IDE :: GotoAndStop On Frame One Command For Pictures

Feb 2, 2009

I'm having an issue with some pictures and a gotoAndStop on frame one command. I have pictures on my website that appear when clicked on, and I've placed a simple close button in the top left corner of the picture that simply tells flash to go back to frame 1 (gotoAndStop(1)). However, it seems that in Internet Explorer (not in FF) when the close button is clicked it goes back to frame one but it leaves part of picture still displayed although it seems to dissapear in segments when rolled over with the mouse. Here is the website where this is occurring: [URL]. Btw, I'm using the flash eff component, but the problem seemed to still occur after i removed all flash eff instances.

ActionScript 3.0 :: GotoAndStop Command Not Working Correctly

Jul 6, 2009

So I have this movie clip with some buttons in it. Two of the buttons (forward and backward) move the movie clip forwards or backwards one frame at a time - this works fine. However the other two buttons (fast forward and rewind) are suppose to move the movie clip forwards or backwards 25 frames at a time (so they always go to 25, 50, 75, 100, etc.) - but here's the problem.

Say for example I'm at frame 150. I press the fast forward button and I'm at frame 175. Now I hit backward and I'm at 174. Now I hit fast forward again to get back to 175 - however my movie clip is jumping ahead to 200, skipping 175 completely - not what I want. I'm just using the gotoAndStop(frame#); commands and have no clue why this is happening. I want the fast forward and rewind buttons to always hit the next 25 increment, not skip the closest one.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Send Html Command To Embedded Swf To GotoAndStop Specific Frame Label?

Jul 14, 2009

I have a .swf menu with 20 or so links. Each link opens up a new html page that in turn embeds the same swf menu. All I want is to simply have the html tell the swf to gotoAndStop a specific frame label that really just 'highlights' that particular button, so the user knows where they are. that's it... used to be able to do this with fsCommand, or so i thought.

Embedding SWF: Doesn't Recognize FP10

Jun 25, 2009

Flash files I embed have faulty plugin detection - it does not recognize FP10 as an upgrade from FP9. This is in the knowledgebase, but it does not suggest a solution. "Some websites will ask you to install or update Flash when you already have the Flash 10 plugin installed. This is not a problem with your Mozilla browser or your Flash plugin, but with certain websites that misidentify Flash 10 as Flash 1 due to a faulty detection scheme. Contact the website and ask them to correct the problem or, on Windows, you can try the site in Internet Explorer, since the Flash ActiveX detection may work even though the plugin detection does not."

Do you have idea about the reason for that error and how to prevent it? N.B. The code that triggers this error is as a result for click handler. If before encountering this error change the selection on my yearsCb, everithing is fine. EDIT: I forget to specify that this error is thrown when it is a selected item in my ComboBox. It seem that after container that holds the ComboBox loses the focus, it doesn't recognize it's ComboBox child as having a selected item anyway (this problem arise only after the modal popup close.).

ActionScript 1/2 :: Nested Frames And GotoAndStop?

Dec 2, 2011

I have a very specific AS2 parent/child movie clip issue, I have a main Character movie clip which contains as nested frames each profile of the Character (front,back,left,etc). Within each of these child profile MC frames, animations for those profiles are further nested in frames.

[Code]...

The problem is that when I try to Character.gotoAndStop('Front'); after key release, flash thinks, you're already on the Front frame (because the walk animation is a child of that MC and is already playing).Therefore the walk animation just keeps playing after the key has been released.Is there an easy, one-off way to fix this?

I've got an app where I'm grabbing the currently highlighted text from the user in a RichEditableText block and I've noticed that when the user highlights a selection after a carriage return that selectionActivePosition and selectionAnchorPosition return values that don't count the carriage return, even though when I slice the corresponding text with the retrieved values, it does take the carriage return into account and therefore returns a value shifted one character to the left for each carriage return appearing earlier in the text.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Flash Doesn't Recognize Classes Upon Exporting?

Nov 29, 2011

I was asked to update some information on a certain project. The weird thing is that whenever I try to export the movie from Flash (I work with CS3 Professional), I get errors. Before even changing anything. All of them are reporting MovieClip not being recognized ("The class...... must subclass flash.display.MovieClip since it is linked to a library symbol of that type" (and a few SimpleButtons too). There is a total of 57 errors. All the classes import and extend MovieClip.

Now I'm pretty sure this doesn't have anything to do with the code itself, since this project was already published and tested working as it is. I tried adding Class paths in the preferences menu but this didn't seem to help.

myButtonInstance.onRelease = function() {

however, I've come accross a problem where in for some reason the application will sometimes move frames when I don't want it to. For example, given the code above it would sometimes go to frame 5, but then instantly move somewhere else from there despite the code saying only to do so when a button is pressed.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Objects Carried Between Frames By GotoAndStop()?

Jan 15, 2010

I am creating a point and click game.In the bottom corners of the screen there are two arrows for changing the area. When these arrows are clicked, the only thing that is supposed to happen is a frame change. For some reason, objects are being carried from the frame they are supposed to be on to the frame that is changed to and they stack up each time the frame changes. I don't even see how this is possible without writing code specifically for it. Here is the code in one of the objects being transferred:

Code:
onClipEvent(load)
{
var DepthCorrection = 0;[code]...

Nothing in that could possibly make it move to a different frame and it has no instance name so nothing can reference it to bring it to one.Here is the code for changing frames:

Code:
onClipEvent(load)
{
var Frame = _global.Area + 1;[code]...

I've had problems with gotoAndStop() before where it went to the wrong frame and only displayed certain objects on that frame.

Actionscript 3.0 :: Calculate Number Of Frames Between Two Labels?

Mar 10, 2009

I'm trying to create a function that looks at two Frame Labels and calculates the number of frames between them. This is what I've got so far:

Code: Select allfunction convertLabelsToFrames (targetClip:MovieClip, startFrameLabel:String, endFrameLabel:String):int
{
var time:int = targetClip.endFrameLabel.frame - targetClip.startFrameLabel.frame;
return time;
};

The problem I'm having is that you don't seem to be able to find a FrameLabel within a MovieClip in the simple sort of way that I've used above (I know the way I specify here won't work). It does seem, though, like there should be SOME way of finding a FrameLabel within a MovieClip.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Parent / Child MovieClip - Nested Frames And GotoAndStop

Dec 2, 2011

I have a very specific AS2 parent/child movie clip issue. I have a main Character movie clip which contains as nested frames each profile of the Character (front,back,left,etc). Within each of these child profile MC frames, animations for those profiles are further nested in frames. Then, essentially I have movement code as part of the key listener:

Code:
switch(Key.getCode()){
case 87:
Character._y -= 10;
Character.gotoAndStop('Back');
Character.gotoAndStop('walk');
break;
[Code] .....

And later code to reset to the character's resting frame after key release:
Code:
switch(Character._currentFrame){
case 5:
Character.gotoAndStop('Back');
break;
[Code] .....

The problem is that when I try to Character.gotoAndStop('Front'); after key release, flash thinks, you're already on the Front frame (because the walk animation is a child of that MC and is already playing). Therefore the walk animation just keeps playing after the key has been released.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Flash - How To Mark Frames With Labels On Same Timeline

Jul 9, 2010

I am working on a game and would like to put code for different levels on the same timeline layer, mark the frames with labels (level1, level2...) and add different action script to it. Can this be done, and are there some limits. It is a small tetris like game, and each code would be mainly adding children to a stage, from an array and checking for a collision with objects added on a different layer on the same frame as the label. Also it would change score and so on.

ActionScript 3.0 :: GotoAndStop() / Stop() Fail - Sending An Event From One Of The Frames Of A Movieclip

Dec 3, 2009

I've recently had a problem in my application's flow. I was sending an event from one of the frames of a movieclip and the issue was that it was being sent over and over and over when I wanted it to be sent only once. I assumed that placing a call to stop(); at the last frame of the clip would prevent it from looping. This was not the case however. After that I tried calling gotoAndStop(0); to reset the movieclip and stop it from looping. This did not work either. Then I went through my code to make sure nothing else was causing it to play.

I solved the problem by adding an extra frame to the end of the clip and calling gotoAndStop to that frame instead of 0. I've looked around the forums and google for information on this phenomenon but have only found cryptic answers. I was wondering if someone could explain the divine purpose that drives MovieClips to play regardless of whether they are told to stop or not when they get to frame 0 or 1.
