May 8, 2011Okay, so at the moment I am making a game in as3 with the FlashPunk framework. I have managed to set up ogmo editor to work with it, and the results have been good! I intend to send the ogmo project to some friends, so that they can make some levels for my game themselves. But I have run into a problem. I wanted my friends to be able to test the levels they make, so I set about trying to find a simple open file dialog solution, Sp that they can select the generated XML file (.oel), and then load it in to the actual game.

I can't see anything wrong with the above. I intend to use the code for a CD ROM.abc.doc will sit on the CD ROM. When I click on the button, it opens a browser window and tries to go to google.com.I had it working the other day.

Sep 25, 2009I want to open a file dialog via FileReference.browse() but I get #2176 error which means that this action can only be invoked upon some user interaction. I'm aware of security considerations but in my scenario I have a thin flash movie which merely displays an image and the whole UI is in javascript (I heavily use javascript <-> actionscript communication).
So the question is - do you think it would be possible to invoke FileReference.browse() upon the user interaction coming from javascript?

It's connected to a database where we keep track of the responses and print them in chart form and post the results on the website so everyone can see the most popular budget items the readers want to cut.

We've had many, many requests to have an option where the reader can get a copy of his/her choices that he/she can print out. I've thought about having a movieclip pop up that shows those choices (and that would be simple enough), but in addition to that, what I'd really like to do is have a way to download those choices to the reader's computer as a text file or maybe have a "Print" button on the movieclip showing the choices that would print just that movieclip. The database we have wouldn't really be suitable because it's set up to simply show which were chosen and which not, and the names of the submissions and choices are variables that don't really mean anything except to us when we put it all in an excel file.

Jul 2, 2010For one of my projects I need users to be able to communicate with each other in an audio mode. The thing I'm concerned about is the scalability of the project if it even gets big in terms of bandwidth consumption.
What are the alternatives to passing the audio through my server to the users?Is it possible to create a link between two users so they can exchange their stream of data (audio in this case) so that it doesn't pass through me, while still being able to control the time they've been connected to each other and some other information?
As for now it's just an idea I have in mind but I don't really know what to look into. I think it will probably need to be some plugin dependant solution so that's why I tagged the question like that.
I'm not looking for a concrete solution, just a little push in the right direction from someone who has been through something similar.

I am using as3 and within my movie I have a dynamic text box that contains a score.I need this score to be written to a text file preferbly in an array that only stores the highest 5 scores.I then need values from the array to be read and displayed on another movie which will act as a high score table. e.g. I will have a dynamic text box in my high score move that will display the 1st value in the array, and then the 2nd etc.
writing/reading data to text files.Alternatively if anyone else can suggest another method for a high score table please let me know. I only need a basic high score table that runs on a users local machine as the app i am making is desined to run on individual users machines.

Recording The Audio Locally?
Jul 14, 2009I am trying to figure out how to make a flash Application which can allow users to Record Audio from their Microphone. The recording needs to then be uploaded to a web server.I think the best way to do it would be to store the .flv or .mp3 file locally, and then submit the file to the server after the recording is completed.I have read in some places that this is impossible to do, however websites such as livevideo.com allow this too be done with Video as well, so I think Audio should be simple if it can be done with video.
