ActionScript 3.0 :: Shoot An Object And Create An Arc Based On An Angle
Sep 21, 2009
I found a basic example of how to create something that'll shoot an object and create an arc based on an angle. I added a power Bar to it, but I noticed something bad about it.
The way it works the higher the speed is the further it goes and the faster it moves across the screen. This doesn't give me enough control. Because essentially I want fast moving projectiles but I want to also be able to shoot both near and far.
With this current system that's an impossibility.. Can anyone shed some light on how I can do this better? Here's the current way it's being done (important parts):
So I've set myself a little project to build a bowman game. Everythings working smashing until the math at the point where the computer needs to figure out the power and angle to shoot the arrow back at you. What I've been working off is my knowledge from applied-math classes in school. I've been using the following formula where g is gravity, t is time (this would be in frames for flash), sx is the distance between the players, u is the initial force of the arrow and a is the angle we need to find. With a bit of moving around to seperate the angle, this becomes For my AS3 this translates to:
[Code]...
What happens is that it always fires the projectile at a very low angle that doesnt change to match the correct circumstances and I can't figure out how to get around this. Changing the force doesnt make any difference and the program will need to get around changing distances between the player so this math is pretty necessary (I think). Any math heads out there know what I should change?
I'm working on a new project, its a side scrolling game where an airplane (user) has to shoot down a bunch of other enemy planes. how to create an AS to shoot lasers from the nose of the plane
I have a TargetCirlce_mc which moves on "y" axis from top to bottom. And I have an arrow_mc which is on x:100 & y:200. How can I shoot an arrow exactly on the registration point of the TargetCircle_mc (automatically) while it is exactly opposite to the arrow_mc?
i've posted many times and got loads of responses but i dont understand how to make a bullet hole appear when you shoot an object. MSN me a [URL] to have a chat about doin the actionscript.
Basically there will be a club and a ball. You can control the power and angle to hit the ball. How do I go about implementing this? Is flash the easiest way to go? I want to implement this as a facebook game. Any game libraries specific to this I can use to quickly implement a basic version? I am comfortable with Java and PHP.
I'm creating a group of sliders that control the opacity of several MCs in the .fla file. Right now they move straight up or down, along the y axis. However, I would like to be able to customize the angle that each moves at (e.g., tilt slider01 45 degrees, slider 02 50 degrees, etc.).
I'm assuming that I would have to create a custom math class to do this, but I have no idea what logic to go off.
i am following a tutorial from a book, Learning Actionscript 3.0, A Beginners Guide, where it discusses how to move an object in an agle. I have managed to get the app working fine, but i'm tryin to test it out in different angles but everytime i change it seems to go into the same angle.[code]Can somebody tell me why for everytime i changed the value of the degrees, it does not updat the movement of the ball please
i'm trying to work out how to get a movieclip (of an arrow) to rotate then move in the direction it is pointing, controlled using the keyboard. Below is the code i have written so far, I can't get it to move in the correct direction. I also can't get it to keep moving after only one key press.
stage.addEventListener(KeyboardEvent.KEY_DOWN, keyPressDown);var stageW:uint=stage.stageWidth;var stageH:uint=stage.stageHeight; var speed:Number = 5; var angle:Number =45;
I have some texboxes which I need to stay a fixed distance away from another object at an angle.so I need to say textbox_mc position is 10 pixels away from my_Object at an angle of 35 degrees.The angle is changing and the object is moving, I think I can handle that if I know how to position by angle and distance.
I am trying to make a little game its just a project to help me get my head around the maths,I receive an angle and I want to use that angle to move the character away from the object are there any good tutorials for understanding this principle, or even what the term is for this?
how I can count the B point's coordinates (see attached image... or not as I am a new user...pf!). I know the arrow's rotation - so the angle (let's say it is -120), A's coordinates (0, 0) - A is the middle point of the arrow, and that the distance between A and B is 50 px.
Essentially I'm just trying to rotate an object (mc) clockwise or anticlockwise depending on the value of a variable called 'angle'.If 'angle' is positive it should go anticlockwise.If 'angle' is negative it should go clockwise.
Hi,I'm trying to use NetStreamPlayTransitions.SWITCH to create a multi angle view that switches between video streams. The issue I'm having is that NetStream.Play.TransitionComplete is called only after the buffer for the video before it is used up(this makes sense when using SWITCH to go between bandwidths but that's not what i'm using it for). Is there a way to force this switch before the buffer of the previous video is used up?
I've looked into SWAP but I can't really find any documentation on it. What I ideally would have happen is the next video in the array is triggered, that video is buffered and when there is enough to play it the stream switches to that one. SWITCH works really nice because there is no jump in switching when it's played but I just don't want the buffer to play out before the switch.Is there a way of maybe clearing the buffer of the playing video before i call SWITCH so it transitions quickly?
my first time trying to draw a multi-color gradient in actionscript 3. So I got this code from the help docs, but I can't seem to get a vertical gradient, whatever formula or number I use for rotate, it stays stuck on the default horizontal gradient :(
this is in my bullet movie clip on the timeline.[code]It all works but when i turn around it still shoots the same way im sure its something simple but i just cant work it out.
My goal is to shoot a bullet everytime I click on ship. What happens, in fact, is that If I click on it once, the bullet is shot, but if I click on it twice before the first bullet is off the screen, the first bullet literally stops(it does not disappear, only stops) and the second bullet is shot.
public var ship:Ship = new Ship(); public var bullet:Bullet = new Bullet(); stage.addChild(ship);[code]...
I'm doing a simple game where you move the character using the arrow keys and shoot using the Mouse. The character rotates based on the Mouse angle. I have two problems: when I move the character, he moves once, then stops then moves again as normal. My other problem is that when I click over a MovieClip, the bullet goes to the wrong angle.My moving function:
Code: stage.addEventListener(KeyboardEvent.KEY_DOWN, keyHandler); function keyHandler(event:KeyboardEvent):void {
I'm wanting to create a xml based video playlist like the one on the link below. I've searched Flashkit and the web and found a few things, but nothing really close in operation or that I could use.
