I get an error when running my Flash exe file and calling a local html file. I know this is related to Security but not sure the proper way to allow local html files to run or called within my Flash exe.
View 4 RepliesI have got a page which lets me control some devices in a local network. However, some of the advanced settings can be set only using an .exe file which is located on the computer where I run the configuration page. I would like to have all the configurational tools "in one place" so it would be nice to have a kind of link/block/button/flash animation/whatever which - after being clicked by the user - would run a specified .exe file. I think that it is possible somehow, because I've seen MMO games which are launched using a webpage. I also suspect that html/javascript will not let me to do something like that, so maybe the answer is Flash?
View 6 RepliesI have a flash movie within it quite a few scenes. When I go to a certain scene it has a movie clip on it (UGFT_MC). Within this I have a dynamic text box (UGFTtxt). I have the render text as HTML selected and the variable called "data". On my main timeline at the start of this scene I have the actionscript: loadVariables("UGFT.txt","_root.UGFT_MC");
Within my text file I have the following:
data=<B>All the code I want in my text box</B>
<p><img src="test.jpg"</p> etc.
This part all works, except I have lots of text and images in the text file and need a scroll bar on my dynamic text box. I have tried the UIScrollBar and it only works some of the time, and there is no pattern as to whether the scroll bar will appear. Quite often it is just a grey area. Though the top of the text called from the file is visible.

how to call a flash function from an HTML page. The idea is to have a link on my page (HTML link) that once clicked displays a movieclip in flash. I know i have to use the asfunction in HTML. So far I have just created my swf file with a function called showInfo. I've embedded the flash into an HTML page. I have then added a link on the HTML page as follows:
<a href="asfunction:showInfo">Link name</a> but when I click it says: "Firefox doesn't know how to open this address, because the protocol (asfunction) isn't associated with any program."
is there a piece of code I need to write in flash for this to work?
I am having a nightmare using CSS to style HTML within a dynamic textfield in my flash doc. From what i now understand after much trial and error and reading online, CSS doesn't even work properly in flash even for the tags that it does understand (which are few and far between anyway). For some reason my layout is getting completely screwed up in certain scenarios (predominantly when there are images present too) when i hover over links (which are styled in an external CSS file). If i remove the external CSS styling (which only contains the following simple code):
a:link {text-decoration: none;}
a:active {text-decoration: none;}
a:visited {text-decoration: none;}[code]....
Then everything works fine (but no links are underlined as standard or on hover). Does anyone know of any way to style the links without using an external CSS file (all i want to do is have no underline as standard and then underline them on hover). As this is from user input into a text editor I cannot place these links manually on the page in flash as they could be anywhere, I need a way of parsing the HTML and then displaying it accordingly.
I have created a flash movie with buttons. I intended for the user to press these button and open another flash movie or another html. I tried using URLRequest as such below but I got some errors when I run the flash and press the button:

I have a Flash movie which is embeded in 'base.aspx' file, when a button is clicked in the flash movie another 'something.aspx' file need to be called.When I run the flash movie from the Adobe Flash Professional CS3 IDE , it (the flash movie) calls the 'something.aspx' file just as expected.However when I embed the flash movie in to the 'base.aspx' file it doesn't work as expected .

why FLVPlayback isn't working properly in MVC views?I think i narrowed it down to the "hard coded" skin url file not being correct. View 1 RepliesI'm an application developer, and my standard usage of Flash is as follows: I'm creating an executable application, which contains a ShockwaveFlash object instance, which in turn is displaying a Flash Movie Clip - also created by myself. The executable application and the contained Flash clip are communicating via the ActionScript ExternalInterface (using XML strings) and the FSCommand.
I'd like to be able to debug the ActionScript code of the Flash file while I'm running/debugging my executable application. For that, I need to be able to start a remote debugging session from the Flash object running inside my executable. Problem is, I did not find any way of doing this.
When I publish the Flash SWF file with "permit debugging" checked, I'm able to start a remote debugging session when I'm displaying the file in a player or a browser (the "debugging" option is shown at the right-click menu of the Flash object), but I'm not able to do the same with the object inside my executable (the "debugging" option doesn't exist on the menu).
Environment Details: The executable application is using the ShockwaveFlash COM file to create the ShockwaveFlash object. The executable application is created using VB.NET, Visual Studio 2008, .NET 3.5. The Flash SWF file is created using Adobe Flash Professional CS4. I'm developing under Windows XP (SP3).
I'm developing a web application with Flash CS5 and AS3.0. The problem I'm having is this:At a certain state, the application goes to a frame with a "loading..." animation that loops continuously until the next state is reached. The animation is inside a MovieClip that lives on this frame on the stage (I'm not creating or animating it dynamically). While in this state, the app is waiting to receive a large xml file from an XmlSocket connection. The file takes a few seconds (literally - not milliseconds) to be received fully by the Flash player, and during this time the loading animation stops. I believe the socket is blocking the animation thread until it's done receiving the entire file.Does anyone know of a workaround that would allow the animation to keep playing while the socket is receiving? I've seen pseudo-threading hacks, but those always deal with computations or other activities that can be accomplished by calling a call-back function multiple times. Since I'm just listening on an open socket, there's no callback I could pass to a pseudo-thread.

I get no errors when testing the movie, except when clicking on the button (that should be going to the URL from the XML file), I get the following error in the Output window:

View 4 RepliesI'm trying to make a flash uploader. The issue however that has me stumped the uploader doesn't seem to be calling the php file. I'm watching in httpfox and its dosen't seem to be calling any file. Yet it appears to be uploading. It never actually uploads anything but it acts normally I don't get any errors I check the logs I don't see any issues in the logs. I have an html uploader that works fine. What else is there to check?! BTW this is on a server with self assigned cert I know there are issues with that but wouldn't it complain instead of not doing anything?

Instead of a link, I'd like to call a javascript method that opens up a modal dialog with a list of items. I've tried the following based on some things I found, but I can't get it to work.

loadAsModal() takes in an empty div that i put on the page, and then the menu.jsp which builds the menu given the group id. I made sure to import all of my js libraries on the page.

The map works with if I use the .html file in my original folder but all the paths are relative and I'm trying to make this work in an ASP.NET MVC project using visual studio. It's rather tough to explain the problem since I don't know what's wrong (no javascript or flash debugger).Here is the code that embeds the ammap:
