ActionScript 3.0 :: Use Method To Replace The TextInput Field To Text Class?
Aug 11, 2011
In my situation, I need to use these method to replace the TextInput field to Text class. as the result, I don't know how can I get the updated class name when I was replaced before. I try to use getQualifiedClassName function, and it will get the orginial class name, not the replaced class name
Someone got any idea to solve this?
var pic:Picture = new Picture; // custom dynamic class with a method called onLoadPIc pic.onLoadPIc = onLoadMe; i'm trying to change the method of my custom class on the fly for this instance...
Is it possible to override/replace a method of a class in AS3? When I say "replace", I don't mean subclass it and override it. I mean I literally want to replace the existing method with my own. For instance, AS3 has the built-in HTMLLoader class which has a load method. I want to say, in essence: HTMLLoader.load = function() { trace("Overridden"); }; Therefore, when *anybody* makes a new HTMLLoader object and calls the load method, it will call my method instead.
I've tried a couple things, and so far I've gotten this far: HTMLLoader.prototype.load = function() { trace("Overridden") }; And I compile it with -as3=false -es=true -strict=false. The problem is it doesn't override the already-existing load method. It looks in the class first before looking in the prototype, thus making it not work. There must be a way. Even if I can't override it, can I proxy it like a decorator in Python or a macro in LISP? (So mine gets called then it gets called.)
What I am trying to do is rather simple, but I am having problems. All I want to do is pass the values entered into a TextInput component into a Dynamic Text Field I need this to be realtime, so when the user is entering the values it is updating in the text fields. I have 5 TextInput instances and 5 Dynamic Text Fields on the stage The TextInput values need to be passed to the Dynamic Text Boxes.
The update to the Dynamic Text Box is always one character behind what is entered into the TextInput component. For instance my name is Shawn, if I enter "Shawn" into the Text Input the Dynamic Text Boxes will display "Shaw". It will only enter the "n" if I type another character then backspace it, deleting the extra character.
When I add a TextInput to the stage I can access it with instanceName.text. this works. Now I have one Movieclip with one TextInput inside (the textinput's instance name is testetxt). This MovieClip has a corresponding class and its code is the following:
class com.sck.testeT extends MovieClip { public var testetxt:MovieClip;
[Code]....
The textinput gets transparent but the text isn't changed... I realized it was because the textinput wasn't initialized yet. so I have to wait a while, but how can I know that it was initialized and I can set the initial text by code?
i have several instances of the same class on stage every time i change the text in the text field of one of the instances, they all change i would like to have different text in each instance?
I have a TextInput field that should be restricted to either capital letters, lowercase letters, numbers and underscores. This is the code I'm trying to use to restrict characters:
restrict="A-Za-z˝-9 \_-"
I'm using MXML for this Textinput component.
Unfortunately this does not restrict the character, which is the last character I'd like to restrict.
How can I add the backslash to the list of restricted characters?
I have an app where I am looking to make the enter key act like a tab key. I can easily capture the keypress event and setFocus to a textinput field. The problem is figuring out which textinput field to give focus to. I have this code
trace(this.window.focusManager); //returns TheWindow86.focusManager trace(this.window.focusManager.getNextFocusManagerComponent()); //returns null //This is what I was hoping would work this.window.focusManager.getNextFocusManagerComponent().setFocus();
The code is in a controller class and "this.window" references an instance of a nativeWindow mxml file "TheWindow.mxml". The first trace works as expected, but the second one gives null.
Regarding the dateField, there is the TextInput and the Icon. I want the icon to appear on the left side of the TextInput instead of it appearing on the right side as it is in the default state.
How do you two-way bind an integer to an input field in Flex/FB4? is_admin is an integer : <s:TextInput id="textUserIsAdmin" text="@{user.is_admin}" width="5"/> I receive: 1067: Implicit coercion of a value of type String to an unrelated type int. Is there a different input type, or do I have to bind a different way?
This is what I'm trying but all that displays is [object Object]
I think I need to define the database field I'm wanting to display, but I'm unsure how to do this as TextInput fields don't support dataField or labelField properties. Is there another property I don't know about? How do i go about fixing this?
changing the content of text fields that are on the stage of the main timeline from within an external class. I have created a countdown timer which is called from the Document Class. I think it is a problem with the scope of the variable but I can't work it out.
I need to populate the text field tField (defined on stage) that resides inside ParentClass (MovieClip with same class name). I want to be able to set tField.text to whatever I want from AnotherClass. How do I do it?
I'm trying to use regular expressions with the String.replace() method to manipulate a string to replace all instances of a forward slash "/" with a period "."
So for instance, if I start with this String: "things/stuff/cheese/yum"
I want to convert it to: "things.stuff.cheese.yum"
Easy enough if I want to replace a letter... let's say I wanted to replace all instances of the letter "e", I would do this: Code: var str:String = "things/stuff/cheese/yum"; var myPattern:RegExp = /e/g; trace(str.replace(myPattern, ".")); // returns: "things/stuff/ch..s./yum" ... but how do I replace all instances of "/"??
Is there a way to pass the textfield A text to a dynamic text input (flash) as I'd like to use the font embedding flash offers. I can make it work when loading a value from a txt file but I'm not sure how to access the value identified above as KitGroupID_16_TextOption_38 and make it appear in a dynamic input box. Eventually I might want to have 3 font choices for the user but I'd like to just see if I can get this working properly first.
Does anyone know of a way to restrict a user from entering a number over 100 into a textinput field in flex? i.e. a user can enter any number between and including 0-100 but not 101
I've come across a couple threads that pertain t my question but after reading them, trying different approaches, and searching the internet I am still confused. How do I create visual elements, such as a text field, dynamically from Actionscript in a class file?
Basically I created a class file that loads an external XML file and now I want to create dynamic text fields for the elements in the XML file. I did some debugging and I know the XML is loaded correctly. I can also get it to create dynamic text fields when I place the code inside of the fla. The problem is when the code is in the class file. I've read that you need to pass the display object to the class but I am still unclear on how to do it.
My fla has the following code on the first frame:
import classes.estimatesheet; var sheet1:estimatesheet = new estimatesheet("xml/estimationSheetFields.xml");
So I am making a small course in Flash CS5 that will take the users input from the course using Text Input boxes on the stage and create a PDF document with the information using PurePDF. I have the PDF documents all working the course all set and I can access the Text Input field text from the main timeline and store it in a variable but I can't access that variable from my document class in order to plug it into the PDF document. I did some searching and I found people saying to use MovieClip(root).myVar but it just comes up null when I trace it.
I want to load text into a dynamic text field (called 'about_tab') using a class depending on the language selected (by clicking on a flag icon) by the user.
I managed to get this to work when the ActionScript was written directly in the timeline, but am having problems with doing the same thing via a class.
When I run it, it returns my trace statements that the class ChangeLang and the function xmlLoaded are running, but no text appears in the dynamic text field (I should/want to see the word 'About'). I get this error message:
