ActionScript 3.0 :: Deform/change Pitch/temp Of A Loaded Mp3 ?
Apr 28, 2009Is it possible to deform/change pitch/temp of a loaded mp3 in AS3.0 ?

View 1 RepliesHow can I create a sound object which is just a solid beep, is that possible or will I just need to have an mp3?
Also how can I change the pitch of that beep via actionscript?
I am trying to figure out how to change the pitch of a sound in Standing Wave 3 actionscript library. I have imported a sound at 440hz(A) and am trying to change it's pitch to say a (C) note.
View 1 RepliesI'm finding lots of ways to change the "speed" of a loaded mp3 file. However, is it possible to only change the pitch or tempo (and not both at the same time)?
View 1 RepliesI'd like to know if it is possible to change the tempo/pitch of a sound when an event happens? So I just like to speed up a looping sound...
View 2 RepliesI am very interested in applying the warp/deform effect seen in the iPhone app Wobble (it lets you define regions on a raster image and then deforms those regions as it gets input from the accelerometer or the user's touch as if they had adopted faux soft-body physics) to a game I am making, but I'm not sure how this effect was achieved. How I might program an analogous effect using Flash and as3?
View 2 RepliesI'm exporting my video to Quicktime and there's an option that comes up while doing so. It asks where I want to store my temp data, either "In memory" or "On disk". Which should I choose?
View 3 RepliesI would like to locally save an XML file with ActionScript, as a temp file, if at all possible. I've read all about how AS won't let you do this without dialogs (and I understand the security concerns), but surely there must be some sort of temp option? I need to dynamically generate some XML to pass to another swf using URLVariables (I have no control over this part). Right now, I can only pass in previously created XML files.
var urlReq:URLRequest = new URLRequest(url);
var variables:URLVariables = new URLVariables();
variables.data_file = "us/data.xml"; //data.xml is static/already created
urlReq.data = variables;
ldr.load(urlReq);
I would like to replace us/data.xml with xml I've created.
i have an important sound files i need advice and directing how can i use flash to play them only on site without being downloaded to temporary inernet
files? is it semple or too complicated? and can i do it my self if i tried to learn ?
Is there any way of disabling flash files to get saved in the temp folder of the user's machine? In other words, saving the swf files from being copied?
View 1 RepliesHow can I find the path to the user's temp folder (e.g. C:UserslisnilAppDataLocalTemp) from Flash/AS3? It needs to work on any version of Windows, at least XP, Vista and 7.
View 1 RepliesI am using many external swf file in my flex application,but when i use the files which are in same name its not getting refreshing properly, so i need to delete my temp file without refreshing the application.
View 0 RepliesAfter browsing the documentation for the sound classes, it seems there is no way to control sound pitch with Actionscript 3.0. there is only the ability to control volume and pan. why is there no pitch property? it's the only sound property missing for the ability to create a full featured sound engine in Actionscript?
i hope i'm misinformed, but in case i'm not are there any alternatives / workarounds to control pitch in AS3?
I'm working the last two weeks on a module which uses computeSpecturm() to analyze FFT data from a mic. I'm currnetly trying to figure out a way to detect the pitch on each 'sample' of this sound. Does any one know how to find the fundamental frequencty or how to use auto-correclation on the FFT to get the pitch?
View 4 RepliesI'm looking for a way to play a sound with slightly altering pitch to make it more "interesting" (read: tolerable).
I've previously used it with great results in java programming with the Slick library. Simply asked the sound to be played at 0.9 - 1.1 of original pitch (1 = default), gave a subtle but awesome effect.
I have a project where I dynamically generate a single tone and have to alter its frequency as the scene progresses. All the ways I have tried so far result in a clicking or popping noise when the tone's frequency changes. Does anyone have some source code for a way to change the frequency without the irritating click/pop noises?
View 8 RepliesWhat I'm trying to do is take a recording from the mic which is converted into bytearray. It will look something like this
ActionScript Code:
function startRecord():void{
mic.addEventListener(SampleDataEvent.SAMPLE_DATA, micSampleDataHandler);
}function stopRecord():void{
mic.removeEventListener(SampleDataEvent.SAMPLE_DATA, micSampleDataHandler);
soundBytes.position = 0;

I'm developing using Actionscript 3.0 for Flash Player 10.3.I'm using computeSpectrum() on a loaded .mp3. Running *Event.ENTER_FRAME* to get snapshots of each sample in an byteArray.The ByteArray contains 512 values (256 for each channel). These values are FFT Spectrum, ranging from 0 to 1.I can't use the peak frequency for each of the samples (as I found found out!) because the highest value is not necessarily the fundamental frequency. As a result I'm getting lots of random values all over the place.Of course I'm getting some correct too, but that's not enough.
View 4 Repliesi am having this very big problem(for my particular application). i am writing this music application in flash and i use as2 to load randomly specific sounds which are in the same folder as the movie. the problem is that i need the sound to be replayed with fidelity and it seems flash is lowering the pitch of the "music" by a halfstep(it does the same when "previewing" it from the library). musically speaking, if i have an mp3 containing A at 440 hz played with piano timbre, Flash will lower it and when it is played through the flash player is its played as a G sharp(35 hz lower). I thought that if i will replace the attachSound with loadSound and the sound will be loaded externally and not from the library the problem will be solved. it seems that this won't solve the probem. the sound just doesn't want to be played at the frequency it has in the file from which is loaded. i had read somewhere that this is a flash player's bug.
View 8 Repliesany thoughts on how to extract the audio from a movie? Pitch shifting is do-able to this article:But the code uses the Sound class.I've NO idea how to go about extracting the audio from a movie/FLVPlayback

View 1 RepliesI have an array of three values.focal[x,y,z]these values change based on user input.however when the change occurs, they are logged into a new array to test for valid changed.A simplified psuedo version of my code:[code]However, when the focal[1]++; focal[0]--; ect, ect, code takes place. It also changed the temp array.and since it changes my temp, it never resets me original code back to its previous nature.I have never seen this behavior and its kinda throwin' me off.

dane_xml = new XML();
dane_xml.ignoreWhite = true;[code]....
and this last trace gives me undefined while trace(temp) gives me what I want
I created a flash application which loads in many other little flash applications (.swf files) based on menu selections. When I change one of the little applications the changes are viewable except when I change the background color.
After the first time I view the application, the background color changes do not carry over to the main app. I run the little ones stand alone and they show the new color, then I run the main app and any other changes I have made are there but not the color change. When I remove the file and the load fails, the old backround color still displays in the container movie clip the .swf was previously loaded into.
I have tried several different options and the only thing that worked was renaming and copying and deleting and making a big mess. There has to be a way to force a refresh of this mysteriously saved color. doesn't there?
Is there any as3 based source code that accomplishes pitch detection or beat detection accurately? Doesn't have to be both, if you know of at least one of those,
