Apr 28, 2011I have images in my library I want to reference in code, because I want those images to be displayed dynamically.

View 2 RepliesGot to the point where the hole in my AS3 knowledge is getting large!Realising I have confusion about the relationship of:Body of code on first frame of AS3 file.(Which I have so far used to create instances of library objects using addchild and make calls to class code).Is this code called the document code? What do people call it?Numerous classes linked together by extending each other etc.Library objects (usually graphical objects)Should it be done differently? have the following problems due to lack of understanding:Addchild complicated from a class but straight forward in main body code.Cant call functions on the main body code from classes, because class code does not know the main body code exists?
View 1 RepliesWhat library/API or even a program for converting flash code into html 5 code automatically do you recommend me?
View 2 RepliesHow can we import images using AS3 code so that when they are imported once will remain in the library forever..
View 3 Repliesis it better to import images to the timeline at runtime, or export them from the library for use in action script?
I have a few images which make up the background to my website (ie they are unlikely to change very often - if at all), which I am currently exporting from the library for use with my action script code, and the rest of my images I am dynamically loading in based on a set of paths held in a csv file (these may change often).
As I have already built the class to dynamically load in external images, I was wondering if I should also load in those images which make up the background.
I've got a flash movie that loads images from an external folder. I'd like to make a CD version and would like to have the images embedded in the flash movie so that the images can't be copied from the cd. I thought I could add the images to the Library and reference them from the xml file.
View 2 RepliesI made six buttons. All of them appeared in the library before, but now only five of them do. When I double click on the button (on the stage) which has a missing library reference, I'm able to edit it as usual nonetheless. Is this a database gone bad? If so, how can I rebuild the database index?
View 1 RepliesI have a component in my library that I want to programmatically place on the stage and manipulate from my external actionscript file. I have a blank FLA and all the movieclips, text, etc that are on the stage have being created in an external ActionScript file and placed on the stage. However I would like to access this one component that is stored in my library without having to place it on the stage - since everything is to be done in ActionScript.
View 2 RepliesI'm using Flash CS5 (AS3) for my main application, and I need to load multiple swf files (childs) at different times. The swfs (childs) import assets from a separate flash swf used as a shared library. I'm using 1 swf loader to keep 1 swf loaded at a time. Loading the first swf works fine, but loading subsequent swfs generates an error in importing from the shared library swf.

is it possible to reference an item that is present in the library of an external SWF.Like use a attachMovie on a movieclip thats located in an SWF which is imported using loadMovie?

My flex (flash builder 4) project references (embeds) a flex library project (ReusableFx). I have it working fine when it builds and runs, but I am struggling with a Design mode error "Design mode: Error during component layout...". In the flex library project there is a 'default.css' file which references a png file. Specifically like this:
[Code]...
It works when I build and run, I see the icon, but the problem is that design mode must work different in flash builder and breaks with this line. I tried a few things with no difference:

How do I reference a library movieclip in a class? I couldn't get it to work entering the name of the class in the linkage properties (as2 class name text field). The variable was undefined. I know I'm missing something....what is it?
View 4 RepliesI have a CS3 Flash in my Dreamweaver website. Is there a way to move my script to a .js file or something, then reference it in the code instead of it all showing in the code? If so, how would I do that?
View 2 RepliesPBar contains two SimpleButtons (pBarProgress and pBarLoaded) and a MovieClip (pBarBg).I import pBar from the library like this:private var pBar:PBar = new PBar();and add it to a container MC on the stage like this:containerMC.addChild(pBar);Up to this point, everything works great. I can see pBar and its children on the stage when I run my movie. But then I want to start referencing and manipulating pBar's child objects, but nothing I do works. Ive tried ...pBar.pBarProgress.scaleX = 0;var pBarProgress:SimpleButton = Bar.getChildByName("pBarProgress") as SimpleButton; pBarProgress.scaleX
View 1 RepliesI'm trying to create a swf so it always pulls images from a folder (e.g., containing image1.jpg, image2.jpg, etc), so if someone needs to easily swap out images they can do it by simply replacing image1.jpg. Is this possible?
View 5 RepliesBeen so long I haven't write anything here in the forum. I have a big FLA file containing a huge symbol with lots of subsymbols on it. The structure is crazy however there is no even a single line of code in the FLA. The big symbols is exported for actionscript, is associated with some class (say TheSymbol) and its base class is set to MovieClip. I publish the big FLA file to SWC file and link the SWC to project with "Merge into code" linkage type.

I'm creating a mask effect. i create 10 movieclip with a library class reference that appear on the screen with a random alpha effect. THe problem is that if i try the effect alone all works ok. if i mask the layer that contains the effect on an image i don't see the effect. i see directly the image masked with the boxes. i can't explain that because i've the effect first but it seems that when i test the movie the effect doesn't play and the boxes appear directly on the screen.
View 5 RepliesI would like to load movie clips from the library to the stage.How can I load them with some code on them? I mean load them already with onClipEvents on them, as if I added them myself to the stage..

View 1 RepliesI am a learning programmer who is trying to do some simple experiments. However, when I go to change my code, the exported SWF never updates; it simply tests an older version of whatever I am testing. The only way for me to fix this is by restarting Flash, which is not ideal in any way.BTW I am using Flash CS5.5, if that means anything.
View 8 RepliesI found that Eclipse IDE for red5 generates sample client SWF code which is using JedaiLib-0.2.swc as a library. All actual code is hidden inside this file.
Where did this file come from? Who wrote it? Is it possible to obtain it's sources or documentation?[URL]..
-I need to load a movie clip to the stage from the library.
-I also need that movie clip to load with a certain string of actionscript code in it.
To load the movie clip, i checked the "export for actionscript" thing in the "linkage" section of the movie clip info, and i named the class "sol1".I then used this code on the first (and only) frame:
Code: Select all
_root.attachMovie("sol1", "NewInstanceName", {_x: 50, _y: 100});
It seems to work, but the question is, how do i load the movie clip with code in it?
Does Adobe had releases the source code for the components that comes with Flash CS4 (fl.controls.*). If not, is there any way to use the Flash component library with another IDE like FlashDevelop for code and compile the flash applications.
View 1 RepliesI'm involved in writing a Flex/ActionScript library and in the future I will be involved in writing the same library in JavaScript. Rather than writing a library in each language and having to maintain them separately I was wondering if it was possible to:
1) Write the code in one language and share the code into the other e.g. Write the code in JavaScript and use the same .js files in ActionScript
2) Write the code in one language and perform a conversion into the other
I know it's possible to communicate between Flash/ActionScript and JavaScript but I'd like to avoid the overheads in using the technology bridge so this isn't really an option.
How do other people deal with writing and maintaining libraries that do exactly the same thing but in different languages? Specifically how do people do this between JavaScript and ActionScript?
I have a Button Component on my Stage.
When I go to compile I get the following error.
1000(Ambiguous reference to Button)
Cant seem to find what is wrong here.
I have 60 images in a library within a .fla file that I want to save to my PC. (I lost the originals). Flash won't let me drag-and-drop them or anything remotely sensible like that.Suggestions posted around t'Internet talk about putting each one on the stage and going through "file-export". Besides from being very tedious, this might not be so great - the images constitute an animation and need to be precisely aligned.Incidentally, the library does have a movieclip of 60 frames - each containing a single image.If all else fails, is there some tool which will extract these images out of the compiled swf?
View 1 Repliesi have an image and it is a large sheet with series of poses for a character (like a sprite sheet), and wanted to take them out to be animated and make them into individual movie clips.I did successfully, but I went to delete the original image, however, the movie clips became red fills.Is there a way I can get rid of the original without affecting the movie clip?-If not-I wanted to do this because I thought it may save memory but i am not really sure if it will affect the memory since the sheet itself is not going on the stage, is there a chance that this full sprite sheet in the library won't effect the file size of .swf?And if it does, if I turn it into a graphic, or movie clip, will that compress it?I use Flash CS3!
View 3 RepliesI am loading some external images, that bit is sorted. What I cant seem to figure out is how to reference the newly loaded image.
Here is the snippet of code I have
ActionScript Code:
public function loadImg(img:String):void {
loader.load(new URLRequest(img));
myHolder.addChild(loader);
loader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, loaded);
} private function loaded(event:Event):void {
//How do I reference the new image here so I can do stuff to it? }
I know how to do it in AS2 but cant seem to get at it here. Is it passed through the event?
I am making a game where I reference "Player_mc" quite a lot. I have a bunch of full characters (movieclips) in the library that work as the player when put on the stage and referenced as "Player_mc". I need a code that can reference those characters (movieclips) in the library, and move them onto the stage and name them "Player_mc". Also I need a way of removing an existing "Player_mc" so that another character can be referenced and brought onto the stage as "Player_mc". Here is what I have: if (this.P1Character==(Whatever that character's number is)){
