View 2 RepliesIt has been awhile since I have worked in flash.Right now I am working on something where I would like a panel to disappear when someone mouses off the stage.stage.addEventListener(Event.MOUSE_LEAVE, leaveHandler); It usually works fine but if I move my mouse really fast it doesn't fire. I have also tried the same thing using a custom invisible button that surounds the perimeter of the stage and I have tried ROLL_OVER and MOUSE_OVERand again, if I do it too fast my event doesn't fire (I am using trace)I can't find anything on the net about this - is this typical of flash that if you move your mouse too fast you break it? Do I need to increase my frame rate (I would really rather not because I have perfectly timed animations - I am at 30 frames per second)
View 1 RepliesI have designed a menu that When you mouse over it, a custom cursor appears. When you mouse down it disappears and when you mouse up it returns. If you happen to mouse down and then drag the mouse off of the menu (whilst in mouse down) and then mouse up outside the menu, the custom cursor disappears. All good. The only issue is: If you happen to mouse down on the menu and then drag the mouse off of the menu AND off of the stage, i.e the SWF (whilst in mouse down) and then mouse up completely off of the stage, the custom cursor appears at the point it left the menu. I have tried to fix this using MOUSE_LEAVE but this dosnt work when the mouse button is pressed down. I have attached an FLA, SWF and the AS below.

I'm trying to teach myself ActionScript 3 and I've made amovie clip where on 'roll-over' and image fades in and on'roll-out' the image fades out. It works great as long as I movethe mouse slowly. But if I go too fast, it locks up on the fade inand doesn't realize the the roll-out has already happened.

View 1 RepliesI am an extreme novice in Flash and I've built a drop down menu following a tutorial from YouTube - sadly this took me days! It functions BUT fast mouse movement away from the menu drop down seems to prevent the drop down menu from closing. Does anyone know of a fix for this?
Second question - I know how to create text links but when I do this the text's position jumps down without me having told it to. So is there a way to apply a link to a button rather than the text in the button, and is it possible to also apply a link to a movie clip?[URL]...
The flash site I'm working on has an underwater theme, and I think it would be neat to have it make sort of "whoosh" sound when the mouse moves fast, like the sound that comes from moving your hand through water, and I was wondering if there was a way for actionscript to know when the mouse moves quickly. It's not comepletely neccessary, just something that would be cool and add to the underwater feel of the thing.

I'm currently creating a navigation bar for a project using flash cs4, action script 3.
As you can see in the picture there is a navigation bar, and inside this bar there is a small rectangle and two lines (located at the first located at x=25 and the second x=555).
I want the rectangle to follow the mouse but be slightly delayed (elastic?).. Another requirement is that rectangle only moves on the x axis and therefore the y axis doesn't change(it is y=68), but doesn't move further than the two lines. The rectangle is a movie clip and its name is 'rectangle'
I pretty much want it exactly the same as this [URL] except the ball can only move on the x-axis and in between the two lines.
I would like to make a similar effect with car movement found on that site:

i assume that there will be something to do with "_x = _x+_xmouse" but how do i define the boundries and what about the wheel movement? Or maybe it would be better to do this as a MC and if x of the mouse is less than x of MC then prevFrame, if its more then nextFrame ? Have no idea how to put it all together

But my problem is that i need a certain frame within the mc to play if the mouse is at a certain area of the stage. For example, if the mouse is at the x coordinate of 235 to the left, frame 2 of the movieclip will play. I uploaded just a test fla that i was practicing on.

I have a mc that I want to continously rotate, I want it to rotate in whatever direction the mouse is from the center of the mc. If the user pulls the mouse out I would like for it to speed up and slow down accordingly.If this is not possible, I wouldnt cry. Any way when the user goes over a desiginated area I would like for the motion to stop until they pull away again.How would I go about doing this.I've seen this thread but don't understand where to attach the script, and I also need the stopping script

I want to recreate the same effect (this has been done) but with a little twist, and I do not know how to code the mask with Action Script.What I want to achieve is this:
1. Lock my mask on the Y axis;
2. When I mouse over it, the mask would move up and down;
3. The mouse cursor would disapear while being in the mask.
My flash file is almost complete. I just need the code to move the mask.

View 2 RepliesI have one very large movieclip, and I'd like to create a very smooth (eased), tween, that moves it around the stage, on mouse move. so far, I've read the "get mouse direction" article, and that's helped a lot. and I'm calculating the distance the mouse is moving.. and that's all good and dandy,.. but I'm having a little trouble converting that into a smooth scroll.. I'd like to use tweenmax preferably, and not an on enterframe.
View 14 RepliesI have proper code to make objects rotate on an axis adjacent to the mouse. I also have proper code on how to make objects elastically bounce towards a specific x,y coordinate.
So far the code I have is for the object to follow the mouse when clicked. when the mouse is up, the objects (on a rotational axis) wind back to original position.
What I would like to do, is combine the formulas for rotation with the elastic formulas to bounce these objects back into place with rotational movement.

basically this is the code i got from a kirupa tutorial and i just want the graphic to be moved on the x axis

When I try to rotate a movie clip along the x-axis on the default stage size (I'm using a basic rectangle right now), the rotation appears just as I expect it to. It "rolls over" with the perspective even on both sides of the rectangle.
When I try to duplicate this in a movie with different dimensions (320x480) and apply the 3D Rotation Tool, the rectangle skews to the left for some reason. (See attached .fla files)
I've tried changing the registration points on the movie clips, I've tried making new files with the "Adjust 3D Perspective Angle to preserve current stage projection" box checked both on and off, and I've tried repositioning the actual Rotation Tool, but I can't figure out what's wrong. Could it have something to do with the stage resizing?!
