I know there is a way to hide a button until the video on the page has completed but how do i target this if the video is loaded as in a .flv?I use the same buttons to go to different frames in the swf and all pages (frames) have a video on them.How do i hide the button until the video has completed?
View 9 RepliesI am trying to create a video that can be streamed on a website. The video started with a screen grab of the video on frame one. This has the action on stop();. When this screengrab is clicked, gotoAndStop(2); is fired and the timeline moves to frame 2 and the video starts to stream. All is well... Except from when the video finishes...
When the video finishes I have tried using the code
on (complete) {
gotoAndPlay(1);
}
To go back to the origonal screen grab on frame one but it doesnt seem to budge.
In the cosmicpanda update for youtube, you can go from a video page to the video creators profile page while your video is still playing in flash. Does anyone how Youtube accomplishes this? I would like to know if it's possible to keep the flash state of a site constant while moving from page to page on a site.It doesn't seem as if the flash is reloading, so I don't think that they are just saving cookies for the current video time and starting the video at that point when they refresh.I would assume that they're using ajax, but the application of this feature is really clean. The URL gets correctly changed to the users' profile page's URL. The back button still works as it should. (I can press back and forward between video page and user profile page and the video continues going clean and never drops.)
View 2 RepliesI have a couple of questions with regards to video playback in Flash using AS 3. I'm not very good with flash coding so I've used the default video importer to import the video (file > import > import video). However I'm trying to put an event handler in that will detect when playback has completed and then take the viewer back to the main menu. I know it has something to do with NetStatusEvent but not sure how to connect it with the video.
Additionally when a viewer is watching a video, if they click a button below the video it takes them, say, back to the main menu. However the video continues to play in the background. I have put a 'video.pause();' on any button that takes the viewer away from the video, however the video is still loading in the background which isn't the ideal.
Is there anyway to use ActionScript (and/or Flashvars) to tell a video page to begin with the Mute button toggled to off? We are creating a page for multiple-languages, and the client wants the sound to begin muted. I have yet to figure out what kind of variable is used by muteButton in the built in skin, whether its a boolean with true/false or what.

I am trying to create an invisible button to add to my completed project and I have hit a snag because of AS3 which will not let you set actions on a button symbol. So I have tried a trick I was told about and wish to use the addEventListener code to attach an action to my button. My button is saved as a button symbol as well as been given an instance name but I am still getting errors I do not recognize. This is the simple actionscript I am trying to attach to the button:

Recently i have visited so many video enriched flash site like this one [URL] Most of them shows video in full size. I downloaded the video using FF plugin. Video framesize is very small compared to the stage size. When i tried to add video and resize the video acoording to the page size , it slows the browser. I tried to embed the flv inside an swf and loaded the swf using normal loader and plyed it.. but the quallity and performance comapred to these site is very low..
View 3 RepliesI'm working on an online portfolio of design work. I've set the jpegs up to load dynamically into movie clips so I don't have to keep them in my .fla file. To see the issue: please open "help_.fla" and 3 jpegs (same folder as the .fla file). Run the flash movie. Click on the "NVIDIA" in the top navigation, then on CBS Cable. When the first page of CBS Cable appears, click on the right arrow to see the next CBS page. Then, click again on "NVIDIA" in the top navigation bar.
1. How can I hide the left or right arrows depending on which CBS page I'm on? When I'm on the first page, for example, the back arrows should be hidden. 2. When I'm back in the NVIDIA page again, how can I hide the arrows still showing from the CBS Cable pages? Finally, what's up with the brief flashing of the NVIDIA screen when I click on the right or left arrows of the CBS pages? View 16 RepliesI have a an unobtrusive flash video looping in the background of a website, it is not essential to navigation - it is purely cosmetic.The flash video loops every 30 seconds.As this video is on all pages, it jumps back to the start when a new page is loaded.Is there an actionscript / javascript way to get it to remember the position it got to on the old page so it can start there on the new page?I do know that this can be accomplished by loading the flash movie in a frame as well as by having the subsequent pages load the contents in AJAX but I was hoping not to go down this route.I have seen other people ask the question and allude to the solution but they only posted that they got it to work without saying how.
View 1 RepliesI am using actionscript 3 to make a point and click game. On frame 1 there are two buttons, button 1 and 2. On frame 3 there are two buttons, button A and B. I want it so that after I click button 1 on frame 1, button A on frame 3 will be hidden or when I click button 2 on frame 1, button B on frame 3 will be hidden. The buttons that are hidden do not do anything when you click them.
View 2 Repliesi have some preloader frustrations..dont point me to a previous preloader thread...i have been there already and no im not talking about any preloader that loads the WHOLE movie at the beginning, i know how those work... I need a tutorial/explanation that will teach me how to load a move 'button by button' or 'page by page'.
By this I mean, the first thing the movie will do is load the first 'page' and say you have a few more buttons on that 'page'. It loads all the buttons and that 'page' first..nothing else...then i click one of the buttons (no matter what order) and the 'page' switches to a preloader and then when the second 'page' is loaded, it is displayed.So many sites have this kind of preloader...but i cant believe how many tutorial sites only teach how to program the type of preloader that just loads the WHOLE movie.
Is there a way to hide the controls on a flash video (flv) until the user scrolls over the video? So the page opens, the video starts playing (still no controls visable) and then when a user scrolls over the video, you then see the controls for the first time. I have searched high and low.

I'm currently trying to figure out how to get the video to play then fade / hide when it finishes or the user clicks the exit button so it will then reveal the page below. It's being built as a multi-swf site (ActionScript 2) and if I can get this figured out then I should be on my way to finishing the site.

I'm trying to create an overlay containing a flash player that is shown when a user clicks on a link. The div containing the player starts with display:none in CSS. Upon clicking, the div will be shown, and JS will use ExternalInterface to configure and start the player. The JS configures the player when it catches a "flash ready" event, which is fired by Flash on ADDED_TO_STAGE.All this works, except that the ExternalInterface callbacks are never created. The JS and AS3 work fine if the player is shown upon page load, or is hidden with visibility:hidden instead of display:none. I am aware that Flash will not be initialized with display:none, and this works as expected: when the Flash is unhidden, it fires its events and correctly initializes everything else (eg. GUI, other internal stuff). The only thing that doesn't happen as expected is that my ExternalInterface callbacks are not added.
ExternalInterface.available is true. It's not a timing problem, because even after several minutes the callbacks are still not present. The strangest bit is that the flash is able to call JS, fires JS events fine, and the code to fire the events comes after the code to add the callbacks. There are no errors thrown by any of the AS3 code. I'm seeing this problem in both Chrome and Firefox.

So I'm trying to make a full flash website, and I've read some good tutorials on the net, but some of the script codes the tutorials provide doesn't work. I'm trying to link a button to a page like google, or a page on the flashsite. I just purchased Flash cs4, so that might be the reason why the tutorial codes doesn't work..

When I click on the mute one, I want to make it so that it hides the mute one and makes the unmute button visible and vice-versa. I have tried using the ._alpha on release for actions but its not working. I also tried using ._visible.

[URL] The Adobe documentation assumes you are an expert with Flash and there are no clear cut examples of how to even show and hide a darned button, well, I can't find any referrences. I can imagine what I want to do with flash, but getting anything out of it cracks open my brain. Programming is not fair!!! for us graphic artists. Examples of things I want to study are loading images to the stage on a specific event such as "if(enterFrame == x)" ideally I would like the images to load from a directory on the server and ease in the image.
Basically I want to keep it simple yet effective. Alot of the code I see out there is double dutch to me and appears to go in the wrong direction of simplifying things. I can understand the basic fundamentals, but I wish when people post examples like myMC1.visible = true; that they explain that myMC1 is just a name chosen by the writer to look for an item called myMC1 or go the extra step and color code the code BLUE for actual code, RED for names of items given by the writer that exist on the stage etc etc...

What is the syntax that I use hide my button (button_mc) while the MovieClip is playing and have it reappear once the MovieClip is finished playing? Should the syntax appear after my ending bracket or before?
I have a swf file that has numerous buttons on it, and when I hover over them images appears. But when my images appears, I have other buttons (whose layers are on top of this current button layer) also appear on top of my images. I tried merging all my buttons onto one layer, but that doesn't seem to work either.
How would I be able to not make those other buttons appear on my hover state without using ActionScript?
