ActionScript 3.0 :: Track When The Mouse Has Left The Stage Area?

Oct 17, 2008

I know we can track when the mouse has left the stage area in AS3.

But, can it reset a button that would have stayed in its "on" state?

My swf will be embedded in a web page, there are 24 buttons all around its border, and as soon as the mouse leaves the stage, they stay "on", so I want to reset them to the initial state.

ActionScript 3.0 :: If Mouse Enters Area Of Stage Run Function Once, Run Another If It Leaves?

Jan 23, 2010

my problem is I have a scrolling list. I applied a simple fade in on mouse Over and fade out on Mouse Out using tweenMax.The buttons etc within the list cause the mouse Out to fire when the mouse is still over the list. I can not set mouseChildren = false on the playlist as the buttons inside obviously need to work.

So I thought maybe I could detect if the mouse is inside a specific area and fire the tween functions that way.I could use a stage enterFrame event listener, but that would keep firing the Fade in tween while the mouse was inside the area, and same problem with Fade out tween.How can I set it up so the fade in fires only once when mouse enters the area, and fade out only once when it leaves.

PHP Code:

stage.addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME, playlistFade);
function playlistFade(e:Event):void{
if(mouseX >= 160 && mousX <= 400 && mouseY >= -177 && mouseY <= 100){

ActionScript 3.0 :: Flash Controlling Stage Area For Mouse Trail Effect?

Feb 14, 2012

I created a 300x250 Web banner for Google with a mouse trail effect. The banner will not upload because, according to the Google tech people, the banner contains animation that goes "out of bounds." Common sense tells me that if a mouse effect is applied to a Flash banner, then it should only be occurring when a user mouses over that banner. However, I was told that the mouse effect does indeed take place outside the 300x250 banner boundaries, which is preventing the banner from being fully uploaded live.

Does anyone know how to define the stage area so that the mouse effect only occurs in this 300x250 space? Perhaps the only way to get around this is to create a 300x250 hidden button and somehow make the mouse effect occur on rollover. If that is the case, then does anyone know how to do that?

Actionscript 3 :: Wmode="opaque" Causes Selection On Textarea To Behave Wierdly After Mouse Is Pressed And Left Stage

Oct 11, 2010

I m using textarea in flash 10 cs5 as3. The problem is when i try to select a text and go out of stage and leave the mouse then again move mouse on text then selection of text will move with the mouse.

Here is what causes that:

* click somewhere on the text and drag the mouse in order to select the text
* then go out of the swf
* leave the mouse
* now move mouse on textarea

the selection of text will move with the mouse. How to stop this behavior? I tried to implement mouseleave on stage but the problem is i m not able to detect mouseleave event when mouse is pressed and it leaves the stage.

This is because of wmode="opaque" parameter. I found out that it doesn't do this when wmode="window". Is there a solution for this?

ActionScript 3.0 :: When Mouse Down On The Menu And Then Drag The Mouse Off Of The Menu AND Off Of The Stage, I.e The SWF (whilst In Mouse Down) And Then Mouse Up Completely Off Of The Stage?

Jun 24, 2010

I have designed a menu that When you mouse over it, a custom cursor appears. When you mouse down it disappears and when you mouse up it returns. If you happen to mouse down and then drag the mouse off of the menu (whilst in mouse down) and then mouse up outside the menu, the custom cursor disappears. All good. The only issue is: If you happen to mouse down on the menu and then drag the mouse off of the menu AND off of the stage, i.e the SWF (whilst in mouse down) and then mouse up completely off of the stage, the custom cursor appears at the point it left the menu. I have tried to fix this using MOUSE_LEAVE but this dosnt work when the mouse button is pressed down. I have attached an FLA, SWF and the AS below.

Code:
stop();
import com.greensock.*;
import com.greensock.easing.*;
import flash.events.MouseEvent;

Making An Image Transparent In The Area Of The Mouse While Mouse Button Is Down?

Mar 25, 2010

I would like to make a flash movie with a picture, where when the user holds down the mouse button, part of another picture will emerge in that general area (like a magnifying glass looking into another dimension).

Technically, my idea was to make a flash file with two images, and then code the mouse to be able to make the top picture transparent in a circle-like area around the cursor, while the mouse button is down.

But how to do that? I am using Flash CS4, but I don't really care if the solution is in AS2, or AS3, as long as it works

ActionScript 3.0 :: Floating Images Track Mouse?

Aug 9, 2010

I always come here and scour the tutorials and forums for help when I need it- but this is the first time I've not been able to find what I need or in the form that I want - anywhere it seems! The site that I am working on consists of one main element, from which the user can open frames containing information. As you can imagine this is pretty one dimensional- so I'm looking to add some depth to this site. Now the point- I really enjoy the effect demonstrated on the website for Pretty Lights music.

The effect I'm referring to is having background elements slightly follow the mouse - and they track in different strengths (creating a nice feeling of depth). I don't plan on my own being as complex- the idea I had was simply having some "dust" looking specks in front of and behind my main content, and having it all track slightly with the mouse as the user navigates the site.

Actionscript 3 :: Track X And Y Values Of Multiple Object Instances On The Stage?

Oct 27, 2011

I have an arbitrary number of object instances on the stage. At any one given time the number of objects may be between 10 and 50. Each object instance can move, but the movement is gradual, the current coordinates are not predictable and at any given moment I may need to retrieve the coordinates of a specific object instance. Is there a common best-practice method to use in this case to track object instance coordinates? I can think of two approaches:

I write a function within the object class that, upon arbitrary event execution, is called on an object instance and returns that object instances coordinates.
Within the object class I declare global static variables that represent x and y values and, upon arbitrary event execution, the variables are updated with the latest values for that object instance.
