I'm having a bit of a problem here. As per the title, my flash swf file works fine when tested from the IDE, but when I publish it and open it through the browser, the stage doesn't seem to resize along with the window.I post below a bare-bones example. The "back" movie clip should resize, only it remains at the starting dimensions
Code:
import flash.events.Event;
import flash.display.MovieClip;

I'm having a little issue with the resize event and resize effect of a VBox.
I have something like this:
<mx:VBox id="container"
backgroundColor="0xFFFFFF"
backgroundAlpha=".9"
paddingTop="15"
paddingLeft="15"

I've a flash site 100x100% in browser window. When I open new tab in browser window Event.RESIZE doesn'tdispatched.how to handle this event except EnterFrame or
Timer listeners?
I want to do something very similar to the resizing effect on this website.

Basically if you resize the browser, it seems like it's programmed to only display/load/transition in the images once the user lets go of the mouse and the browser is done moving.
I would like to know if there is a Resize on mouse release event or a work around to do this. Currently my images keep refreshing every time you drag/resize the browser screen, before you let go of the mouse.
So basically while your dragging the browser window size to different size it keeps reloading and updating the images. I want it to reload and update the images once the user is done dragging and resizing the browser.
In a div, we use swfobject to embed a flash player. We wrote the flash player in action script. During the initialization of the web page, we use javascript to resize the div to make the player best fits the browser. The enclosed flash player registers an OnResize event listener and handler. The question is the OnResize event is not called when the enclosing div's resized. (The OnResize event does get called when we drag to resize the browser afterwards.) Could the be caused by the Flash VM is not fully ready when the div's being resized? What is the best way to make sure the OnResize event is called in this case?
View 1 RepliesI have this problem: I have no idea how and where to add event listener to resize the menu. Here is main part of the code:

I am trying to make it so that when the window is resized, a color bar resized to be the width of the stage and the moves to the bottom of the window. The width resize works fine, but item disappears out of view when i include the new y location. I've set up a trace and everything seems to be fine. What am i doing wrong?

I'm working on a project that uses a resize event and the Flash is full-browser (100% height and width). This means of course that every time the Flash stage size will change the resize function will be triggered. This works all fine. But the problem is that if you open a new tab in a browser besides the Flash tab and you go to another website and you resize the browser itself than the rezise event wasn't triggered when you return to the Flash tab. It only triggeres when you resize the browser with THAT tab open.
So is there a normal way (without having an enterFrame loop) to still trigger the event if you return to the Flash tab?
I thought maybe a timer is best way. It should trigger the resize every 3 or 5 seconds or so.
I'm currently working on a center stage component and I was wondering if there's a good way to detect when a stage component has been changed if any of the elements inside it have been enlarged?
This seems like it should be available but I can't find one that doesn't fire before the redraw. Or at all for that matter.
This example relies on 1 MC on the stage called testMc now when you run this code it works fine. Every time you click the movieclip in does what its suppose to do.
The output shows
trans
trans
trans
trans
etc
The problem lies when you resize the screen and then press the button again for a few times you will see this in the output
transresizeresizeresizeresizeresizeresizetransresizetransresizetransresizetransresize
Somehow after the resize is done it keeps calling out for the resize event.
How is this possible ?! I made it in CS5.
import flash.events.MouseEvent;import fl.transitions.*;import fl.transitions.easing.*;
stage.addEventListener(Event.RESIZE, stageResize, false, 0, true);
function stageResize(evt:Event):void{
trace('resize');
[Code] .....
I want to set width and height of the stage during resize of that swf..I do it in resize event handling..but doesn't work..any other way to achieve this?[code]

if I set StageScaleMode to NO_SCALE, code works properly, but if I set it to NO_BORDER, code won't working How to avoid this problem?
I have is as I add objects from other classes to the stage, is there a way to automatically add them to the resize event I have on the main stage to keep them in position in my fluid flash layout? Currently I am declaring all the variables in the project at the top of my primary class, adding them to the stage in the opening function, and then finally adding them to the resize event.
View 0 Replieslets say i have 2 classes in the same package.and i add the same event listener to each of them, for example i add event.resize to some display object container in both of them.how can i prevent the code attached to that listener to execute in one of the classes if that event happens?
View 2 RepliesI have a stage.addEventListener(Event.RESIZE, resizeHandler); that I would like to perform the repositioning of the objects when the user stops resizing the browser window. I imagine I need to use a mouse move listener, but how do I check to see if the mouse has stopped moving in the resizeHandler?
View 1 RepliesIs anybody else finding their flash website event.RESIZE isn't working in Windows 7?My website works fine when I run it at home in Vista, however at work in Windows 7 it just does not work and I have no idea why???! Essentially the bit that says portfolio works should stick in the top right corner on resize and the mute and sound button in the bottom left.
View 9 RepliesI have some little listener.
stage.addEventListener(Event.RESIZE,rozmiar1);
function rozmiar1(e:Event):void
{
ofertaBTN.oCenter.width=(14.59*stage.stageWidth)/100;
ofertaBTN.oRight.x = ofertaBTN.x+ofertaBTN.oLeft.width +ofertaBTN.Ocenter.width;
}
But only ofertaBTN.oCenter.width is changing. oRight is not responding and I get error #1010.
I'm using Flex 4.5.1 with AIR 2.7 (and Flash Builder 4.5.1) to build an app for the Blackberry Playbook.
The app has a large textarea that needs to be resized when the soft keyboard shows up. I am able to hook into the soft keyboard events and do things there.
Now, I want to resize the textarea to fit the remaining part of the screen when the keyboard shows up. I know the current and destination size and want to use a smooth animation to show the textarea resizing. (I can't already set the height and can see the textarea being correctly resized in the keyboard_activating event - but I want to do it through an animation). I've tried using the Animate class, the spark.effects.Move class and none of them seem to work in this case. They seem to run the animation but the screen does not get refreshed!

I am trying to create a custom resize event as part of a larger project to create a flexible liquid layout class.Basically, i want an object to listen for the stage.RESIZE event. If i can listen for this event from multiple objects, it solves my event firing problem.[code]
View 7 RepliesTrying to put some event listeners for the "resize" event, evidence suggests that the only object dispatching "resize" event is the stage, right? Moreover, since it is at the top of display list, the event does not travel anywhere else but to the object that registers a listener directly?
View 2 RepliesI am working on image and i like to scale or resize the image by dragging and resize option.same working as "free transform tool" in flash (design part); i need same functionality in application.
View 7 RepliesI have Buttons which I have rotated vertically within a Canvas, that is working fine. The problem occurs, when the user resizes the window to a small size a vertical scroll bar appears, I would rather have each button squashed upto a smaller size.
<mx:Canvas xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml" width="40" maxWidth="40" xmlns:myComponents="myComponents.*"
horizontalScrollPolicy="off"

I have a main movie here that loads in an external swf through a container mc. everything is aligned and positioned to where it should be, and they are also set to that value onresize. the problem is, when my swf is loaded in, it works fine and is in the right position, same when you resize it. BUT, if you resize the window before the swf is loaded, it misaligns, until you resize!!
View 2 RepliesI have a datagrid that occupies 100% of browser screen. I want the grid to automatically resize when the browser is resized to small or full screen.
View 1 RepliesI've got a large bitmap (1920 x1306) that my client wants as a bg image, scaled to the swf size on load (930 x 575); but that can "grow" up to its original size if/when a user expands the browser window. All the rest of clips in the display list are to remain in place (except for a copyright clip, which they want to always be 14 pix above the bottom of the browser frame. I've tried loading the bitmap dynamically at full size and then using scaleX,scaleY to set it's initial smaller (930x575) size, and I've tried just setting the height/width of the dynamically loaded image using the math of scaleX,ScaleY just in case the scaleX "transformed" the bitmap so that it couldn't return to its original size. Both make the bitmap the right size. But the resize function below did nothing to it, (or the copyright.y.) THEN I tried just putting the bitmap into the display list (both sizing methods work here, too). But even as an original member of the compiled display list, the resize event is still not reaching the target. Everything I've seen on the web says this should work - but...no luck.
Here's the AS3 code in the 1st frame of my swf:
import flash.display.Stage;
import flash.display.StageAlign;
import flash.display.StageScaleMode;

I have editable grids which are 2-way binded to my model. What I want is to validate my data when user edits any cell before it get updated in model. I have applied my validation at ItemEditEnd handler, but, I want to apply validation in between itemEditBegin and itemEditEnd events.
View 1 Repliesi am creating flex 3 component when i re size the window i need to re size the labels and text.how to do this?
View 1 RepliesI hava a custom component and it contains a child icon. If I add a mouse-click event listener to both component(click-listener1) and icon(click-listener2), the event dispatched sequence is click-listener2, then click-listener1. I can understand it. But if I add a custom event to component (listener1), and mouse-click event to icon(listener2), when icon is clicked, the component will dispatch the custom event. In my test, the event dispatched sequence is listener1, then listener2. It doesn't match with event-bubbles rule.
In my opinion The custom event is dispatched in listener2, which triggers listener1. Why event flow sequence is not listener2, listener1?
In component.
icon.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, iconClickHandler);
private function iconClickHandler(event:MouseEvent):void

I am trying to learn JavaScript and I am wondering whether JavaScript has a event listener just like ActionScript's ENTER_FRAME. Basically, I want this event listener to listen "all the time" not just wait for any particular instance (mouse click, keyboard event) of event.
