Flash Cs5 :: Change Frames In A Movieclip, Event Listeners Pointed To One Object In The Previous Frame Are Removed

Oct 20, 2010

I have a movieclip that contains two frames, each frame contains a different set of buttons.

it seems that i cannot add the event listeners to buttons that are not in my current viewed frame.

so.. problem one: is there a way to add event listeners to all the elements in the movieclip even if the elements are in a different frame.

problem two: after I added an event listener to some elements in current frame and then I move forward to the next frame and go back to the same frame, all the event listeners are removed and i need to initialize them again. is there a way to resolve the issue without the need to re-initialize the event listeners ?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Adding Event Listeners For Movieclip Inside Movieclip?

Nov 5, 2010

I have a movieClip button in my library that I dynamically add multiple instances of to the stage using code (so each instance has a unique name). The button has two frames, so it has a basic rollover effect (just changes color. To make the rollover work, I've had to dynamically add an event listener to each new instance of the movieclip, which triggers the rollover function.

I was wondering, instead of adding an event listener each time, can I somehow have an event listener within the movieclip to take care of the rollover?  Or will it not make any difference to the number of event listeners, as it will still add a listener with each new instance of the clip?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Event Listeners Only On MovieClip

Aug 3, 2010

I've an array of movieclips created via code that have some textfields. Then i have added some listeners to the movieclips.

Here the code:

Code:
arrNot[i].addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OVER, titoloOver);
private function titoloOver(e:MouseEvent){
var nome:String = e.target.name;
TweenMax.to(curs,1 ,{y:contMain.getChildByName(nome).y + 23});
}

This code moves a cursor calculating the y coordinate depending the moviclip that is mouse overed. Now the movieclips have some textfields so when i mouseover the movieclips all works ok but when i mouseover the textfield i receive a #1009 error.

I tried putting clearInterval in various places but it didn't seem to do anything.

ActionScript Code:
pseudo code:

ActionScript 3.0 :: Button Event Listener Get Removed?

Nov 8, 2010

I'll keep this simple (I hope). There's a button with an event listener on a frame of the main timeline. You click the button to go to the next frame and a movie clip plays. The instance of that button doesn't exist on that next frame. Does the event listener for the button automatically get removed when you go to that frame since the button doesn't exist there?

The movie clip is set up to send the main timeline back to the previous frame when it's finished and my event listener seems to vanish when I go back to that frame.

ActionScript 3.0 :: GotoAndStop() / Stop() Fail - Sending An Event From One Of The Frames Of A Movieclip

Dec 3, 2009

I've recently had a problem in my application's flow. I was sending an event from one of the frames of a movieclip and the issue was that it was being sent over and over and over when I wanted it to be sent only once. I assumed that placing a call to stop(); at the last frame of the clip would prevent it from looping. This was not the case however. After that I tried calling gotoAndStop(0); to reset the movieclip and stop it from looping. This did not work either. Then I went through my code to make sure nothing else was causing it to play.

I solved the problem by adding an extra frame to the end of the clip and calling gotoAndStop to that frame instead of 0. I've looked around the forums and google for information on this phenomenon but have only found cryptic answers. I was wondering if someone could explain the divine purpose that drives MovieClips to play regardless of whether they are told to stop or not when they get to frame 0 or 1.

Flash :: Stop Other Frame Animations Myself?

Oct 4, 2011

I've a MovieClip symbol with 5 frames (let's call it the main MovieClip), each frame holds a different MovieClip symbol and each of those symbols has a small motion in them. If let's say I move to the 3rd frame in the main MovieClip: object.gotoAndStop(3);Then symbol's small motion animation, which frame 3 holds, automatically starts as I saw. So I'm thinking here do the other frames (1, 2, 4 and 5), which are not visible on stage though, are stopped and I don't need to worry about stopping each of them myself (like attaching code to each 1st frame to call .stop()) ?Because if I would now call right away object.gotoAndStop(1); it would start that frame's animation right away.

Animations Will Inexplicably Stop At Certain Point In Published SWF

May 13, 2009

I'm a longtime flash animation hobbyist and I've encountered a problem I've simply never seen before. After I publish my entire project to SWF it plays as it should without a hitch, but just about the midway point of the cartoon the animations simply freeze on me. What's even more confusing is that the audio of the movie, all set to play as Stream, do NOT stop and continue playing in the proper order and that includes audio from subsequent scenes. So basically once my cartoon reaches X I can hear my movie playing normally but everything else is frozen.I'm working in Flash8 and using FlashPlayer9 There are no actionscript commands in the scene where the animations stop. The only actionscript commands in the entire project are a Preloader/Start button at the beginning and a Stop command at the very end. When I publish only the troublesome scene it plays fine. This project is actually a very long movie, clocking in at just under 24 minutes. There are a total of 42 scenes in it and all principle animations take place directly on stage, not broken down into graphic numbers or movie clips.
