View 9 RepliesIf one uses [Embed] to refer to external graphic assets its easy to instantiate and use them.However, I've got a png in an Fla, with the Class identifier set to "Symbols", Base class is BitmapData.I need to instantiate it like this:
var symbols:BitmapData = new Symbols(1, 1);
addChild(new Bitmap(symbols));
Of course the compiler complains about a call to a possibly undefined method Symbols.For a temporary fix I guess i'll put the graphic external to the swf, but for this project it needs to be in the library along with everything else.
my document class creates custom class variables to load both a slide show and menu .swf instance to the stage.a few questions:my document class extends Sprite, so any addChild() will put that object on the display list?if so, how do I allow script inside the menu instance to refer to other display objects?The following code is within my document class, inside my doc class function:

The problem is that text is being wrapped around an image. How can I get the text to be displayed under the inserted image?

But as soon as I switch embedFonts to true, nothing happens anymore.The font is embedded in an dynamic TextField on the library (so I can embed parts of the font and doen't have to import the whole font), it's definitively there, I can find it width enumerateFonts and use it with TextFormat. But if you click here, you see the un-embedded TextFields most likely in an alternative Font (wich both are shown correctly on my system), the correct embedded-font TextField with TextFormat but nothing on StyleSheet with embedded font.[code]

View 1 RepliesI have created a component that I want to add to all of my panels that allows It works reasonably well.The last (hopefully) issue that I have is that I want to embed the image in the class. Doing this causes the click event not to fire.If I us"this.source='assets/info.png'" everything works OK. If however, I embed the image as shown below, the image displays, but is not clickable.

i want to rotate 3D an Image called img1 in Flex. I want to rotate it around y axis 180 degree. I can do this by using 3D effect already built in Flex but i want to do a bit more different. I want during rotating, there's another image called img2 appear on back of img1 (in default case, the image appear on the back is img1) and when rotating finish, the image will be img2.

The first shows the flash stage at its default size - as you can see my font is all distorted and weird looking but when you zoom in (image 2) it's exactly like it should be. What would make it look like this when the stage hasn't been zoomed out or anything, it's just from pressing cmd and enter from flash?I embedded it by putting it into the fla's library.

I cannot load more than one of those in my app. As soon as I load one youtube vid like that, any others will fail to load UNLESS it was the same video as the first one loaded, in which case there seems to be a 50% chance that it will load. And even when the second one (the same as the first) does load, there are issues with the player loaded.... it seems they are connected somehow and get confused with each other. The trackbar will flicker between the play time of the first one and the play time of the second one.
Next problem... I cannot unload the video right away. Say my user wants to close the video out, when I use:

the player does NOT close its streams and you can hear the audio still playing (assuming it was closed before it was finished playing)...
In my eyes, this is horribly bad programming on YouTube's part. They claim that you are allowed to embed their videos in AS3.0, but if that's true then why does it have such a horrible time as a child SWF? Proper children SWF files should be listening for an "unload" call and close out anything they need to when unloaded.
Here is what I've tried so far:
- Seperating the videos by loading them into other children SWF files (children that I created that I've told to load a specific YouTube vid)
- loading at different times
- Allowing security access from YouTube
How can I load more than one YouTube video into my Flash App without causing problems between them? I'm at my wit's end.

View 8 RepliesI'm trying to get Flash to display a bulleted list using bold embedded fonts.
What I'm finding is that I can get bold fonts with bullets, but not embedded. Or embedded fonts with bullets that aren't bold, or bold embedded fonts without bullets.
This is incredibly frustrating (as well as annoying).
I'm embedding the fonts in the library and exporting them via actionscript. Here's my code...

The above code produces the regular font embedded bulleted list.
If I change the bulletTF.font line to bulletTF.font = myFontBold.fontName The font goes bold and the bullets go away.
I am trying to replace some code which loaded an external image and triggered and function once completed with code that uses and embedded image. The relevant code looks like this.

The commented out section is where it used to take the loaded image and apply it to a texturemap.I need to replace the lines of code in the first function with something that calls the second function correctly.
I have tried using function imageLoadComplete (e:Event = null)and calling it with imageLoadComplete(); in the first function but although it compile and runs without error, the program does not work properly. I suspect this is to do with the dispatchEvent(); line which I do not understand.
I'm trying to simply add an instance of a movieclip from my library onto the stage using AS3 code. I've exported actionscripts for the movieclip in the first frame. Why does it want me to include a class name that is not being used by any other item in the library?
Also I call the library item like so:
this.addChild(box);
What steps am I missing? It keeps saying "1067: Implicit coercion of a value of type Class to an unrelated type flash.display:DisplayObject.

I am using CS3. And this is all about understanding Identifier and Class from the symbol property under Linkage.
I read some articles where all are using class instead of attachMovie() method on TimeLine.
Its confusing to me and couldn't able to make it work.
The article I read says that attachMovie() method will be in class file.

I eventually want a class that extends Sprite and contains multiple embedded images, which I load randomly on every instantiation of that class.
I am working on a small project by writing .AS files in a text editor and compiliing from the command line with MXMLC. I have completed most of my project, but am stuck figuring out how to embed images and get them into a Sprite.
