ActionScript 3.0 :: Programmatically Make A Call For An Image Contained In The Library?

Apr 29, 2011

I'm working with a UILoader, and I will have it display images; but the images have to be in the library to cut down on overall content size. So I have to somehow refer to images in the library by code. How can I do that? Would the following code work?

var photoURLReq:URLRequest = new URLRequest(photo1:Photo1InLibrary);loader_mc.load(photoURLReq);

or

var photo1:Photo1InLibrary = new Photo1InLibrary();loader_mc.load(photo1);

Actionscript :: Programmatically Change The Source Of An Image Whose Name Is Ambiguous?

Sep 20, 2009

How do you say or achieve container.child.source = image.png?

I have a hexagon map built by specifying width and height. I draw a wireframe and place a base image for each hex into a canvas. Next, the canvas listens for a mouse click. I then run a calculation to determine which hex the mouse click was closest to. My intent is to change the source of the image that the user clicked on.

I know that mapSlate.getChildByName(mapProperties[closestHex]['baseName']) is the intended hex but I can't quite get to the point of doing a .source as Flex doesn't know that the selected object is an image.

Programmatically Set Flash To Make Sure It Is The Most Updated Copy Of The Swf?

Feb 28, 2009

Is there a way to programmatically set flash to make sure it is the most updated copy of the swf? Let me see if can be clearer as I really don't know how to ask. Say I am building a movie and I just changed it, I open my browser and see the old version. I have to clear my cache to get the updated version. Is there a way of making flash "clear its cache" so to speak? I tried googling "SWF updated ActionScript" or variations of that, but calamity ensued.

Flex :: Embedding MovieClip Symbol To Image Control Programmatically

Oct 29, 2009

I've reviewed all the documentation and Google results surrounding this and I think I have everything setup correctly. My problem is that the symbol is not appearing in my app. I have a MovieClip symbol that I've embedded to my Flex Component. I need to create a new Image control for each item from my dataProvider and assign this embedded symbol as the Image's source. I thought it was simple but apparently not.

Here's a stub of the code:
[Embed(source="../assets/assetLib.swf", symbol="StarMC")]
private var StarClass:Class;
protected function rebuildChildren():void {
iterator.seek( CursorBookmark.FIRST );
while ( !iterator.afterLast ) {
child = new Image();
var asset:MovieClipAsset = new StarClass() as MovieClipAsset;
(child as Image).source = asset;
}}

I know the child is being created because I can draw a shape and and that appears.

Also, the application for image manipulation will be developed in the Flash/ Action Script. Please share some links as to how we can save the image manipulations for an image (not the image) so that it can be merged with an image later on.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Pull Image From Library?

Jan 23, 2009

I'm using Flash CS4 as my IDE with Actionscript 3 and Flash Player 10. I'm working on a bigger project but the area I'm struggling in is dynamically pulling an image from the flash library (already loaded). I've been finding the same answers to my question all over and they seem to keep producing the same error so apparently I'm just not getting some little detail. I have an image loaded in the library called test1.jpg. I've right clicked on it and selected 'Export for ActionScript' and 'Export in frame 1'. The class is 'MyMc' and the Base class is 'flash.display.BitmapData'. My code is attached.

and it produces the following errors:

quote:

1136: Incorrect number of arguments. Expected 2. 1067: Implicit coercion of a value of type MyMc to an unrelated type flash.display:DisplayObject.

Professional :: Library Image Swapping Bug?

Sep 28, 2010

I upgraded recently to Adobe CS5 from MM Flash 8 so that I could recover some newer Flash components that were developed in a newer version.  This all seemed to go with out any issue.  However, once in CS5, I noticed twice that an images switched to another image in the library.  So I had two copies of the image and one image that went missing.  I solved this by just updating the image that was corrupted.

I was on a crunch for this project and was working 16hr days, so I just left my computer on over night with CS5 open.  I published the presentation and sent it for approval.  Once everything was approved closed CS5.

When I reopened it many, (around 30ish) of my images have been corrupted the same way.  I went back to my previous backups and the last 8hrs worth also have the corruption.

Is this something I can easily and permanently fix in this demo or as long as I use it will it keep on screwing up?Is this issue only with images or is my action script also likely to be corrupted?
