View 3 RepliesI've got a strange bug when trying to use facebook connect with actionscript3. I checked everything, couldn't find a way to resolve this. Look at this [URL] When clicking on "login", the facebook popup appears. But within this swf (click on the "facebook" logo), [URL] It does not work. This is almost the same actionscript code; and it IS the same HTML. You can check some debug informations with the firebug console. Seems the javascript & HTML code is OK. When clicking the Facebook logo, the HTML is updated. Guess facebook IS contacted; but then no popup is shown.
View 1 RepliesI need to know if a popup (which is a singleton titlewindow, hence would be initialized only once) is already shown in the screen or not, if not then i will call a function to show it up, otherwise do something else.I tried findPopup.focusEnabled //findPopup is the titlewindow class for popup But it is always true irrespective of whether the popup is shown in the screen currently or not.

By default the whole background of the application remains blur, but I want the second VBox to be visible. Is this possible? If yes how can i accomplish this?
View 2 Repliesi'm working on a project where i would like to build a menu of 3 buttons in the bottom of my screen, when 1 of these buttons is clicked a little popup MC pops up with a X sign to close it. WHen the popup is active the background (the buttons) fade to a 30% alpha and a re not clickable anymore. When i close the popup MC with the X sign then the buttons are active again. I seen a tutorial how to do this but i lost it.
View 2 Repliesif I make a popup menu with submenus, and I make multiple menus horizontally next to one another...I know I can use invisible buttons to close the menu on rollOut, however, I've been advised using the "with" function would avoid confusion in the case where menus are close together. I'm a bit confused about doing it this way.
for one thing, assume the menus going horizontally are named menu1, menu2, menu3, etc. the with action.. is this upon rollOver of menu 2 for example..then in that movieclip or menu instance, I'm asking menu1 to move to a closed state? or is the action using with within menu1?
If you create a popup via:[code]It will create a popup and bring it on top of any other visual piece. I have one problem though. This 'popup' needs to stay up even when the user interacts with the background.I would use modal, but I need the ability to interact with the back. Any way to tell the popup manager not to remove the popup when the user clicks off of it?
View 1 RepliesI've been asked to modify this flash piece (CS3, AS2) and add clickable links to the pop up menu. For the life of me I can't get it to work, and my head hurts from searching the web top to bottom for an answer. I would attach the fla but its too large, but basically you scroll over a button, in this case a dot, and it triggers a pop up box beside it with a list of items. These are generated by frame identifiers, and when you roll over the box it goes away. I need it to stay there and make that list of items clickable ones.

In other words, when I click on buttons, text fields, etc. I'd like for them to respond as usual and for the container not be draggable.I've tried this very simple implementation

View 7 RepliesI got this movieclip. With actionscript I attached a new movieclip to this one, as a popup menu, which will show on rollover. Inside this movieclip, it automatically makes textfields, as menu options (information I receive from a XML document). The problem is, that I cannot get it to respond on a onRelease function on those text fields, and I do not know why.

I tried to make a onRelease on one of the links, but it just wont work probably.
I've created a popup navigation menu at: [URL] In firefox and internet explorer everything works fine - the menu pops over the flash. But in Chrome, Safari and Opera the menu is behind the flash.
View 1 RepliesI have a sliding menu at the bottom of my screen. When you mouse over the menu it pops up and as it does it triggers an animation of a moving object. The moving object starts "off screen", comes sliding in and comes to a rest in the middle of the menu. The object has buttons on it. What I'd like to do is when a user clicks the button it loads content onto the main stage. Then either after clicking the button or mousing off the menu the object animation will continue on it's merry way out of view (off the menu).
Everything works great except I can't get the button to work! I'm thinking it's a path issue since I've done lots of buttons. So the button is now here:

And I've got the AS on the button:

Is the button so buried that it's clicking options aren't available?
I have a big problem with my flash menu and the hittest function.I want to show a 'popup' window on menu item rollover (and i did it!).But I have a rollover problem passing through other items because of hittest areas are colliding.I attach a .fla file for example...Try to pass from 'voice1' to 'voice 2'...voice 1 windows remain shown.

A MouseOut will tween the menu away and remove the menu with removeChild. Heres the bug: If I mouse out and then quickly mouse over the same object while the menu is tweening away before it has been removed, it doesn't add the menu again, and then on the next mouse out, it tries to remove the child menu, which isn't currently a child because it was just removed, and

Normally I'd not post my questions in this forum but this is a exeption .Anyway how can i prevent the menu from showing up when right clicking the mouse button in flash runtime?EDIT: I learned that it's not possible to completely hide it in as3, but it's possible in as2 though, or when using html. You however can hide everythng in that list except for "settings" and "show redraw regions"

View 3 RepliesI'm a begginer flash game developer-ish individual working on my first project - An economic game with RPG elements, I'm mixing AS 3.0 with Flash CS5 (for the graphics, buttons, tweens and the simple stuff in general since it's easier for me atm than scripting it). The trouble started when I had to script in variables. I've sorted out a couple of issues but a few still remain:
1. I need to limit three of my main skills to 0-100. Only managed to stumble across tutorials for AS2,
2. Each character will have 3 main skills, and then the 18 secondary skills will be calculated from those 3 values. This works fine, when I modify existing variables directly in the code. The thing is that I created those buttons that add or subtract from a certain skill value, but when I press them the var changes but all of the 18 skills remain unchanged (as if they do not refresh themselves - i was thinking about an eventListener waiting for a change in skill value but if I would have to do one for every one of the 18 skills in conjunction with the 6 buttons to change levels - so 144 functions - im thinking maybe an array...but I'm such an actionscript newb that I can hardly translate the tutorials into my ideas.
3. Also wondering how to create a pool of unused skill points so when I add points I can't max it out right off the bat but rather take it from that value instead and once it's 0 you can't add points anymore.
4. Last but not least, I'm having trouble creating global values. My main menu is in scene1 and when I press Newgame it goes to scene2, the problem starts when i go back to main menu errors keep showing up (since scene 1 has no information about statistics but a function probably keeps asking )which means that the program can't get access to an attribute or a method of reference for the null object at MainMenu_fla (don't be fooled by the file name, I have everything in 1 fla file)Of course an error pops up for every skill, main or secondary.
i m using this code for my progress bar but it does not appear on "simulate download" too, it appears for a moment when it reaches nearby 100% & goto next frame All my script is written on keyframe & no document class.How can i get rid of such an unusual behaviour?

preloader is not showing up until everything is loaded...using AS3 in CS4. the strange thing is that the code is copied verbatim from a working preloader I used in CS3... also AS3... why its not working here... there can't be differences between CS3 and CS4 that are affecting it...?I've tried various things, even hiding all of the content on the first frame with the preloader...

I'm using QueueLoader to load my main SWF into my preloader SWF. The problem is, that the preloader gets to 100% and then nothing happens. No errors, no nothing. When I test it locally from flash it works fine, when I test it locally on WAMP server it breaks, and when I test it remotely it breaks as well. I use ExternalInterface to log to the console, but none of these get trigger in my main SWF because it is like nothing is loading at all. I even have a console.log trace on the very first line of my root as file so it should DEFINITELY execute.
One of the strangest parts of this "unreported error" is that it just showed up today. I've been working on this project for prob 4 weeks with nothing like this happening at all, and one day I just stop getting any error for why my project won't show. I've removed (as far as a I know) all the TLF text fields from my FLA. I've even saved as CS4 doc, then saved back to CS5 to make sure they were removed. Embedding fonts, however, is another animal altogether. I've switched RLS to "merge with code" and embedded the _sans font I'm using on all my text fields.
I have a swf file which is hardly 200 KBs. I have placed a preloader bar as well as have the script - ifFrameLoaded().Problem is the preloader is not showing till the loaded value is around 90%.Since this file has a bit of actionscript involved (for interactive features) I doubt if that could be a hinderance.
View 6 RepliesMy Flash file works fine on local file, but when loaded to hosting site, nothing shows. Zilch. Not had this problem before, but I've not tried with this hosting service before, which is GoDaddy. Could that be the problem? Or is there something wrong with my coding? Here's the URL: [URL] The Flash is 1020 px wide, 350 px high, and its supposed to be right under the spry menu (which isn't working either for some reason! No drop and wrong color for rollover!).
View 2 RepliesI am using actionscript 3.0. My externally loaded swf are not showing after I published HTML or if I try to view my final swf by clicking on it in my project folder. I am not sure what to do because everything is working fine when I have my .fla open and press ctrl enter to view my work.

Nothing on the screen, nothing in the console. I do, however, see adl.exe hanging in the processes and eating up memory - i assumed its the loaded, but invisible application.
Update:Created a blank Flex 4.5 (Air 3.1) project that changes the background - and it worked out fine. Tried to use this config (tweaked the filename) - and it doesn't work. Seems the problem only applies to mobile projects.
On some sites i have seen usually portfolio or gallery type sites there are thumbnails, text or some shape that you click on to view a particular image. What I'm getting at is some of the sties show visually that the clip has been loaded with change of alpha (images that are not loaded greyed out and ones that have already been loaded are in colour etc..). An example of what i'm talking about is on [URL] When you click on the menu (selection uno), it loads a particular clip, and throughout the session on the site, u can tell which ones have been loaded and have not. I know there are probably many down and dirty ways of achieving this, but i know there is usually 1 or 2 'proper' methods for doing a particular thing.
