am trying to make a game whre i want the sprite to move from positive x-axis to negetive x-axis for 30 seconds and after dat it has to down along y-axis one step.

I wanted a sprite to move round on the screen when a play button was pushed. I have a left and a right button which store strings "left" or "right" into the next positions of an empty array called history.
When i push the play button i want i want the sprite to move either left or right according to what commands are in the array. My code just seems to play one single command and then stops when i hit play again it just repeats the same command.
Is there any way to make it play through all commands in the array one after another?

I have a moving vehicle on the stage, which should change directions according to where I click on the stage.I already made it work using this formula:var angle:Number = Math.atan2(dy,dx)*180/Math.PI+90;However, I need the car to tween to the correct angle, instead of just "jumping" to it. While this is easy enough to do, the car sometimes takes the longer turn (especially when I click in the bottom-left quarter of the stage), and it seems unnatural.

If you assign any sprite a z property of 0, the sprite gets scaled a little bit (too big) and the sprite gets a little blurry.

i'm trying to use actionscript so i can make an object move up and down the Y axis by inputing numbers into a textbox. However at the moment my object starts in the centre and then when i enter a number it only goes down, and im not too sure how i can use negative numbers to make it travel up the y axis. I was thinking of using the numbers -10 - 10 so -10 would go down and 10 go up. Here is my code

i assume that there will be something to do with "_x = _x+_xmouse" but how do i define the boundries and what about the wheel movement? Or maybe it would be better to do this as a MC and if x of the mouse is less than x of MC then prevFrame, if its more then nextFrame ? Have no idea how to put it all together

how to move the x axis of a movieclip.
I am almost finished with a site and I have five main buttons at the top- Home - About - Services - Portfolio - Contact. Then I have placed a movieclip in the center of the stage with an image inside that has a width of 3740. This leaves 747 for each section. I need it to move over 747 for each section plus or minus and I know that from Home to Contact it will have to move 2992 but I think I can figure all that out as soon as I just figure out how to get it to move and set a speed.

If I use mySprite.x += 1; //it's choppy
if I use mySprite.x += .1; //it's smoother but slow
if I use mySprite.x += .5; //it's only slightly choppy but speed is better
Is there a way to guarantee perfect movement(the sprite moves subpixels), yet still have an adjustable speed?

I want to the user to be able to draw a line and then have a sprite follow the line as its path. Also, it would be nice if the line could be cleaned up after the user draws it with his/her mouse so that it is made up of clean curves/spline.

affect the position of a sprite using perlin noise? Looking at this flag example:

If you imagined a sprite with say just a circle drawn in it positioned on the top right corner of the flag, is there a way to calculate the change in position to keep it in-sync with the flag corner as that animates? What I'm after is the fluid motion but not the distortion.

I want a sprite to be added to the stage, then move along the stage, I guess using the ENTER_FRAME listener. Then when it reaches a certain point, for example ball.x = 200; it is to stay there. Also when it reaches that point, another iteration of the ball sprite is added to the stage at another point on the stage, and then do the same thing as the previous on (like move across the screen until it reaches the stop point (like the one before).This adding of Sprites and then moving, checking if it reaches a point, if so, stop this sprite from moving, then add another sprite in the initial position, would be on a loop until a condition is met, i.e counter = 100;I can't seem to get it down on code, (cue people going "man this is easy"!!) I created bubbles using the snow 3.0 tutorial from here at kirupa. I slightly altered the code so it would be for bubbles on a canvas of 800x500.The problem with the tutorial is that it is for snow moving downward on the y axis. for bubbles in the water, I need them going upward.which part of the code I need to alter so the bubbles will move up and not down? Also, I need the life of the bubble to last the length of the canvas.

I've put together this simple code for an SWF with three roll over images (called: Training, Resources and Contact).When I roll over Training I would like the symbol Training_txt to tween its alpha to 1 (from 0) and tween its y axis to 220 (from 83).When I roll out of Training I would like to run the two tweens in reverse.
This works fine for each of the three roll over images, so long as each tween is allowed to fully execute before a new tween is started. The problem arises if i quickly move the mouse curser between the three roll over images before the previous tweens have finished executing.In this instance, the tweened objects start to behave erratically. They usually return to their original position as per the roll_out tween but then start jumping between y axis 200 and y axis 83 (without tweening - they just appear).

i have a BasicMap.as that takes an Array and populates itself with the MC objects passed to it by a String reference.it inherits from Sprite, and so it just places the objects on its self.then i have a class that inherits from that class, and gives a little more functionality to it, but in order for it to do that, it needs to place the objects not on itself, but instead inside a holder Sprite, so here is my problem:

I have been googling my butt off I can not find anything about AS3 and shooting in different directions.

Ok, so I got this huge image of a map. I put a Mask over it so it will fit on a small screen. But....I want users to be able to view the whole map but click on arrow buttons that will transfer them in all 4 directions. I know I can do this with keyframes, showing different parts of them map each stage....But isn't there a simplier way? Some sort of actionscript code that will tell flash to scroll how many pixels left or right or up or down? And that it will know that the image will stop here so don't scroll more than that?

I've a got bar (songBar) on which it will appear the artist and the song name (artist_txt). What I want is when the title_txt width is larger than the songBar.width, the text to scroll from right to left, and when the tween is finished to scroll from left to right (all this tween has to be a loop). If the width of artist_txt is smaller or equal to the songBar.width then artist_txt is aligned in the center of the songBar. All I'm trying to code it's just what you see in winamp player.

I created a map with the Google Map API For Flash that shows directions. It creates a line between the 2 addresses and gives turnbyturn directions.
This is working perfectly in Flash test mode locally but once i put it online The map still works but the directions dont show and i get the Failure status 400.
Does anywone know whats the problem here? I'ts driving me crazy just because its working locally but not online.

What I have is a circle image (for this purpose lets say it looks like a clock). For example: when you click 3 o'clock, the whole clock needs to rotate around with the 3 o'clock btn at the 6 o'clock position (with the pivot point in the centre). each of the 'time' positions (2 o'clock, 3 o'clock, 4 o'clock ...etc) needs to be a button and thus be able to rotate around to the 6 o'clock position. This would seem simple enough by just using a .rotate value or using tween movieclips...however the tricky part is:
The actionscript needs to determine which way the clock turns (anti/clockwise), dependant on where the clicked time-btn's position is. it needs to be some sort of if statement that says: If (3'oclock-btn) is positioned between 0 degrees (being original 12'oclock position) and 180 degrees (original 6 o'clock position), then rotate clockwise to the 6 o'clock position. If the (3o'clock btn) is positioned between 180degrees and 259 degrees (12 o'clock position), rotate anti-clockwise to the 6'oclock position.
