ActionScript 3.0 :: Make Object Disappear And Stay Hidden?
Feb 8, 2010
I'm currently working on a game that has multiple 'scenes' located on each frame. In one scene, if you click on an object it disappears. I did this using the visible = false method. However, anytime you return the scene after, the object is visible again. How would I write the code so that it stays invisible permanently when you click it, regardless of whether or not you leave and later return to the scene?
I didnt see a place in preferences to keep edges hidden. I have some text that has a dotted line around it. I can hide it with hide edges, but as soon as I select them and let go, the edges come back. maybe their not edges since theyre dotted. maybe its flash telling me somethings not set up correctly? anyone?
I tried adapting a bit of script from one Tonypa posted some time ago about making a hidden objects game.I want to have a movieclip play on top of a randomly selected movieclip from an array, but I don't seem to have it.Here is the hint script part.....
this._parent.hint.visible=false; function showHint () { var n=Math.floor(Math.random()*this._parent["object" + i].length);
I am a learner. I am using one object which animates from a corner and comes to the middle of the stage (Using Motion Tween for animation). What I need is when it comes to the middle of the stage it should disappear from the stage. How it is possible?
So, here is what I'm trying to do. I have a page full of characters for a project I'm working on now, and I want to add some interactivity to the page by making each of the characters clickable and having a description of the character pop up that you can then close. I have included 3 images of what I'd ideally like tohappen.Picture 1: The page in just a normal state, nothing happening.Picture 2: On rollover, I would like the character to pop out and enlarge.I know how to make it enlarge on rollover, but I don't understand how you would make it come to the front above other layers. with understanding how to do.
Picture 3: I want a description like this to pop up when you click on the character. I have a layer at 50% opacity to fade the background out as well. I need to know how to:1. Make this image show up when you click on the respective character.2. Make this image disappear when you click on the red X button at the top right
I've just finished using this bit of simple code to get an object to move around randomly. What I want to do is try and get it to disapear or move off the stage after say a minute (with a countdown clock in the corner starting from a minute and counting down).
a) A full moon is there on the screen in which Name and Password field is there. b)The movement the user types his name and password and after pressing enter the moon should fade for some other animation.
Is action script needed for this?.
Am just a sort of general flash animator I don't know how to do things differently.
The animation further should continue where a steel door should open, two velvet ropes should be pulled aside which will make the bookcase wall swivels around to reveal the next animation
how to achieve point a and b.I will try pondering the rest on opening the steel door and pulling the velvet ropes that swivels the bookcase and goes to reveal another animation....
I have a game where "targets" hide behind trees and when they pop out from behind, you click them and they are destroyed. For some reason though, when you click the tree they are hiding behind, they still get destroyed. I want them to be safe from the user clicks when hiding. Here is a sample of the code I am using:
Code:
stage.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, onClickHandler, false, 0, true); function onClickHandler(event:MouseEvent):void {
but that did nothing as well. As you can see, it is not the click of the user that causes the target to disappear, but the hittestobject that causes it to disappear.
I'm wondering if a hidden navbar can be done at the left side of my flash whereby i can trigger it to open by sliding out with all the submenus and close it. I know it can but done in javascript but can it be done in actionscript?
I'm currently trying to build a hidden object game, but am having difficulty getting accurate results with where the mouse is clicking. I thought using hitTestPoint to check whether the mouse's coordinates were actually colliding with the pixels of the shape would work, but this produces the exact same results as simply checking for a MouseEvent.CLICK event. It seems to be returning true even if the pixels being clicked on are transparent (i.e. just background/not part of the shape). Is there any way to check whether the pixels being clicked on actually contain the image of the object being searched for?
I'm using jQuery Autocomplete just as in this example: [URL] The problem is, the area where you see the Result box in that example - that's where my flash object is. So, when the autocomplete dropdown appears, most of the text is concealed by the flash object (which I can't move). How can I make the autocomplete text appear over the flash object (concealing its view rather than vice versa)?
These events fire a function which looks like this: loader.load(new URLRequest(getPath()));
My other code is: loader = new Loader(); loader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.INIT,initHandler);
[code]....
If my picture takes up the area where the buttons are, the buttons slip underneath the image. How can I make the buttons stay on top all the time? My movie works fine as long as the picture that I load from a nearby directory does not cover the buttons..
I am working on an interactive site to design necklaces. I have hit areas where the jewels (they are movie clips) can be placed. How do I get the movie clips (jewels) that are in the hit areas to stay and the ones that are still in "drawer" to choose from to disappear when I go on to the next step?
i have been using gotoandlearn for about 2 months now and would like to know if anyone can elaborate on one of lee's tutorials...I ve been trying my self to figure it out (you know, learn) but i can seem to get it right.im trying to have the button (mc) stay in the over state once it is pressed.[code]the reason i went with the gotoandstop at frame 10 is bc i have a stop action on it..
i'm working on a gallery that loads thumbnails from an xml file into 3 columns and when you click on a thumbnail it opens a new window with the fullsized image in.
I have modified code from a gallery tutorial to load the thumbnails from a xml file. They are going in 3 columns at the moment (I don't understand why but they are) but only the last image has a hand cursor when you rollover it, and then when you click on it, it traces "undefined" into the output box.
I have put
Code:
trace(images_arr[i].attributes.fullsize);
just below the bit where it loads the thumbnails and it traces the right path from the xml file for each image.
get it to trace the right path from the xml file when you click on ALL the thumbnails, not just the last one.
Code: function GenerateThumbs() { images_arr = images_xml.firstChild.childNodes; gap = 10;
This is hard to explain. Basically the user needs to choose their sex and type in their name then press the continue button. The gender selection is a bathroom identificationesque picture of a girl and boy. The boy is blue and the girl is pink. When you roll over the boy, it becomes a lighter blue and when you roll over the girl it becomes a lighter boy.
What I don't know how to do is that when you click on the boy, it stays a lighter blue, and lighter pink for the girl. That way they can see what selection they made. Also, when you click the boy then click the girl, the girl will become highlighted and the boy no longer will be (so you can only choose one gender). How do I do this? And how do I tell the program to store the info for later use? (when gender is important). I know that this type of action is used often in games so hopefully someone can help me.
how to make the button stay in different color after it view the image on the stage? I know how to create a button but it just only change the color when I move my mouse over but after I move out then it will change back into the previous color...
I have created a game in which the user controls a object which moves across the bottom of the screen firing bullets at fish which randomly swim across the screen. My problem however is that when the timer runs out some of the fish stay on the screen instead of disappearing, I have tried everything to make them all go away but I always end up with one or two which stay stuck and remain there no matter what the user does. My code for the balloons moving n disappearing is as follows:
function moveBalloons() { // loop through balloons in array for(i=balloons.length-1;i>=0;i--) { // get speed and clip dx = balloons[i].d; balloon = _root[balloons[i].clip]; [Code] ......
I've made a site with small draggable "popup" windows (not actual windows since they are objects in flash..) I can drag em off the scene outside the edge. I've attempted many things.. A adaptation of the collision script found through search.. (on collision it stopped dragging) Worked nice, until you move the mouse real fast, then it can pass right through or partly through and the fact that it's stopdrag. It takes effort to get it from the edge. It's stuck basically.
I fixed it by making the on (press) change frame in a moveclip containing the border.. had a side effect though.. You can now drag the window out from the scene if you repetitively drag it towards the edge. Is there a way to limit a movieclips possible X & Y positions? (in both + & - range to make it a 4 cornered block). I also want the moveclip to keep moving up/down if if hits the right/left edge if you continue dragging it up/down (same with left/right edge also)
I tried the scrip from the "dynamic mask": onClipEvent (enterFrame) { getlimits = _root.normalpic.getBounds(_root); if (_root._xmouse>=getlimits.xMin && _root._xmouse<=getlimits.xMax && root._ymouse>=getlimits.yMin && _root._ymouse<=getlimits.yMax) { this._x = _root._xmouse; this._y = _root._ymouse; }}
I changed the size of the "normal pic" and it works lovely.. but it's on enterFrame... and I need to react on on press and on release.. : tried to adapt it but cant figure out how.. and besides the script don't allow movement along the edges (like I described above) and if you move the mouse fast enough the window stops short of the edge..
Someone has created a map where there are little colored buttons over building locationsThe buttons were made so that when you hover your cursor over them, they will bring up a little chat bubble (like the ones you see in comics) with the appropriate street address text. What I cannot figure out is how to, after removing the cursor from over a button, make the text bubble stay put so that those who see the map can highlight then copy and paste the street address from it.
I'm using a really simple bit of code on some fading in/out buttons which overlap each other slightly to ensure that the one with the cursor resting over it sits in front of the others:[code]problem being that this brings the button in front of everything across all layers. How do I change my swapdepths to make sure the layers above the buttons STAY above? - or do I need to add something to the other layers to give them a fixed 'depth'?
I'm trying to create a flash animation similar to this one and I want my text box to appear when the mouse is Down. I've created Whitebox and Text Layer but the problem is that they only appear when I make the click then dissapear immediately. How do I make the text box stay on the screen until another button is clicked?
How can I make my on rollover effect stay when it is clicked? So for example if I click on the home button stays highlighted or in this case keeps the on(rollover) frame selected until another link is clicked. An example would be the main nav on [URL]
