Does anybody know the right way to use flash.desktop.NativeApplication and not run into 1172: Definition flash.desktop:NativeApplication could not be found. or 1120: Access of undefined property NativeApplication.
It works fine when the publish settings are set to iOS, but when I switch to publish a "normal" swf I get the error.
So I'm trying to write a desktop app to publish posts to a Wordpress blog, and I found Reuben Stanton's Wordpress XML-RPC library (for some reason, his site isn't responding, so here's the code on Google Code)Now everything works well, but when I get to publishing posts, something weird happens.Here's my code:

I have downloaded a game tutorial but when I try to republish it from the fla I get the above message. I DO have the line: import flash.desktop.NativeApplication;
Ive made a movie that add strings from several input text fields to an array. This array is sent from the flash video to php. This is working fine when I preview the movie as Flash. The php script prints the variables as intended.
But when I preview it as html the arrays are all empty...

While publishing my movies in CS4, I noticed that the javascript required to embed the movie in a web page was published as inline javascript in the published page. This means that code would be downloaded for each page my movie is on. Is it possible to configure Flash CS4 to publish that javascript to a separate .js file, instead of having to manually copy-paste that each time??
If no, I believe that js is independent of the Flash movie (please correct me, if I am wrong). So, can I copy-paste that javascript to an external file just once, and use the js file for all my movies being published??

Unfortunately, my receiving end only supports AAC audio. Is there a way to publish AAC audio with Flash?
Note : I tried the mp4:mic_user1, but it does not work. The stream negociation seems ok, but the received audio is garbage
I want to have site visitors be able to put a link to a website on their desktop. Asking them to click on a link, bookmark it, and then save the link to their desktop is too involved. A one click solution is what I'm hoping for, but something like dragging an icon off the .swf to the desktop would be okay.

View 2 RepliesI am trying to work out an approach to developing a desktop application that would play movies, games and various flash material such as flash games and flash flip books. The movies will be in both video format and swf format, and will need to be compressed and encrypted for transmission to users and decompressed/decrypted by our player so as not be viewable by other players. The installer would be platform / OS dependant.
The player / user interface would need to be written in a 'portable' language so it can be cross-complied to different platforms ( Windows, Linux/Android, Mac, Iphone/Ipad, ... ) If this is not possible than atleast it should work on the PC and MAC. The idea here is to ideally maintain one code base so the client will experience the same interface on each platform we support.
My questions are-
What would be the best approach to develop these applications?
Is it possible to acquire public / open source code where much of the work has already been done and then add my code to it?
If open source code is available where could I get it from?
Experience with Flash: very very little (very) Version: CS4 Operating system: XP Pro. I was given an FLV file to display on the web. I imported the file into flash and exported it as an html file.
The movie worked great online, but then I was asked to save a copy of the movie on a CD to send it to a client - I saved all the files in a folder. I tested it on my computer and I was able to view the movie, but when the client loaded the html page, all they saw was a bar (that has the volume & play buttons) and a green line that scrolls across it. Here's what it looks like
Some people can load the html file and view the movie and others cannot (on their desktop). On some computers I tried updating the flash player (I removed the existing one first), but it still did not work.
As much as I'd like to be, I am not a Flash developer - I just use it to the extent that I must (the nature of my job) Did I provide enough information for someone to be able to tell what the issue is and how to resolve it?

View 2 RepliesI'm building an AIR desktop app with facebook support using Adobe Flash builder. So far it's working alright, except for one detail, once a user logs in, that session stays open, even if the logout button is pressed. My logout code look like so:

I set APP_ORIGIN to "[URL]". I checked Adobe's documentation and they say: appOrigin:String (default = null) ” (Optional) The site url specified for your app. Required for clearing html window cookie. But I don't know what that means, what is the 'site url specified by my app'? Where do I get it? Sorry if this is a noob question.

View 2 RepliesI am using Flash CS5 and when I exprt my file to swf I notied that after exporting and playing it in Flash player (on my desktop) I can change the size of the window and the scene itself eventthough I have set the width and height dimension to e.g. 468x60.
So, the bad thing is that if I ahve some objects that are moving from this area and in banner I do not see them in flash player I can see all which is not good.
Is there a setting in export option to disable this behavior or some actionscript, so my client will not be able see the "mess-behind-the-scenes" :)?
I can probably remove some objects using actionscript, however if I have looping background image it is necessary to be bigger than 468px In my case 3x.
Flash Movie that works using Firefox and Safari on my (iMac) desktop, but not after I upload to my website.
I started with an flv video, imported it into an fla document along with a playback skin then published it creating an html file and two swf files. I've checked the html file, and it looks fine. The flv file is only 17MB and I've uploaded all 5 files to my site on:

but all I seem to get is the control skin's "sending data" pole turning.The movie never arrives. I can get much bigger mpeg and wmv movies up on my screen very quickly.

So, I know how to resolve this by clicking the settings. But our users won't want to do that. What doesn't make sense is that the swf file isn't pulling anything from the Internet. The world.swf file shouldn't be communicating with sample.html, and not only that, they are located in the same folder.

It's a mobile flex application in FlashBuilder 4.6. When I export release build for my mobile project, I see an option for desktop .air packaging rather than mobile. Works and looks great....but you can't sell a .air file on Mac App Store. I want to bundle the air runtime to create a .app, which hopefully I can get on the app store.
