ActionScript 3.0 :: Playing Multiple FLVs / Resource Management

I have 3 flvs, that are rather big in dimension, that I am using as backgrounds. When I use any of these flvs my movie works fine but when I switch to a new background my movie takes a big hit in performance. I am guessing this has something to do with the garbage collection in as3 because i explicitly get rid of the old background. What is the best way to cycle through multiple flvs without loosing performance?

Heres code I am using to switch backgrounds

theBackground = null;
theBackground = assetLoader.getBackground(level);
addChildAt(theBackground,1);

I've searched around and havent really found anything definitive about this. Im trying to preload five flv files and then get them to play one after the other with as little pause in between as possible. Im thinking I might need to create five netstreams and then pause them, check to see if theyre loaded, start playing then first when they are with the others hidden, then after flv one is done show the container for flv two, etc. Ive done a test and I still get a bit of a jump in between flvs. Has anyone done then and got it to work without that hiccup?

I cannot get my sample program using the FLVPlayback component (using as2) to play back FLVs that are still in the process of being recorded. I have no problem playing back FLVs that are complete. Is this a practical limitation?

Flex :: Localization And Resource Modules - Runtime Errors - Unable To Load Resource Module From Portal?

I've created an application that includes a number of Modules and uses Parsley framework. Ant is used to build the application.Recently I thought of using Resource Bundles and implemented it in the system by creating a locale/en_US folder under the src. I added a portal.properties file with all my strings defined.In my modules, I added the metadata

In the ant build file, I added the below lines within mxmlc.

<locale>@{locale}</locale>
<source-path path-element="${myapp.flex.app.locale}/{locale}"/>

The build works fine and when I deploy the application and open it in my browser, I'm greeted with many errors thrown by the Flash player.But if I dismiss the messages, its working fine. My strings are replaced with the values in the property file, but how do I stop the runtime errors being thrown up?I get the below error.

Error: Unable to load resource module from portal at MethodInfo-637()at flash.events::EventDispatcher/dispatchEventFunction()

Any input on precaching multiple flv's at once to make sure they all play properly at once? Fairly small filesizes/resolutions/compression all around. I'm open to ideas. I plan on using a preloader to go from 0 to 100 as the videos precache.

On my main timeline i have some buttons. When you click a button you are diverted to the a frame label on the main timeline.
 
When the timeline stops at say frame 2 an flv is loaded into an empty movie clip on the main stage.  If you click on button 2, same thing. So in total I have about four FLV's that play when a button is pushed. If i keep clicking my buttons to test the smoothness of my flv's, after about three clicks from navigating between my frames/loaded flvs, my entire main movie becomes slower.
 
Each FLV is about 5mb.
 
Below is the code that gets initated when I click my button and am taken to that frame. My question is this, if i'm jumping between FLV's at every button click is the FLV that played first still playing and causing the entire main movie to slow down? Is there a better way to manage this? Do I have to unload the movie being played when i click? I'm trying to see if there an more efficient way to have smooth streaming from my flv. The flv that is getting initated is simply looping when it's done and servers a 'moving background'.
 
is there something else i can implement into my code that will keep my loaded flv's playing smoothly?

I'm having a problem with Flash Media Interactive Server 3.5. I have a simple application setup. I would like to simply to be allow the user to record multiple flvs. This is just because we want them to record, preview and either publish or try again.

to start and stop recording. The problem I'm having is that while the first record seems to go ok, the second gets garbled. The video starts about 70% through, and then just plays a small portion. I've tried meta injection to fix it up, but it's just not working. I'm thinking maybe I have to reset the stream or something before starting a record again, but I don't know how.

I've an SWF which loads dinamically six FLV files controlled by actionscript code.My goal is to guarantee a smooth playback, so I've to do a global preload of each file.So, I've created an array. Each element of this array contains a custom objecte named PreloadFLV that contains a reference to a NetStream object in a field named flv_ns.To process the preloading, I do before a NetStream.seek(1), then NetStream.pause() and then with a Timer I check the percent progress.When the percent progress is equal to 100, I start the clip.This is a small piece of code:

I am currently working on a flash project that need load and play 5 different external Flvs @ the same time. the flv files are between 2MB to 36MB. I am using AS to dynamic load them into the main SWF. it works locally on my laptop but when I upload everything on to JustHost, only the smallest one shows and start to play.

I have two FLV's that I have playing back to back. They use the following code, but I'd like to add the video controls/controller to the player, which I'm not sure how to do. This is what I currently have:

Unlike a typical FLV import where you can add the particular video controls that you prefer, I'm not sure how to add that manually via AS. What would be the best way to do this? I'd obviously like to be able to control volume and have a timeline scrubber that will work on both videos.

What I have is a SWF that loads multiple smaller SWFs into an array and then uses buttons to switch between them in a movie clip container on the stage.

Everything works when I pub my main SWF and even when I run it in a browser from my desktop.

When I upload to the server and try to run it online, I run into this problem. All the SWFs load, but only the last one to load actually plays in the container. The others seem to be stuck in frame 1.

The clips have no code in them, they are simple animations. And if I change the load order, still only the last clip plays. So I know it isn't the SWFs causing the problem. I am locked into using IE 8 and the flashplayer is version 10.3.

Anyone know of any issues with IE 8 or a reason that only the last file loaded would play?

Working on a project with multiple sounds (all contained in different MCs) played by different key board events. Most of it works, but when I try to use simultaneous 2 button combinations to call upon a different sound, all 3 sounds play at once. The 3 sounds are as follows: the sound associated with the first button, the sound associated with the second button, and the sound associated with the 2 button combo. I've made several different true/false statements to override different events and states, but they don't affect the playing of the MCs. I've also tried using attachSound but I don't like the results I'm getting from that either.

How can I stop the first 2 sounds from being played, so only the 3rd sound can be heard?

I am wondering, how can I play this as a list; like a playlist, and then loop back to restart? I'd like to do this in the stand alone player however it can only seem to load 1 file at a time. I'm tweaking a flash website for a freind and he wants to have some videos play from a page. There are 25 files and ideally I want to achieve the 'Lightbox' look so that the browser window dims and the video plays over the top. After looking around I haven't found any easy solutions.What is the best way to achieve this, bearing in mind I shall have all these buttons on a page and want to have the video 'float' on top of the actual site?I'm relatively new to this although a long standing flash user when it comes to animation etc - not great on scripting.

Inspired by Andre michelle, I`m building a tone matrix in AS3.I managed to create the matrix and generate the different sounds. They donīt sound that good, but Iīm getting there One big problem I have is when more than one dot is set to play, it sounds just horrible. I googled a lot and found the additive synthesis method but donīt have a clue how to apply it to as3.anybody out there knows how to play multiple sounds together? any hint?

I have a button that I want to play first one frame label in a movie clip, and then another, depending on a variable.

The problem that I am having is that the movie does not wait for the first part to finish before jumping to the next.

Here is an example of the code

It goes right to Bbeg, flickering briefly over A2beg which will not do!

i seem to be posting a lot at the moment but i am trying to get my Flash Skills up to date, hope im not annoying anyone too much. Basically i have a small project where pressing a button will trigger a sound, So when i click 'Button1' it plays the sound assigned to 'Button1', I have done this like the following.

Character ANiamtion In Multiple Frames Not Playing In The Game?

So I have a MC character and have him moving with the arrows. Now there are multiple(5) frames inside of this MC. Walk Animation(which is the first frame in the MC), Standing Animation, etc. So when I hit left arrow he walks and the walk animation cycles. BUT!!! When I crouch, etc. It doesn't loop the animation it just sits on a still image (as if I did not have an animation on that frame). What am I doing wrong?The code i'm using after my if statement is gotoAndStop(frame)Within each MC there are more MC's and so on, I don't know if this screws with it.Here is an FLA, the code is partly me but ultimately from disastamaans tutorial(on the kongregate website) for basic platforming. i want to load 4 different .swf at the time while my Intro is playing on the index page. yes now thats the catch. i am working with html. NOT the whole website is in flash. everything is fragmented and separate.[code]this is the website (lets consider so) and while my intro finishes loading and starts playing, i would like all the other 4 "SF*.swf" should be downloaded in the temp files of user comp, if done so successfully, while browsing through the individual html pages, they will not face the loading bar again n again (which becomes irrirtating for the user if they have to wait for each page and look at the % of bytes being downloaded )

1. is it possible to download all these individual swf files in the temp folder of the user comp?

2. if so, HOW?
