I am trying to create a flash wich will have multiple dots to indicate locations, on mouseover to these dots a panel will appear on the right hand side showing some related information.
View 1 RepliesI have many base images that I need to combine to construct larger images to draw on Sprite objects. I understand that the beginBitmapFill() method of the Graphics class renders a bitmap on a Sprite's graphics object. So I figure that I need to manipulate the BitmapData object, adding the base images to produce a composite image that I can then draw on my Sprite.
My question is: Is there any clean and relatively hassle free way of doing this? Is there a way to draw Bitmaps to certain locations in a Sprites graphics context? Could you copy a Graphics object onto another at certain coordinates and build it that way?
I'm trying to generate multiple stars in the stage, but I keep getting an action script error.

I'm Trying to develop a small game where the user chooses from a range of boxes of the left of screen and can drag 3 of them separatley to 3 holding boxes on ther right. each box can be dragged to any location and the order is not important. Once the 3 holding boxes are all full I want a new button to appear. I completed a tutorial and I've got one box working perfectly but no matter what i try I can't get it working with multiple boxes and locations. Below is a list of the instance names of the movie clips plus my actionscript. I've attached a link to the flash file.

I can't get my head around how to format the xml or how to code the flash file to sort according to location name alphabetically and then press a button that will sort it by category 1st and second by name alphabetically.

I have a map, which dots for locations, and a list on the right of place names. I want to rollover, say, Paris and the dot over central/northern France glows (expands, flashes, something... I know that would be in the movie over France).
So my question is, if the buttons on the right are the parts that mouseover (and will change colour, like good web links should) how do I get the dots on the map to change when the name is rolled over?
Has anyone ever seen or made a 'connect the dots' game done in Flash?

I guess this is in part for a design aesthetic, and the other to reduce the visible amount of pixellation from the compression.Can anyone tell me how to create this sort of effect dynamically, or am i going to have to duplicate a million movieclips? And if i do, will this affect performance?

We built a demo for a product we may build. The demo is in flash for FP 9 and is one master clip that loads about a dozen other clips. All these clips are intended to load locally in a browser window (just from the file system - not a server). What we noticed is that the two computers we developed this on (with Flash CS5 on them) show this fine in it's finished form (1 .html page / 1 main .swf - 12 child .swfs in a subfolder).
But on all other computers without Flash IDE installed it doesn't work. It loads the page in a browser and then just shows a grey screen with 5 "loading" dots that just repeat in the middle of the screen. I have not seen this before and didn't build the app - before i start digging into the code (was told maybe a problem with the loader trying to load from the file system as opposed from a URL) I wanted to know what could be causing this?

I'm looking to do a preloader for my site, what I want to do is that the user sees the percentage loaded, but instead of the typical bar filling up, I want dots to fill the screen. Each dot would appear with each percentage loaded. So for example, if its on 5%, there would be 5 dots, when it moves to 6%, another dot would appear on the screen. So in the end there would be 100 dots/circles on the screen. maybe say in a 10 by 10 grid. I know how to make the percentage loaded appear, but have no idea about the dots.

Currently, when I press tab several times, the focus goes through all the components in my popup window and then starts focusing the buttons and TextFields from the components that are behind the popup. I got a movieclip called eqNotch that's just a rectangle and its linkage name is EqNotch.I also have a movieclip where I am writing my as3 on the first frame, its called dynamicBar and linkage name is DynamicBar.
I've successfully written the code for the dynamicBar to create one column of eqNotches and the number of rows is dependent on mic activity.[code]...
I am trying to create a multiple file upload flash application to be called from an External Interface, but it isn't working.
AS3:

When I run the script and comment out the fileRef parts and uncomment the alert call, it shows the alert, also when I comment out the ExternalInterface call, leaving only the fileRef parts, it shows the file upload dialog.
When I run it as intended, I get the following error:

Instead of 10 items in a list all going to 1 new view but with different info being generated I want 10 different view, 1 per item in the list.
