ActionScript 3.0 :: Loading Multiple Swf's In Runtime And Playing Them One After Other
May 25, 2009
loading multiple swf's as a playlist and playing them one after other on top of the other, so here even we have to play with display list for the visiblity. Tried to load single files but not getting for multiple files, what will be the event with which the dynamically loaded swf switch to other. These file names will be mentioned in XML file.
I'm currently planning out the UI for a game with a complex UI system. I have done some runtime sharing tests using fonts that are setup for sharing in one fla, and I've setup the import in another. Both files are exported as swc files and are included in the flash develop project (the font is included completely). This worked fine. What I would like to do is have my UI loaded on-demand. I was planning to have a general UI elements library that contains elements setup for sharing (similar to the font), then have separate swfs that are loaded into the main swf when they are needed. These separate swfs would use elements from the shared library. I can get this to work exclusively in the IDE, or exclusively on the server, but not both (making development awkward).
The big stumbling block I'm hitting is to do with setting up the URL paths.I think that all of the runtime paths will be based on the running 'Main' swf location. So all import/export paths need to use paths that work from this root location.for example 'data/ui/top_ui.swf' might import objects from 'ui_elements.swf' (effectively 'data/ui/ui_elements.swf'). This import will function fine when testing from the IDE, but when running on the server, this will fail as it will try to load 'ui_elements.swf' from the root folder. Worse still, it will not fire an error (as it has found 'top_ui.swf' fine) but the load will never complete as it cannot find the runtime swf.
The reason for this folder structure is that we would really prefer to keep our assets in a folder that could in theory be re-located to another server (should the bandwidth usage dictate it). To put these ui swfs in their own folder then causes all the linkage to break in the Flash IDE making editing a kludge. Fix it in the IDE and it will no longer function on load.At the moment it looks like we will just have to export swc files and embed the lot in the main swf to keep this easy for code and art.
I've multiple FLV files, and during run time based on the user's selection i need to combine and merge multiple FLV files into single FLV file and play to the user.so far we are using as playlist with different flv files, but now we need to change the process. Can any one know how can i merge different FLV files during run time and play/download the file in single shot.
i am developing a photogallery with picts of different width.there's nothing with it,but i am trying to make an element which is more of a design nature. So i have an invisible mc/say "bbb" which is duplicated each time a new photo is loaded and its _x depends on the photos _width and the distance between the photo and the end of the screen regulates how many times "bbb" is duplicated. So on every new photo i got /possibly/ diferent number of instances with diferent _x.Still no poblem. But i want to put an bbb_dups.onRollOver=func(){if (this._x=curr_x){ tween(this._x+30)}else if (this._x=curr_x+30){ tween(backto curr._x)} so i need somehow to store each instances curr._x after the duplication which i dont know how.i've tried with an array but it doesn't seem to work for all the instances.
I save my (embedded) fonts in an external file (fonts.swf) that gets loaded at runtime. Pretty standard. I also use a bunch of UI artwork generated in the Flash IDE. Some of this artwork contains static textfields (thus, not proper TextFields that can change. Just frozen glyphs). Here's the problem: if I use the same font in any static textfield and then embed that same font into my collection of runtime fonts, the runtime font will refuse to render. It's the same effect you get if you set a textfield with embeddedFonts=true to use a font that isn't embedded. If I change the static textfields to use a different font, the runtime fonts work just fine.
I'm trying to figure out if we can use RSLs to contain common UI controls for our next project. I'm running into an organizational issue that I can't quite figure out - how to get the RSLs to work in both a local development/debugging environment, and on a production web environment, with the same exporting/importing URLs.
Here's what my setup would look like. Say I have a main application main.swf, an RSL lib.swf, and a UI module dialog.swf.
Main.swf loads or embeds dialog.swf. lib.swf exports some symbols that dialog.swf imports.
On a local development environment, these swfs are found in folders like so:
[URL]
Here is the problem. If I set the export/import url for symbols in lib.swf to "assets/lib/lib.swf" (relative to the location of main.swf), the runtime library gets loaded fine in the local environment. But in the web environment, it does not load - the player just shows the "..." graphic indicating it is trying to load.
Alternatively, I can use "http:/myapp.com/assets/lib/lib.swf" as the export/import url. Now, it will work in the web environment. However, in the local environment, dialog.swf will load symbols from the lib.swf that is out on the web, not the one that is local. But I need it to load from the local version, so that designers can muck about with the assets and see the results locally before publishing to the web.
Is there some alternative way to set up the swf's, or way to set the URLs, or some other hoop I can jump through that will make the RSL load properly in either environment without having to manually change URLs all the time?
(Details: I am using Flash Builder 4, CS 5, Action Script 3, Flash Player 10... No Flex! My example omits some details from my actual setup, such as the fact that we are using a preloader to load the main application, and a php script on the web page to start the preloader.)
I have built a flash animation (for a web site) that requires a number of decent quality JPG images. I don't display all of these at the start, so I don't want to wait for them all to load before starting the animation. Thus I want to be able to load these images in the background - the obvious process would involve MovieClipLoader.loadClip() method. This works fine if I am loading into an INSTANCE of a moveclip (either existing on the stage or one that I creat in actionscript) - but I really want to load into a library movieclip.
The problem is that I end up using these images in two different movies on the stage - each pulls from a movieclip in the library (that contains the image I want). So my original thought was simply to load (using loadClip()) into the library movie - which in turn would show up in the two stage movieclips that have this library clip in the timeline. However, I cannot seem to get loadClip() to work with a library object.
I tried exporting the library movieclip to actionscript (giving it a name) - but loadClip() doesn't seem to want to load into it. I can only get loadClip() to load into an instance that exists on the stage.Sorry if I am asking a stupid question - I don't do a lot of flash programming - although I have extensive programming experience in other languages.
I followed Lee's "Runtime Font Loading" tutorial and got it to work, but where would I do the loading of the font in a MVC pattern. Model? View?I have a view loading creating an instance of a box class (TextField) for each item in an XMLList, then it adds it to the stage. I want the textField in the box class to use the runtime loaded font. I have no clue in what class to load it in co the box class has access to it.
To do this does it mean that I have to store them in another external location rather than my library and only load them when I need to use them from a URL request?
Posting this is my last resortI've spent the entire afternoon trying to figure this out. I'm to load a font at runtime using some updated code found here. The problem is no matter what I try I always get the following error:
TypeError: Error #2007: Parameter font must be non-null. at flash.text::Font$/registerFont() at cardmaker::FontLoader/fontLoaded()
which is saying that "FontLibrary._Bradley" is null in registerFont(); I know the swf exists on the server and the font symbol is being Exported for ActionScript with a class name and symbol name of both "_Bradley".
I'd like to know if there is any way or any vector graphic file format that i can load dynamically at runtime on a web-based flash application.I have some files in pdf that i want to load in and i can convert them to jpgs at runtime and load the jpgs but then i lose vector graphics so when i zoom in and out they become pixelated.
I had a look a look at flashpaper to convert pdf to swf and load them in but i can't see anywhere in the documentation about converting the pdf's at runtime rather than manually dragging and dropping them in.So far i've looked at pdf, svg and .ai but none of these can be loaded at run time just imported into the .So can this be done? Or alternatively is there an application that can do the pdf -> swf conversion from the commandline then i could trigger php to do the conversion at runtime.
Has anyone got any experience will loading SWC / SWZ's at runtime within a Flex 4 / Air 2 desktop application? The very rough idea would be to have a desktop Air app, which is able to "download" additional modules (eg, a SWZ/RSL representing a form) and load these at runtime?
Imagine the App is configured using an XML file obtained over the net. When this has instruction to get a new module (SWZ/RSL), the app will download the module to its App Storage folder, and instanciate it at runtime? The Flex Manual seems to indicate this is possible, but is talking web rather than desktop http:[url]....
I created few flex components in flash using flex component kit for flash. It generates a swf and a swc file. my question is, how can i load these flash created flex component at runtime and use them.
I was wondering is there a way to load images at run time that are loaded from an external webhost. Basically i want to be able to store the addresses of the images into an array and then each slide is going to contain 1 image, which will load the next image in the array when the user clicks the next button.
I'm fine with getting the array setup etc, but need to know is it possible to use web addresses and load images at runtime?? Aswell as defining a size and position for where the image will appear.
I'm not sure if Flash 8 supports this loading on the fly so the speak?? Basically I will update the images when required by replacing them with the same name and address where the photos are being hosted, but the program will still load from the same address, therefore showing the updated images.
Is it possible to load an external SWC file (at runtime) and place them at the stage? Is it possible to refer to them by strings? For example: var sprite = getExternalLibrarySprite("sprite_name")?
How do I manage that, while the movie starts, some parts of the Display List are "hold in the backhand" and get loaded when I decide that they should. Can I only do that via external SWF-Files? Further question: Is it possible to stream the files, by calculating the download speed and starting the movie when I want it to do, or is Flash doing that automatically
I am trying to build an application which has a flex front-end and a php back-end. I am struggling to do something with this application which I couldn't figure out a way to do. I would want my flex application to show a view based on an MXML it recieves from the server as a response to some interaction in the flex application. for example, lets say there are two buttons on the current view and if i press the first button, it will load one mxml/as3 from the server, and when i click the other, it will load a different mxml. How do you think i can tackle this situation? how to do this as i've been banging my head on the wall trying to figure out a way.
We have a large flash site which is translated into 11 languages. We have a font loading system whereby all the characters required to display the site in each language are embedded in external swfs (so 11 swfs).recent update to the site requires us to use the Text Layout Framework (TLF) for one area of text display, which of course only supports fonts embedded in the new CFF format. I've attempted to embed a second instance of the font using the tag embedAsCFF="true", and after loading in the font SWF I can see this font is correctly registered as it shows up in the array returned by Font.enumerateFonts.The TextFlow instance I am using has the following properties set:
According to the Adobe asdocs, Flex framework files are supposed to be able to be loaded at runtime. These localized framework files, the ones that exist at (on windows) C:Program Files (x86)AdobeAdobe Flash Builder 4.5sdks4.5.0frameworkslocale, are responsible for items such as button text on Alert Dialogs, and a host of other controls. My expectation is that once these framework files are loaded I would see these resources available in my Flex app.
I've set up my project as follows:
MyProject -src -Flex4.5 -Referenced Libraries
[code]....
Now the asdocs state that in order to do this, you have to set the compiler settings to read
which I have done.My Build Path Libraries for Flex 4.5 - C:Program Files (x86)AdobeAdobe Flash Builder 4.5sdks4.5.0 are set to be Runtime Shared library (of note, the {locale} subfolder says "Merged into code")
But when I change the language in the browser, I'm not seeing any of the framework resources. Also, when I build my project, I don't see any indication of the locale-oriented resource files in the bin-release. Since we only deploy the contents of the bin-release folder (and not the entire project), how is this supposed to work?I am also seeing .swz files in my bin-release (and I know these arent the localized framework resources).
Does anyone have any experience with Runtime Framework Localization?? What am I doing wrong? My expectation is that once I build my project (with the framework resources externalized) that the app would be able to load those resources, but this isn't happening and I am not interested in compiling a different version of my app for all of the locales I support.
I have been handed a project that was built to embed all assets at compile time and I need to update the app to load assets from a remote server instead. Right now everything is being embedded as follows:
[Embed(source="assets/gfx/tutorialBg.png")] public var tutorialBg:Class; [Embed(source="assets/gfx/tutorialStraightArrow.png")]
[Code]....
These Class variables are being referenced all over the app to place the assets so I'm hoping to be able to update the code to load the assets and store them in these same Class variables. So far the methods I've tried have not worked. I've tried using URLLoader and it loads the images fine, but I'm not then able to extract the image and cast it as type Class to these variables.
I have a group of 16 images that I would like to load 1 of each into each movieclip. I want image1 to be inside of visual1, image 2 inside of visual2, and so on. the images are named like, 1960s_(1).png where the 1960 (year) part is coming from the rangeNum variable. The above gives me this error: 1061: Call to a possibly undefined method addChild through a reference with static type int.
i have been building a library that has thumbnails which you click to view the full image. i have built the application it works but i want to change the way the image on the actual thumbnail loads using code instead of manually adding the value to the url loader component.
var myX;var instanceN:String;trace(instanceN);var currentLoad:uint = 0;// current loader and image loadingvar thumbnailURL:String;//Thumbnail URLvar thumbReq:URLRequest;// Thumbnail url requestfor(var k:uint = 0;k < iL_btn.length; k++)[code].....
the loop runs fine without the last line of code which i've commented out.the make up of these thumbnails are a uiLoader component which are each inside there own movieClip.what i wanted this to do was every time the loop runs it currentLoad adds 1 to its value then that value is subbed into instanceN:String and thumbnailURL address that bit works the trace statements read correctly.but my issue is using the instanceN value as the instance name path which then loads the current thumbnailURL value which is the URL address for the thumbnail picture.when i try to load the url address using the commented out code above i got the error .TypeError: Error #1010: A term is undefined and has no properties.the trace statements correct values below
the first value is the currentLoad value.
the second value is the instance name path.
the third is is the URL address for the thumbnail.[code].....
I have 50 images that need to be on stage, which will be embedded into 50 different movie clips. I named the movie clips image1-image50 and the images are in an external folder named 1-50. Every freaking article or tutorial I have found clearly explains how to upload one image, or just one at a time. I can do that, and spend 2 days renaming all the functions, but I do not want to do that. Is there a better way to just load all 50 images, place them accordingly?
I have a few movieClips and I would like them to play one after the other. [At end of MovieClip play next movieClip]. Using AS3 to Tween, this is my first Clip props. import fl.transitions.Tween; import fl.transitions.easing.*; var myTween:Tween = new Tween(FloatRight_mc, "x", Regular.easeOut, 22.00, 495.95, 3, true); var myTweenAlpha:Tween = new Tween(FloatRight_mc, "alpha", Regular.easeOut, 1, 0, 3, true); How do I get the next movieClip to start playing before its completion, and so on?
Is there a way to add paths to the Flash runtime search path for loading files? Say I want to load myXML.xml and its down in /myDir1/myDir2/myXML.xml. Is there any way I can add "/myDir1/myDir2" to the search path so I can just load using the string "myXML.xml" INSTEAD of loading by the full path "/myDir1/myDir2/myXML.xml"? My directory structure will be changing on a semi-regular basis so I can't hard-code the direct path to the file.
What I have is a SWF that loads multiple smaller SWFs into an array and then uses buttons to switch between them in a movie clip container on the stage.
Everything works when I pub my main SWF and even when I run it in a browser from my desktop.
When I upload to the server and try to run it online, I run into this problem. All the SWFs load, but only the last one to load actually plays in the container. The others seem to be stuck in frame 1.
The clips have no code in them, they are simple animations. And if I change the load order, still only the last clip plays. So I know it isn't the SWFs causing the problem. I am locked into using IE 8 and the flashplayer is version 10.3.
Anyone know of any issues with IE 8 or a reason that only the last file loaded would play?
here is my code, but as I said it seems to work fine until I run it online.
Working on a project with multiple sounds (all contained in different MCs) played by different key board events. Most of it works, but when I try to use simultaneous 2 button combinations to call upon a different sound, all 3 sounds play at once. The 3 sounds are as follows: the sound associated with the first button, the sound associated with the second button, and the sound associated with the 2 button combo. I've made several different true/false statements to override different events and states, but they don't affect the playing of the MCs. I've also tried using attachSound but I don't like the results I'm getting from that either.
How can I stop the first 2 sounds from being played, so only the 3rd sound can be heard?
I have several SWF files which are essentially little trivia files, provided to me by a 3rd party. They are individual files that number about 20. I am wondering, how can I play this as a list; like a playlist, and then loop back to restart? I'd like to do this in the stand alone player however it can only seem to load 1 file at a time. How I might look to accomplish this looping playlist?
I'm tweaking a flash website for a freind and he wants to have some videos play from a page. There are 25 files and ideally I want to achieve the 'Lightbox' look so that the browser window dims and the video plays over the top. After looking around I haven't found any easy solutions. What is the best way to achieve this, bearing in mind I shall have all these buttons on a page and want to have the video 'float' on top of the actual site?I'm relatively new to this although a long standing flash user when it comes to animation etc - not great on scripting.
