ActionScript 3.0 :: Make The Cursor Ignore An Object That Is On Top Of A Button?
Jun 28, 2009
obj1 is on top of obj2, covering it. obj2 has buttonMode set to true (so that it gives the mouse a hand cursor on mouseover). And obj2 has MouseEvent listeners, etc. But since obj1 is covering obj2, you can't actually click/mouseover obj2. How do I make it so that the mouse ignores obj1 and is able to interact with obj2 even though it is being covered?
I have a button_mc and within this button is another MC with a masked graphic to create a shine effect. My problem is that when this shine effect passes over the button and hits the mouse cursor it causes the button to deactivate. Is there a way for me to have the shine_mc within the button_mc be ignored by the mouse completely?
Is there a way to make a display object ignore completely all mouse events and also at the same time not prevent/hinder display objects below it from detecting mouse events?
Is there a way to make an object ignore a drop event, so that an object "under" it gets the event instead?Here's the scenario: (All are movieclips)[code]...
I am creating a dynamic text field in the IDE and putting it on top of a simple one-color square movie clip. I've attached a listener to the movie clip in AS 3, to make it act like a big button. However, since the text field is on top, it blocks the button from reading the cursor, within the text field. I set "selectable" to false in the IDE, on the text field, but that didn't seem to work. Any ideas? Do I have to add a listener to the text field, also?

I am using a custom cursor for my flash app and when I have the cursor click button1 (menu_btn in the code) it goes to scene2 and when I click button2 (current_btn in the code) it goes back to scene1. The problem is that when I click on button2 it leaves an image of the cursor right there on the button. It doesn't happen on button1. It was suggested that I am calling "cursor = new Cursor();" and extra time, but I am not. The code is below.
Is it possible to make a custom cursor with restraints (meaning you only see the cursor when you put your mouse in a certain spot, by defining both the max and min of the x & y), that is placed inside a movie clip; then make the movie clip move on the stage when you click certain buttons.
I have a sprite containing a 3x3 grid of boxes. I have a rollover event attached to the container sprite, but I only want it to fire off when I go over some of the boxes, not all. I've tried using mouseEnable = false and mouseChildren = false on the relevant boxes within the sprite, but when the cursor rolls over ANY boxes within the container sprite it fires off the event, not just the ones I want to be activated.How can I get the mouse to ignore certain children within the container sprite, without actually taking them out of the sprite?
I have a java class which has one field with getter and setter, and a second pair of getter and setter that access this field in another way:
public class NullAbleId { private static final int NULL_ID = -1; private int internalId;
[Code]....
(the reason for this construction is that I want to build a way to hande Nullable Intergers)
On the Flash/Flex client side, I have a Class with two properties: id and internalId (the id properties are only for testing, at the end they should return the internalId value)
BlazeDS seams to transfer both values: id and internalId, because both have a complete getter setter pair. I want Blaze not to transfer id, only internalId should be transferred.
If you search for "happy" you get no results but if you search for "Happy" you get 1 result.Is there a way to make the search ignore capital letters? So if you search for "happy" you get the same result as if you search for "Happy".
I need to have background music playing in a movie that has multiple tabs for the user to click on and go to different frames in the main timeline. I want background music throughout the movie, but it is interrupted by the mouse events. It skips to whatever frame the tabs are associated with. how I can make the music override or ignore the mouse events? I'm new to Actionscripting.
does anyone know how to make the initial text in an input text box disappear once your cursor changes from the arrow to the type cursor? For example, I have an input text box which has the text visible saying "enter your email address here" I want this text to disappear automatically when the user goes to type something there...
So, here is what I'm trying to do. I have a page full of characters for a project I'm working on now, and I want to add some interactivity to the page by making each of the characters clickable and having a description of the character pop up that you can then close. I have included 3 images of what I'd ideally like tohappen.Picture 1: The page in just a normal state, nothing happening.Picture 2: On rollover, I would like the character to pop out and enlarge.I know how to make it enlarge on rollover, but I don't understand how you would make it come to the front above other layers. with understanding how to do.
Picture 3: I want a description like this to pop up when you click on the character. I have a layer at 50% opacity to fade the background out as well. I need to know how to:1. Make this image show up when you click on the respective character.2. Make this image disappear when you click on the red X button at the top right

For my newspaper i am creating each page has a next button and a previous button. I have assigned the previous button on one page to attach the movie of the page previous to it and then tested my movie. However when i click the previous button the movieclip does load but loads behind the starting moveiclip. So what i want to do is when the previous button is cliked, that page (movieclip) with the previous button on its dissappears and the previous page loads.

I'm working with a site and I have a problem with one of the swf. The site is a group of some swf's (the root swf, where I call the menu, section1, section2, etc.). There is another swf, a banner. In this swf, I have a butterfly following the cursor. The problem is that it follows through the entire site and not just the banner limits.
my name is carrumbus I am a long time reader and first time poster and i have a problem I apologize in advance if this question to too simple and ridiculous for your brilliant minds It's very basic action script, but i cant figure out why it's not working
Basically, i have an empty stage, but for 2 objects a custom cursor (using the onclipevent mouse move, cursor hide, startdrag etc) and a movie clip of a little man (stick figure for now) all i want to do is, when i bring the cursor to the man and hold down on him, the cursor will goto frame 2, which will make it appear that the man i sitting on the cursor. at the same time the man symbol will be invisible and draggable. so that when i release the drag, the man will be put down somewhere else.
I'm trying to make a game that looks low-resolution, and thus I'm upscaling everything by 2x. However, the game is to have a custom cursor, and it ruins the illusion if the cursor follows your mouse every pixel. I want the cursor to follow your mouse, but to snap to every two pixels so as to not ruin the illusion of low resolution.
I want the cursor to disappear when it rolls over an object, then reappear when it rolls off. It works when I run it in Flash, it works when I view the html in Internet Explorer, it DOESN'T work in Netscape. The cursor disappears and doesn't come back till you move it out of the navigator window. Here's the code:
on (rollOver) { loadMovie("movie.swf", place); mouse.hide(); } on (rollOut) { loadMovie("blank_movie.swf", place); mouse.show(); }
