it's possible to reboot the system using a button from flash after the viewer has watched the flash presentation? From Visual Basic, executing the command "Environment.Exit(-4)" will shutdown and restart the program. This actually exits the control program and the watchdog program that is running in the background then restarts the main program. The -4 is not particularly important, but it is currently designed to look for an exit code with a negative value.Is this possible to execute the "Environment.Exit(-4)" command using AS3?
I've been developing a Flash application that will be running on a touch screen monitor installed in a hospital. The touch screen is run by a Windows machine. I'm afraid I don't know much about the Windows world. I'd like to have my Flash application launch in Flash Player every time the cpu is rebooted so the client never has to worry about manually doing it.
That's the question already there in the headline- is there a way to trigger a "full reload"? I have a problem with a file that's heavy on XML-loading and -interpreting and MC duplication and whatnot...
...and no matter how much retouching and restructuring and refining (and other words that start with "re") I put into it, after about 20 minutes it slows to a crawl, presumably because of a cache overflow.
So I figured I'd just find a way to completely reload the FLA- preferrably while passing values to itself so it knows what options and values the user had selected and what screen he was on.I guess the last resort would be a plain HTML-reload / refresh... but that is really only the final option... I'd prefer the user would not notice too much of the reload- at least not through the inconvenience of having to navigate through menus again to get to where he was...
I have an XML loader which loads data into my project, Then i modify the data and save it using PHP. (I can see that the XML data has changed) Then i restart the app by going to the URL again, And reload but the data stays unchanged untill i reboot IE. Why does this happen? do i have to release the XML file or something? That it now reread from memory?
Anyways, I started playing with flash applications a while back, and had a folder on my desktop to keep all the finished ones in, and eventually windows deemed it a default flash folder. I used to run the apps in SWF max, until I finally got flash to load them up in the player again, so I uninstalled that. I also went ahead last night to tidy up my files, and among that, I moved the folder with my flash games from my desktop to a sub folder in my documents. Now however, when I log back into the computer after a reboot, a folder called "Flash Games" (the name of the folder I kept them in) keeps creating itself. The only contents is its Desktop.ini file, the contents of which are:
[.ShellClassInfo] IconFile=C:Program FilesSWF.maxSWF.max.exe IconIndex=4 InfoTip=My Flash Folder: Your default folder with flash movies
So ultimately, I figured well it wasn't windows deeming it the default flash, but that silly program I'd already removed. (There are no traces of it in my program files anymore either) I have not as yet went through both registry and the rest of the computer to remove those traces yet, but I doubt there will be many, it was a portable program.
I install Flash 10 from the Adobe website for Firefox and everything appears to install just fine. In fact, Flash 10 works fine. Until........ I reboot. After reboot Firefox goes back to Flash 9.0.45.0 (9.0 r45). Which is evident by looking at the addons in Firefox.
I've tried completely uninstalling all versions of flash and even deleting registry entries for Flash 9 that I could find, and then re-installing. I've also tried a stand-alone installer. It always installs fine, but then always reverts back to 9 after reboot.
I got a textfile who i am reading on a serverside script and passing it as a script to my client side as3 code. The problem is that i am using characters like ä,ö,ü,ß and this isn't well displayed. I tried System.useCodePage but the compiler complains about : 1120: Access of undefined property 'System'. It doesnt matter if I tried this on the first line of the 'Action' in the first scene or in the first line of the first .as file i am loading. (btw i am only working with .as file and not in the timeline). When i am importing flash.System.* the compiler complains he dont know useCodePage.
I've now had two occurances of SWFVerification not enabling itself when the values are added to the application.xml for a client app.We've enabled it with an empty dir and any player will still get through.I tried to add a "not-really-the-player.swf" to confirm that it will reject all other connections, and they still get through.I've tried reloading the Application, and that also has had no effect.In a previous instance, only after the VHost is restarted, will SWFVerification start to work.This presents a rather large issue for us - as we host 100s of other client application connections on multiple boxes that do SWFverification, so it's not simple to just "reboot" these boxes.
Is it possible to make this a mask? The system contains one movieclip of a circle called ball, also a class called ball and a class called particle. I want the particle system movieclips to display an image...I'm sure this is possible...just have not been able to find a way. A little backround, I'm a completely selftaught n00b when it comes to AS3, but I'm grasping it fairly well... the tutorial is on this website, called A Simple Particle System Using Actionscript 3.
I am a new user of adobe flash. I have a question: After I published my flash file to .exe and .swf, how to I check the system requirement for this project when they need to open it? I need to write on the cd face....
I want to develop a logging system for my application. This system is intended to log warning,messages(like traces) and errors in a log file in the server with time stamp and user information.I am familliar with flash tracer but that is temporary. Sometime to debug real time user's reports I need this system.
Is it possible to embed code into a flash swf that pulls the system date and if it is greater then a hardcoded date, the file will stop playing, quit or abort playing, or just jump to the end of the swf?
When I use 'finder' to open and play this SWF, the track plays fine. As soon as I drag the SWF onto my html web page and preview in the browser, it is not functioning, so no sound plays. How do I need to tweak this so it could play? [code]...
trying to located imbedded movie symbols @ an exact location (relative to the root) and the X & Y values differ depending where the higher lvl movie symbol is located.
Occasionally I listen to online audio from a variety of sources with no problem. ccasionally when I try to do that I get a message (or a button) to download Flash 8.0.0. I have done that several times. Once the app is installed (as far as I know it is), I may then click on that audio file and up comes that same message/button again to d/l Flash 8.0.0. If I try to find Flash on my system, it is somehow not clear to me what I've found.
Let me try right now and see what comes up (I'll summarize): Using Spotlight my "Top Hit" says "Adobe Flash Player Install Manager." When I open that it gives me choices of Quit or Uninstall, but no version number. And if Flash 8 or later is indeed installed, how do I know where it is? (It may indeed be a plug-in somewhere but?) I also have here and there about 6 or 7 Flash-labeled folders. One for example in Applications/Adobe Extension Manager CS4/Samples. One more in my Library/Preferences/Macromedia folder (though I use no Macromedia apps). Now let me check my plug-ins for (latest) Safari: There's a Shockwave Flash. There is this: "Verified Download Plugin from file VerifiedDownloadPlugin.plugin, but no further info. I also have Click to Flash 1.5.5.
I need to implement a webcam for a web chat system. Im trying to avoid that the video data goes through the webserver... it should go directly from client to client (as if they were using with skype).
My client wants to distribute a video to some people, specifically car dealers, but he doesn't want the video to end up on Youtube or something like that. Therefore he wants the recipients of the video to be able to see it only once. My idea to implement this is:Generate a unique key per viewerSend each viewer a link to a page with a Flash based video player, with their key in the URLHave Flash get the video from the server. On the server the key is checked and the file sent (using php's readfile or something equivalent).Then the key is invalidated.I was thinking this wouldn't take more than a day to build.I know that if you want somebody to be able to play something, you implicitly give them the power to record it as well, but the client just wants me to make it as hard as possible.
Are there any fonts I can count on being on the user's system?I'm talking typical fonts like Arial, can I safely assume that it will exist? Or do I have to manually embed the ttf?
I don't want to draw my own custom tooltip because (A) it will look inconsistent across operating systems, (B) long tooltips wouldn't be able to float out of the SWF, and (C) it takes time to program (whether to align left or right depending on how close you are to a boundary).
After having some trouble with object deletion, I ran a simple test:Created a simple class with a weak reference listener for Event.ENTER_FRAME.Added a trace("I Exist!") call to the listened function.Instantiated a single instance with one reference in the Document Class.his worked as expected - the SWF file did nothing but print "I Exist!" every frame to the console. (In debug mode, of course.)What I did next did not work as I expected:I set the only reference of the object to be set to null on a mouse event, but the messages from the event listener of of said object still appeared in the console after the mouse event was fired and the reference set to null - meaning the object still existed!Calling System.gc() in the document class IMMEDIATELY stopped the event listener from printing further messages and seemingly deleted the item.
From what I understand, calling System.gc() is discouraged, but as it seems from this simple test the garbage collector is a big FAIL.Am I doing something wrong here in trying to dispose of the object, or should I simply call System.gc() every time I want to get rid of an object..?
Is there a best way to put a content management system into a Flash website so (very IT illiterate) people can update text on certain pages? Im expecting a simple notepad document that they can FTP to a specific folder is the best way but I didnt want to give them access to the entire site.
I'm trying to populate a Flash quote system with XML but as try as I may I'm unable to get the subsuboption (like Jewelcase --> Insert --> Glossy finish) to work.
Basically this quoting system has been dumped on my desk and I have till Monday to update it (I'm a graphic designer not a flash developer and I don't have a clue as to what I'm doing!).
The AS Code is:
Code: var xmlLoader:URLLoader = new URLLoader(); xmlLoader.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, LoadXML); var xmlData:XML = new XML();
[Code].....
Now I can get it to compile, but when it goes to pull the data it will work upto the Suboptions and then any code further on fails to load (so I suspect there is something wrong with either the XML or the AS tying to the XML).
Just to be clear, in order for System.setClipboard() to work, it has to be executed within a function that receives either a Keyboard or Mouse Event. Now, in my specific case, I need to hack this so that when I press 'enter', I get my string that I want to paste into the clipboard from the internet, and when Flash gets it, THEN it pastes it in.Here's an example on how I thought I could do that (unfortunately I didn't work).
Code: stage.addEventListener(KeyboardEvent.KEY_DOWN, keyboardHandler); function keyboardHandler(e:KeyboardEvent):void {
i did a flashsite feeded by xml with text etc. html formatted etc.i am wondering if there is any possibility to use a backoffice system with a login to make my clients modify the xml files... something with an integrated html editor o.e.i could set up typo3 to make a backoffice to edit online xml files, but there must be something better for this.
How I would go about making a rating system that I could load as a .swf into my main swf? Also have multiple rating systems instead of just 1? I have videos on a big flash site and I am interested in putting a rating system in.
I would like to know Adobe's Recommended system requirements for a PC running Flash Catalyst (not simply the minimum that are posted on this page: url...
