ActionScript 1/2 :: Constant Speed Movement Of Object?

Apr 20, 2009

I am trying to get an object to track my mouse on press and i am using a tween. However, the nature of the tween is such that the time taken for the object would move would always be constant despite the distance.

I would like to make the object travel at a constant speed regardless of the distance. Is it correct for me to use a tween? If not what should I be using?The code for my tween is as follows.

map_mc.tracker_mc._x = map_mc._xmouse;map_mc.tracker_mc._y = map_mc._ymouse;startx = map_mc.crosshair_mc._x;endx = map_mc.tracker_mc._x;starty = map_mc.crosshair_mc._y;endy = map_mc.tracker_mc._y;
trackTweenx = new Tween(map_mc.crosshair_mc, "_x", Regular.easeIn, startx, endx, spd, true);trackTweeny = new Tween(map_mc.crosshair_mc, "_y", Regular.easeIn, starty, endy, spd, true);

map_mc.tracker_mc is the mouse cursor that would appear when onPress while the map_mc.crosshair_mc is the object that would track my cursor's movements.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Object Follow Mouse At Constant Speed?

Sep 13, 2009

I am using Flash 8 and AS2. I have been looking and looking, but I cannot find how to have an object follow the mouse at a Constant speed. The code I keep on finding is something like this:
Code:
onClipEvent (load) {
_x = 0;
_y = 0;
speed = 5;
} onClipEvent (enterFrame) {
endX = _root._xmouse;
endY = _root._ymouse;
_x += (endX-_x)/speed;
_y += (endY-_y)/speed;
}
The "/speed" part makes the object move slower the closer it gets.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Speed Up Text On Stage Design Area?

Aug 12, 2009

how to speed up the workspace when there happens to be a large amount of text on the stage? I have tried everything I can think of (even choosing outlines only for the layer). It seems to slow down my system even if the layer is not visible. Now doing anything is a chore. I have a pretty fast system, and it's pretty bad that after all these flash iterations I still can't have text on the stage and continue work.

I am trying to write a script to move a ball MC smoothly across the stage, without using tweens. I have thus far been successful, but there is one problem: the way I have it set up, speed increases with distance! I need the speed to remain constant. I understand why, but I can't figure out what approach to take to make the speed constant.

ActionScript Code:
var speed = 100;
var newx, newy, distx, disty, speedt;[code].....

Professional :: Make Tweens Move At A Constant Speed?

Feb 14, 2012

I have Adobe Flash CS 5 and have been having difficulties trying to get a created tween to move at a constant speed. I have been converting a graphic I've created to a symbol and turning it into a motion tween, however I have only figured out how to move the tween on a frame by frame basis. Is there a way I can map out the full trajectory of the tween and then set it to travel along that pathway at a constant speed rather than moving from point to point within a certain number of frames? The desired result is a green circle that will bounce off the edges of the computer screen/window as it moves along at a constant speed in the appropriate direction. I am a flash novice and have been fiddling with the program for a few days

I am moving movieclips around my stage in relation to the users mouse location.  All of my movieclips have the registration point placed in the default  top left corner.  As an object moves off the stage to the left it suddenly disappears when the registration point reaches the edge of the stage.  I would like to see the whole object move off the screen instead of just disappearing when the left corner reaches the edge.  I would move the registration point to the right side but I would like the movieclip to be able to move off all sides of the stage (top, bottom, left, right)

ActionScript 2.0 :: Fullscreen The Video Object Loads In The Top-left Corner Of The Stage?

May 8, 2008

I'm working in a xml videogallery and I'm using a video component... The problem is that when I go fullscreen the video object loads in the top-left corner of the stage (is a 800x600 movie) tough I publish my movie with 100% x 100% dimensions.

[Code]...

As you can see after the first fullscreen the stage remains in the Top Left corner. Is there any way to make the stage return to the center? I need to do it when I return from fullscreen to normal mode... or.. what can I do? I tried to put the gallery inside a MC and center it but still fails cos the video object loads in the registration point of the MC (like in the first example I've provided)...

Actionscript 3 :: Infinite Horizontal Scroll At Constant Speed Using TweenLite?

Jan 24, 2012

I need to do an endless horizontal scroll of elements within a parent MovieClip.No matter what ever method I try, an element of 'drift' occurs and eventually the elements start to overlap.I've tried using relative recursive tweening for each element according but this method seems prone to quite a bit of error after repeated starts and stops.

//CODE START
function doScroll():void {
TweenLite.to(this, .25, {x:"20", ease:Linear.easeNone,onUpdate:checkPos,onComplete:doScroll});
}
//CODE END

I've reverted to doing absolute tweens to a predefined position using a contant speed. This seems to be more accurate but still some 'drift' occurs.

//CODE START
//_dest is predefined
var speed:Number = 500;
var dist:Number = this.x - _dest;

Actionscript :: Flex : Ensure That Events All Travel Down One Object Tree, Regardless Of Target?

Mar 5, 2011

I have numerous objects, many of them are stored within other objects (and overlap in physical space). As I zoom into an object, it begins to fade away. At the moment it begins to fade, I load in the child object (or create a child object if one doesn't exist). I want to turn off the parent object's ability to respond to most events. The exception is the scroll wheel, which needs to be sent to both objects simultaneously so that the parent can continue to fade out as I zoom farther in. Try as I might, I can't find a way to tell Flex "hey, for right now dispatch these types of events ONLY to this object." I either end up with event dispatch stack overflows from trying to manually redirect the events, or I get events that don't activate at the correct time or on the correct object. What can I do?

I've just learned the basics of programmatic animation in Actionscript 3.0 but I can't seem to think of the right solution for this problem.Here is what I'm trying to do: A ball moves at a certain speed from the left of the screen to the right end. If there's a box in the way, it keeps bumping into it until the box breaks and it continues moving forward.The box will have a set weight that will control how much it slides when it is bumped by the ball. The ball will be pushed back a bit when it bumps the box.I have a very specific idea and all I need is a little help starting. How would you tackle this problem?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Xml Object Vs Regular Object Speed

Nov 27, 2011

Im writing a app that stores run time values in an object and uses them (instead of i.e. an array). The defaults I load in from an XML file. XML itself beeing an object; could i just use the XML object to keep the current values or is this a 'slow' object compared to as3.0 internal objects. Speed is of the essence since it is supposed to become a game. The internal object isnt as fast as normal array access but so far its working fast enough.

Loading in the XML into a new (but totally similar object) seems silly. If it operates on the same prinicple/speed i could rewrite it and really clean up and simplify the code. Noy wanting to try it if its gonna be slower.
