Oct 15, 2011

ActionScript 3.0 :: Cant AddChild The Event.target?

Jan 29, 2009

i add eventlistener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OVER) to some movieclip. but when i write: addChild(event.target) it doesnt work.

More info: i have several rectangles on the stage. when movie starts, they all get alpha 0.3, when you mouse over any of them they get alpha 1 with tween. But i made it so that, rectangles are located over the each other. and i want to make it so, that when you mouse over any rectangle it comes to front, but it doesnt work with addChild(event.target).To try it at your own, just create 3 different sized boxes and give then instance names: square_mc, square2_mc, square3_mc and copy+paste this code.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Accessing Event Target And Other Class Instances?

Nov 6, 2009

I have mutliple instances on the stage of a custom ThumbNail class. As you click on a particular instance an associated enlarged external image will load. As this is happening I want to make sure that the ThumbNail class animations are inactive for all instances.

I was thinking of using a Boolean variable that would get set right before the image is loading. Using event.currentTarget should help with the instance that was clicked but how do I gain access to the instances that were not clicked?

Embedding SWF: Doesn't Recognize FP10

Jun 25, 2009

Flash files I embed have faulty plugin detection - it does not recognize FP10 as an upgrade from FP9. This is in the knowledgebase, but it does not suggest a solution. "Some websites will ask you to install or update Flash when you already have the Flash 10 plugin installed. This is not a problem with your Mozilla browser or your Flash plugin, but with certain websites that misidentify Flash 10 as Flash 1 due to a faulty detection scheme. Contact the website and ask them to correct the problem or, on Windows, you can try the site in Internet Explorer, since the Flash ActiveX detection may work even though the plugin detection does not."

Flex :: ComboBox Selection Doesn't Recognize

Apr 19, 2011

My code snipet looks like :

Do you have idea about the reason for that error and how to prevent it? N.B. The code that triggers this error is as a result for click handler. If before encountering this error change the selection on my yearsCb, everithing is fine. EDIT: I forget to specify that this error is thrown when it is a selected item in my ComboBox. It seem that after container that holds the ComboBox loses the focus, it doesn't recognize it's ComboBox child as having a selected item anyway (this problem arise only after the modal popup close.).

how to make my package use stage.stageHeight so I can tell a ball to bounce when it reaches the bottom of the stage. I'm calling my ball to the stage from the library in a way I'm not used to and have never done so I'm assuming it has got to do with that. if you take a moment to look at it (pretty simple i've stripped out everything except for the physics that makes a ball drop and bounce) and let me know why I cant detect the stage.

ActionScript 3.0 :: SelectionActivePosition Doesn't Recognize Carriage Returns?

Jun 4, 2010

I've got an app where I'm grabbing the currently highlighted text from the user in a RichEditableText block and I've noticed that when the user highlights a selection after a carriage return that selectionActivePosition and selectionAnchorPosition return values that don't count the carriage return, even though when I slice the corresponding text with the retrieved values, it does take the carriage return into account and therefore returns a value shifted one character to the left for each carriage return appearing earlier in the text.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Flash Doesn't Recognize Classes Upon Exporting?

Nov 29, 2011

I was asked to update some information on a certain project. The weird thing is that whenever I try to export the movie from Flash (I work with CS3 Professional), I get errors. Before even changing anything. All of them are reporting MovieClip not being recognized ("The class...... must subclass flash.display.MovieClip since it is linked to a library symbol of that type" (and a few SimpleButtons too). There is a total of 57 errors. All the classes import and extend MovieClip.

Now I'm pretty sure this doesn't have anything to do with the code itself, since this project was already published and tested working as it is. I tried adding Class paths in the preferences menu but this didn't seem to help.

ActionScript 3.0 :: How To Target A MC Inside AddChild()

Feb 11, 2011

I haven't found my answer with a search of the forum, sorry if this is a redundant question. I am having problems with targeting a MovieClip that is inside another Movie Clip that is placed on stage from the Library using the addChild(); method. This is my code for creating the MC instance on stage:

var pMenuSlide:plusMenuSlide = new plusMenuSlide();
addChild(pMenuSlide);

Now, inside of pMenuSlide there is a MC called cloze, how do I target this MC? This does not work: var pMenuCloze:MovieClip = Object(root).pMenuSlide.cloze

ActionScript 3.0 :: Remove All AddChild Instances Of A Movieclip

Feb 16, 2011

I need to remove all the instances of a movieclip that I am adding to the stage using addChild.I use a loop to add several copies of the same movieclip onto the stage. Is there a way to remove all these movieclips at once.I've tried several things but nothing seems to work.Below are the for loops that I am using to add and remove the children from the stage. Note that the initial for loop adds a number of instances of the movieclip "colorbox2" based on the contents of textboxes. This works fine, however when I trace(colbox.numChildren) it just shows "1" regardless of how many instances it adds to the stage. Shouldn't it reflect the number of instances it added to the stage? The 2nd loop removes one instance of the movieclip from the stage, but I can't get it to remove all the instances of the "colorbox2".[code]

ActionScript 3.0 :: AddChild To Create Multiple Instances Of An MC On The Stage?

Jun 28, 2009

I'd like to create a chain of objects (either movie clips or sprites) that move left to right across the stage continuously. I know I can create two movie clips that contain a series of several 'chain links' and are each a little wider than the stage width. Then I can move both clips across the stage and when the first movie clip is completely off stage reset its x position back to 0. Likewise, when the second clip is completely off the stage on the right, reset it's position off the stage to the left.

This works and gives me the basic effect that I want by creating this uninterrupted moving chain, but it doesn't seem like its the most efficient way to achieve this. What I thought would be more efficient would be to create each link in the chain separately from an individual mc in my library by programmatically adding new instances to the stage.So, I created a single chain link mc and set its export linkage to 'Link' and left the base class to flash.display.MovieClip. Next, I placed the following snippet of the code on the first frame of my movie:

Code:
var xPos:int = 0;
var yPos:int = 100;
