how to make the individual icons open separate menu once clicked in the way the iPhone does i know i would have to use an eventListener and basic tweening to make the new screens appear in the iphone like way but i just don't know how i would use this:

Im guessing this is linked to actionscript,Ive made 2 buttons, One named Home, And another Exit,When home is clicked i want it to open a certain scene in this case called S Home,And when exit is clicked i want it to open the scene S Exit,How to do this?I will explain my problem more if needed,You could maybe call this linking a button,Only it opens a new scene rather than .html or an website

My teacher in Adobe Flash CS3 is so slow with the teaching (and some doesn't understand what the .alpha = 0; does in my class so he has to teach them and they just keep us at thesame level). We has just taught my class "trace". Anyways, my problem is this: I've made a XML file which gets loaded into Flash and it gets my animation and adds the labels to the buttons, so far so good, but I am trying to make these buttons do stuff when clicked, like (website menu) if you press "contact" it will show "contact" and if you press "home" it will go to "home" etc.
As I said I'm a bit of a noob to AS3 (started to go through it in class 2weeks ago, but as I said he teachs very slow we are better off on ourselves) so I'm not that sure off how to do this. before starting to talk what I've tried I'll give out the code (it's done after one tutorial with some modifications). I would not have asked the question if I owned an iphone, but so far I only have an android phone for development.
The question is: Should I use the View.viewMenuItems that are provided by flex mobile? Or should I better embed the functionality in another way? I don't know what possibilities might exist on iphone to open the menu, because it has no hardware button "menu".
By the way: How could I open the menu in the Flash-Builder mobile device emulator - there are no buttons, too..

I have a flash site that I am building, but the transitions out-of and in-to each section is unique to that section. For example, going from 'home' to 'about' calls two different transition, which would be dependant on which section you are in and where you are going. How do I set it up so that it knows what section you are currently 'in', thereby calling that movieclip, then calls the second movieclip depending on which new menu section you selected. My guess is that it has something to do with setting variables and maybe listener events .. but I'm not an AS pro!

I am a bit new at this, but I am creating a flash site in which I want to have it adjusted to the individual browser size. I already have placed an expanding background so that it will fit proportionaly to any site. Now I would like to have a menu which loads from top to bottom (from the very top, crossing to the bottom) but with a style of a fade effect.. not just a bar moving down.. but rather that it is being built while it comes down. For example the right side comes down but a bit after the left side and then the fill color.. and afterwards the text on it. And then have it so that when one clicks on one of the links.. the entire menu moves to the right border of the page so as to make space for the content. I am not sure if I expressed myself well. I am not looking for a complete lesson on how to do this.. but more or less what it would take in order for me to go step by step doing the reaserch and building it.

I have created a small image gallery for use in a CBT Program.What I am looking to do is, each image in the slide when clicked needs to go to a separate html page.I currently have it working as far as being able to execute a single External Call to go to a HTML Page, but it is working for the entire gallery not individual pictures.I am thinking of separating the way the MC are loading into the container, then tying External Calls Specific to the individual clips.

Ok the fourth page of the website is a portfolio page with 16 thumbnails (4 across 4 down) which opens a larger pic on the same page to the right.
I can't figure out what to change. The first and third thumb down seem to be linked and open the same image. Same with two and two down from that and so on. I want to separate them so each open their own image. If I edit it in PS both thumbs change...
I click several times and well thumb one and the third one down is:

im trying to make icons for wlm (windows live messenger) in flash with 2 frames and the quality come out crummy when im saving the animated gif this is the original icon which is good quality:[URL]..
and this is what came out to me when i tried to make the animated gif while i did it strict saved it first as bmp so it will not lose quality[URL].. and finally saved it as animated gif and picked 256 colors which is max for gif how is that come? i asked someone and he told me that in flash the animation comes out very ugly and i should use software called "GIF Construction Set Pro" or something like this is that right? there is no other way to increase the quality or something in flash?

I've gotten as far as getting a listbox with a list of articles to display the articles in a dynamic text box, only i can only get it to work if i use one huge external text file that contains all the articles. what i want is to have each item on the list open up its own external text file, i.e. for each item on the list, there exists a separate text file. I'm about ready to put my fist through the monitor, and that would suck because this is a really nice monitor

I have a 5 menu system in my Flash file, and to keep size down each element of the menu is a separate Flash file. So basically if "About" is pressed the about file loads onto the stage... The problem I am having is, when a menu item is pressed, let's say "About", I want whatever file has been loaded previously, I want it to fade out and then load the selected file... How could I do this? Once the menu is pressed I could easily make an as to fade the current movie out, but how would the file know what to load as the next item?

I have an movie for site for a customer. Within the movie are thumbnails of images. We need to get these thumbnails to open in a light box when clicked. The customers site already uses lightbox (jquery) extensively and they have sent us all the files. To make the image open in a light box you just make it a link and give it a class.
This makes me think that I will need to import some css into flash to give the links the necessary styling. However, I suspect that there is rather a lot more going on with the jquery files than that! What I would need to do in order to make this work? Would I be better of just using flash to re-create the effect. In order to set the lb up for html you just do this in the header:

on the attached fla I have an "invisible" button (button with 0 alpha). I copied a script from the tutes section that will allow me to open a new window when the button is clicked (another rip from a forum question). This works OK, but I also have a MC below the button layer and this MC has some AS attached to it which basically makes it fade out to the image on the bottom layer.
It seems to me that the button script makes the MC script stop working because it's above the MC layer (I've switched the button layer below the MC layer and the fade out then works, but the button doesn't ). How can I get both scripts working together? I know that MC's can't work like buttons, but is there a work around this?
