I have a main swf file that is loading multiple external SWF file when a menu button is clicked. Now I want to target a specific swf file to add an extra child from library or from another swf when that specific swf file is loaded. How should I do that? What should I put within the if statement?
var newswf:URLRequest= new URLRequest("./swfs/"+ event.target.name +".swf");
loader.load(newswf);
addChild(loader); //loading swfs dynamically

I have a movieclip on stage, but I want to move it or animate it with the use of an .as file, how do I refer to a movieclip on stage through a .as file?
Is this even possible or do I have to pass the actual movieclip as a parameter to a function of the class?
To make things more clear, here is my code:
Code on main timeline:
Code:
var myBox:Box = new Box();
myBox.x = 80;
myBox.y = 160;

i have some thumbnails and a holder on the stage(all are movie clips).clicking on each thumbnails will load an external swf in holder mc.I have made a class for thumbnails,but dont know how to refer "holder mc" from that class, to load those swfs?
View 4 RepliesIs it possible to refer to a variable in a class file separate from the one you are working in? Say Class1.as had a variable named "exampleVar", and in Class2.as you wanted to put something like "exampleVar++;". Is this possible and if so how would it be achieved?
View 1 RepliesI'm trying to embed a font in my project by using url("font.ttf") rather than local("Font Name"), but it doesn't seem to pick it up. The font in question is called "Gotham Bold". When i view the details of the font, the font weight is regular, however when i use local("Gotham Bold") in the css i have to specify fontWeight: bold or else it wont pick it up. But when I use url("folderGotham-Bold.ttf"), and specify fontWeight: bold, it says that font weight is not found for that TTF. If i remove the fontweight, there's no errors, but the font is not applied to the text.

View 1 RepliesDoes anyone knows if it's possible to write some bytes received from an AIR or Flex client in a server side file using the File class ? I have been trying for hours without any result.My goal is to store on the server side a swf file sended by a client in a ByateArray.Here is the code I have ended with, assuming that myfile.swf alreadey exists on the server prior to the code execution, and is at the right place, and that pBytes is a ByteArray received from the client which contains a swf file :
function writeFile( pBytes )
{
var myFile = new File( "myFile.swf" );

I'm doing a test install before we update our old server to 4.03.I've got the server software installed and configured (4.03 server, using iis for web).All the test stuff on the sample index page works, except for the dynamic stream tab.I've eyeballed the .f4m file, and tried putting in a complete url to the samples...but no luck.i just keep getting the stock connection timed out message.
Where do i need to look to start confiriming where this issue may be coming from?I've made made sure I can reach all the test videos by making flash players for them, calling them via rtmp... no problems.It's got to be something dumb with either the f4m file, or the way it's being served (btw, i have added all the mime types to iis , including .f4m as video/mp4....which is one of two ways I've seen it added).
i have used the following code to upload file which works in php4 server but dont work inphp 5 server.The flash code is as follows:
import flash.net.FileReference;
import gs.TransformManager;
//Allow this domain[code]....
i am uploading the php file.
Im picking up a dedicated server it will be CentOS and be well above the minimum req for FMS 3.5 Interactive.
Question: I want to use my dedicated server for more then just the FMS. Is this possible? Basically I want to use the same server for FMS and for the file hosting of my site. Obviously I would give it a different IP but am not sure what I will need to do specifically
I have a application developed in flex deployed on server. In the application data is filled by user and saved in cookies so as to be available even when the user closes the application. However if new version of application is released the user can still access the older version saved in the cahe. How can it be assured that whenever a new version of application is released the application is loaded from the server and not from the cache and at the same time data saved in the older version (in cookies) can also be accessed in the new version.
View 2 RepliesGot a really big problem here. I keep on getting "NetConnection.Connect.Failed" when I load a .asc file on my main.asc file, i use the method load() in my code. I really don't understand why this happens, but when i comment out the code that loads the asc file, I can successfully connect to fms. I can't figure out what's happening here. Btw, i'm using fms4 in windows 7 32bit.
View 6 RepliesI've looked through the scripts in the scripts/ directory, but haven't seen anything obvious.
I would like to be able to specify the file name to capture the stream to. At present, the capture file is always named the same as the stream, which means if I stream for a bit, stop, then restart, the originally captured file gets overwritten. I'd like to be able to incorporate something, i.e. the stream start time, into the capture file name.
I do understand the differance between ssas and as3. Not all, but all most everything I see written in SSAS can be writen into a external AS3 file. This leads me to quite a few questions I'm hoping you kind people can shed some light on for me.
1) What is the advantage of writing a SSAS file over an external AS3 file?
2) Can I write an .asc file in AS3 or do I have to use AS1? Please understand I'm using tuts from fmsguru.com and the books "Learning Flash Media Server" (pdf) and "Programming Flash Communication Server". I'm not a javascript programmer so nothing I do in AS1 seems to make any sence while everything I do in AS3 does. It may not seem like it to you people that are programmers, but to those of us that aren't, AS1 and AS3 are miles apart.
3) kind of off topic, but a security question. I'm not a "hacker" and don't like the jerks that are. My question is on external AS / SSAS files and swf files. When my fla is compiled into a swf does my external AS files remain external? I assume they do, but then what is the threat of the swf being decompiled? In most projects I would do I could care less if somebody had access to my fla as long as they don't have my actionscript files.
I don't know. Maybe on questions one and two I'm getting confused becasue I'm using out dated material. Again I assume that even though fms was built off of the javascript engine it should be able to read and execute my AS3 file. Other wise what was the point of the evolution of actionscript into a fully functional programming language?
How to let my local running swf-file access a xml-file that is on a server?
I have been to the "Global Security Settings panel" but dont really understand.
I am trying to upload a file on server using File class. Its working fine on local machine. But when i a placing the php file on server, it is giving Error #2038: File I/O Error.

View 2 RepliesHow do i refer to an array name inside an array?[code]...

Is it possible to have one xml doc for more than one swf, so that i would only need to edit one xml doc as opposed to 12?

I have a flash movie that displays a list of movies. It uses an xml file to get this list.The xml file changes frequently.I'd like to know if there's a way with JavaScipt, to compare the xml file in the cache and the one in the server, if they are different, the script alerts the user and then refreshes the page.
View 1 RepliesI have balls (...sounded pervert) that are created by duplicateMovieClip, yes, they spawn, but right on top of each other, and I don't seem to be able to do anything to them, I tried ball+i.onEnterFrame = function(){} typed in several different ways ("ball"+i, ["ball"+i] etcetc...) And I just couldn't find How to refer to them. i'm trying to spawn them to random positions and make them move in random directions (got the moving part already coded but like I said I can't name them -> can't use it atm.)
Short version: How to refer to balls that are created by duplicateMovieClip?
I have a container movie which loads another movie into a Loader object which then gets added to the main timeline. The loaded movie has a main class which controls all the other classes in that movie. The container movie has one other element - a scrollbar which scrolls the loaded movie (which is longer than the container) up and down.
When content changes in the loaded movie I need to pass a message to the scrollbar. If I trace parent.parent.parent from the init() function of the loaded movie it traces [object MainTimeline]. My scrollbar, sBar is a direct child of the main timeline, but tracing parent.parent.parent.sBar doesn't work So how can I pass a reference to the scrollbar to the loaded movie? Here's the code in the container movie:
PHP Code:
var ldr:Loader = new Loader();
var sBar:Scrollbar;
ldr.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.INIT, initHandler);

I have an array that movieclips are added into depending on the users actions. When they are added to the the array, they are also added to the display list of another movieclip on the stage.I'm trying to refer to them later so I can remove them from this movieclip's display list, but I can't work out the wording.[code]

I am using the load movie from my main file (main.swf) as:
mc_zoom.loadMovie("detail.swf");
I then have a loader as a movieclip with the detail.swf
when the movie (detail.swf) is loaded the preloader I am trying to make/set the play to go:
_root.gotoAndStop(2);
But this does not work - it works locally but when used with the main file (main.swf)
