I followed some tutorials about carousels but they all move in eliptical way. The carousel that i have to makedoes not have to move in eliptical way, but like the image below. The controller for this carousel is a scrollbar thati already made.

The game requires me to keep track of and tell robots to go to an x position and build something. There is some priority as to what robot gets selected based on their current task. So i have 3 arrays set up in a globalvars class, I then sort these arrays in order of least priority. There will be instances of the array being completely empty so I check to see if the GLOBALVARS.aBobIdle is undefined. When I exicute the code does not trace any of the trace functions and traces out a bunch of lines in the output pannel that look like this

(I'm not looking for a solution, (in fact, I could care less. It was just for a quick project and was never actually used anywhere. That error is very likely being caused by a bug in either the compiler or Flash Player). I just thought this was an interesting error which acts quite unexpectedly.)This code throws a runtime error "VerifyError: Error #1030: Stack depth is unbalanced."But this is no standard error! It starts off by listing the bytecode for the function or section that throws the error! (or maybe it's more bytecode than that, I can't tell) Very wonky indeed!

I've added Previous/Next buttons which clients always seem to demand, and I've given the thumbnail buttons a static position (something I need to do). I'm having problems getting the buttons to stack in rows/columns though. I can't work with one long column or row of buttons - they need to be stacked in rows, say 6 buttons per row and 6 columns across so that there is a nice box arrangement to the buttons. But the way the functions are written its hard to make adjustments to the placement of clips.
I'm loading in a bunch of images with a for loop. The images do appear on stage so that part works, however, spacing them is the problem. this is what the following code traces out:

this is the code i got from a tutorial....here the images are loader and when the mouse is over each image the CAPTION is shown under the image in a text box. but what i need is...i want the CAPTION to appear when i click on the image(not on mouse over), but i cant find any mouseover event here as well.
I am loading an image into a movie clip via AS3, and what I want to do is center the image inside the movieclip. The problem is that I can't seem to grab the width value of the image being loaded. Below is what I'm doing:

When I trace the width, it always comes back at zero(0) even though there is an image inside the imageLoader. What is it I need to do to find the actual width so I can center the image?

I as this working in AS2 and need to update to AS3...shows that AS3 doesn't like sloppy coding. Here's what I need: I pull data from an XML and that works when I put the data into a dynamic text box. However, I can't seem to get the date of birth into a variable. I have some code that calcs age in years but uses a string literal that I thought I could just replace with a variable from my XML...ain't a workin'. Here's the code I have:

View 2 RepliesI would like to have an image that is wider than the viewing area be viewed by dragging a slider left or right, it's basically just a custom scrollbar. My first inclination is to make a mask and put the image behind it, and then I assume I would have to connect the slider to the image somehow so when user clicks and drags slider left or right, the image slides with it to show the part so it that are obscured.

I am hoping to create a nav device similar to that on the ite. Find the circular nav thingy and move it left and right to move the environment in the background. See how it speeds up the further it gets away from the centre and slows down to a stop when gets back to the centre. I am not worried about the zoom effect butcreating the left and right movement. I am not much of a coder as I am graphic designer.

I have been searching for hours for a nice simple tutorial or fla file but I cant find one. The movie clip currently has 8 frames each one an image, but it may have more or less.
I don't want to create movie clips inside movie clips; rather I have created a button which is fixed to slide along a 400px line. I would like to know what on earth I write to link the movement of the slider button to the frames in the movie clip... for example the first image would be displayed when the slider button is between 0 and 50 pixels of the line upon which it slides.

5 buttons, 5 thumbs. I click on the third thumbnail, it shows me the 3rd picture. Pretty simple, pretty straight forward. How do I add a time limit? For instance if I click on button #3, and I stay there for 12 seconds without clicking, it goes to #4, 12 seconds later to #5, 12 seconds later to #1, etc?
