View 1 RepliesI have a simple flash that has 2 layers 2 images. one image is on the first frame and the other image is on the second keyframe. Actionscript starts on 1st keyframe. What I have it doing is loading frame one stop() reads the actionscript checks the date if the date is met it goes and stops on frame 2 and plays other image:
Everytime the flash refreshes it plays frame one then jumps to frame 2 if the date is met. How do I avoid playing frame one if the date is met what it's doing is playing the first image before the date change and a split second after it plays frame 2. (you see a hiccup)
i need the flash to "preload, check the actionscript before it loads if the date is met automataclly go to frame 2 avoiding frame one all together.

i am creating a game now this is complex but i have been told by my fellow actioncript co worker that its doable, What it is i have a game "Reaction Tester" and It is inside a car going along the road so its psudeo 3d and i have the "walls" and road sorted now i want a movie clip in the road to throw out random objects From a Movie clip, now i will call them from frame names, say..
frame 1-10 is a tween with a box coming down and then frame 11-20 is a cat and frame 21-30 is a hole in the road Etc i want it to call a random frame to frame, to play
i'm making a game and to score some extra performance im rendering every frame of every entity into an array of bitmapdata's the first time the frame is seen, and it works well, but its wasting alot of memory because we have alot of animations, and most of them are double framed at least, so more than half of the bitmaps could be ignored if there was a way to determine if a frame is a keyframe or not

View 3 RepliesI used the liquid Flash layout file from this site , but i got one problem.I placed the script in a layer called actionscript and on frame 1, under it there is a other layer called background. I placed in just a square with a gradient color and made it a movieclip. I also placed this on frame 1. Everything is working perfect from this point but when i want to place a keyframe on frame 10 in the background layer and make a motion tween so that the background fades in from 0 opacity to 100, it doesn't work.

i have many actionscript classes. i will give the codes to some other programmer but i don't want to let him to see all of the code. how can i make code unreadable but make project run? is creating swc or library make this?

for (var i = 0 ; i < 10000000; i++) ;stop();I've placed this code in frame 1 of a flash app. As you can see it does nothing but count to 10,000,000. This takes about 20 seconds to execute.
In C#.NET, this one line runs over 400 times faster. It can count to one billion in less time. Why? I could see it being faster in C#, but what could possibly be going on under the hood that could make it 400 times slower in AS, given that the one line should reduce to just a few machine instructions?
(If you're wondering, I've been tasked with porting some C# code to ActionScript. The code has some scientific calculations in it. But in AS they run so slow that it is unusable. This is the most basic example of the problem.)

I would like to learn how to create a flash keyboard that will be used in a touchscreen machine. Currently I have given myself some basic feature idea for the keyboard but have not start coding it yet since I'm not familiar with flash, they should be able to switch textboxes and have backspace button, a tab button, a spacebar button. Is anyone willing to show me a tutorial or a sample code for a head start?EDIT: I have found one AS3 keyboard,the textbox and keyboard are coded out but I need multiple textboxes.How can I drag and drop multiple textbox and keyboard into the screen instead?(because i need to have like 3 textboxes and a keyboard that I can design it, with the coded keyboard, can I change the design/color of the keyboard?)

I have a project and i have an issue with an idea i have. The index of the website is in html with a simple link to enter the main menu page in flash. But in the main menu i have a movie clip of a man in the center. In fact, i have 3 different images of men that i want to make appear, in a shuffle way, instead of 1. So when people visit the website, the main menu page could present 1 of the 3 pictures i chose in a random way. So a kind of shuffle every time someone log into the main menu page. So do you know what kind of code i could write to make it work ? It could be in the index page (html) or in the flash page itself ?
View 1 RepliesI am trying to set up a code that will make a MovieClip visible = false when you press the spacebar then reapear when you hit the spacebar again. I had it working once but I lost the code somehow ... think I deleted the wrong file. the one time I got it to work I used a keylistener and stuck the code in the action panel on the timeline at frame 1.
I thought maybe there is a way to do the same thing but instead of the frame 1 action panel thing. I thought you might be able to set it up in a movieclip class action script file. I did these tutorials on the kongregate site ... shootorials and they teach you how to make a MC move with the arrow keys which was easy ... they had you make a ship into a movie clip then you created a new AS class file for the ship movie clip. Then they placed the code under the function onEnterFrame() in the ship class AS file which works well when you want to move something ... because it checks every frame.
I can set up what I want in that area just fine ... problem is it fires off every frame .. so my movie clip blinks on and off several times everytime I hit the spacebar. I just want it to disapear when you hit the spacebar then become visible again when you hit the spacebar again.
Seems like this should be a very easy thing to do but I spent all day reading through tutorials and searching google everything I tried all I did was run into one error or another when I tried to compile for a test.
I am very new to all this so the other thing that confuses me is the fact that you can put code in so many different places and depending on where it goes the same thing might be written a different way depending on where you write it.
I was just wondering if there was a simple way to make external code files in actionscript 1.0 and then call the files into your program with a simple line of code like you can in the newer versions of actionscript.
