I want to be able to change the properties of xscaletween, yscaletween, xmovetween and ymovetween as per percentage loaded.As in, within this final boundary limit of the tween, I want, for example, xscaletween, to scale only till 140 till percentage hits 50. Is this possible?? If not is there a workaround?Or do I have to use new tweens within each percentage limit?
