ActionScript 3.0 :: Why Does Timer Event Not Start Function

Dec 28, 2010

I have a function that fades out sound. It works perfectly well, yet the mirror of that which is supposed to fade IN my sounds does not start looping.[code]The issue is that the Fade_in_timer calling VOL_up never starts looping.And the very same code works well when dV is subtracted from setVol.setVol, dV and Vol are global variables defined at the top of my main code. "timers" is an array to keep track of all new timers in case I need to stop them all and remove them.the other fadeout function that works well only differs in the names of the timer and the stop criterion and that setVol is decreased gradually.

I just want to make a simple button action using actionscript 2 but I can't get it to work! I'm sorry for even asking but I've been at this for too long now for it to not work I'm using Adobe Flash CS4 and I do the following --

File -> New Flash File (ActionScript 2.0)
Insert -> New Symbol
Name - test
Type - button
Export for ActionScript
Identifier - test

And then draw it in using the keyframes and add the code to 'Actions - Button' for my button

Code:
on(release) {
trace("trace");
}

I click on the button and it animates but no action event in the trace?

Actionscript 3 :: Attach A Global Event Listener?

Feb 17, 2012

I am working on an AIR application:

The main window is like a dashboard. With the menu bar, I can open other windows with dashboard details. When I close these, I'd like to refresh the main window.

I tried to use an event listener, but the result is not good. If I open detail windows directly from the main window, I know how to add an event listener - and it works - but I don't know how to do it, if the detail window is opening from the menubar!

I'm using removeMovieClip and AttachMovie twice in one rollOver event, but only the second one works. Here's the code:

[Code]....

So - if there is only remove/attach of "LetP" everything works fine, but whene I add ramove/attach "k" only the "k" works, the "LetP" doesn't change.
Should I put it into a function? Or is there another reason?

Actually I just checked and the removeMovieClip doesn't work in both cases. Is that becouse actionscript is attached to object itself instead of a dedicated actionscript layer?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Attach Different Movieclips With One Function?

Apr 26, 2010

I'm adding movieclips from an external .as class called GUI. But what I'd like to do is be able to load multiple GUIs - lets say GUI0, GUI1 & GUI2 - through the one class using a dynamic variable. So if I need to load a certain GUI i can just instantiate the GUI class and run newGUI.loadGUI(GUIname); and have it load the correct movieclip based on the variable.So, syntax aside, it would look something like this:

Code:
loadMenu(GUIname) {
GUItoLoad = GUIname;
var mcLoader:GUItoLoad = new GUItoLoad();[code]........

I've tried a few different things syntax wise, and have had a search and browse, but have come up empty handed.

Actionscript 3 :: Android - Attach Mouse Event Listeners To The Stage Or To Individual Sprites?

Aug 16, 2011

In AS3 on Android is it bad from a performance perspective to attach mouse event listeners to individual sprites rather than to the stage? I am writing an app for an Android phone using AS3 in Flash Builder. The app has multiple screens that respond to user touch. The screens are arranged in a hierarchy and show list data so that when you click on an item in a list you are presented with a new screen with a new sub list on it.

I have been using an event listener to detect mouse / touch input and based on something I read that indicated that performance is much better if you keep the number of objects you are listening to to a minimum I have attached the mouse listeners from each screen to the stage object.

This all works fine but I am finding that as I move between screens (and they get popped or pushed onto the dislay stack) I have to keep track of alot of adding and removing listeners to the stage object. If I don't then windows higher up the hierarchy than the current screen keep receiving mouse events.

If I used listeners attached to sprites in each window then when the window was removed from the display even though it is kept in memory (ready to be popped back when a child window is closed) it won't receive any mouse events....

Performance doesn't seem to be impacted using listeners directly on sprites when using my HTC phone to test with, however I obviously don't know what it will be like on other phones. Does anyone have any experience either way or a view on the best approach?

Code:
_root.attachMovie(loader,loader,depth - 1,{_x:(stage._width / 2), _y:(stage._height / 2)});

Here, loader is a variable containing the movie's name which is to be loaded. I tried writing the movie's mane instead of loader but still no luck.

Flash :: Event Action On Clicking A Hyperlink From A Textbox?

Feb 17, 2011

I want to be able to link an Action Script event to clicking text within a text box.The only thing I can see is to just create a basic Hyper Link, but not apply any action:I have been messing around for over an hour but just can't see a way to apply actionscript and all the tutorials on the internet seem to target ActionScript 3 or not do exactly what I want.The reason for this is that there is background music to the site and when YouTube is launched, it needs to be muted. I know the code to mute and have done this on custom objects before, but I can't see any way to apply script to a textbox hyperlink.Whilst I would ideally like to do it this way, I am happy to consider any solution resulting in opening a page and muting the site.To be honest, I tried doing a quick switch to AS3, but as there are so many problems that would need addressing, I would rather spend the time converting the site to HTML/Jquery or even Silverlight.
