i want to put all variables of an object into ByteArray in declaration order. the object can be a extends one. here is my code:

i try to print the xml, but i can not find the meaning of "pos"....
In Flex you can use Declarations tags fo non UI elements.Problem:The order of classes inside the Declaration is sorted ascending or something...Meaning that in this example, AClass will be instantiated before BClass:

I have an object which is assigned a number of properties:

but I'm not quite sure where to place this. If I place it outside of the object constructor, I get "term is undefined", I guess because it doesn't know what project_clips_array is - but if I declare project_clips_array in the constructor, it appears to need to be defined, i.e. I can't create a blank property. But I can't place it in the constructor either, because it doesn't seem to allow me to run a function within an object constructor. What is the proper syntax or arrangement of code for executing this function to get the array within the object?
I am putting together my file right now which is now using visual elements purely added and removed via AS3 (addChild / removeChild) methods.My question is just about the proper time / place to declare their variables.Can I declare them all at the start of the movie (frame 1) and just call them when I need them, or is it better to declare them on the frames that they are introduced on? I guess the question is really, will I ever lose those variables throughout the movie once they are declared?

How do you add an XML declaration - < ?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"? > - to a Flex XML object? The same thing you could do with the old XML - new XMLDocument class and the xmlDecl property.

This is a "canvas" I'm using to drag mc's around on to make various pictures.I've set up my code so I can click any mc in that list and make it "selected". I can then, with controls outside "theContainer", change the selected clip's scale or alpha, etc.I'd like to set up 2 buttons outside that display list so I can change the stacking order of those clips in "theContainer".So if I add clip "a" to the display list, then add clip "b" to the display list, then add "c" and "d" and "e and "f" to it, I want to be able to move any of those clips forward or backward.First I'd need to learn what the index is of the clip I want to move up or down in the display list.[code]That's my problem, I can't know what the index is, or how to get a property to find it.I'm looking for a way to "get the clip's index" then to "make the index, the current index + 1", to move it up in the display list."setChildIndex( dispObj, index ) would be nice if I could know what the index was and then add +1 to it like this:setChildIndex(clip, current index + 1);

I have a regular spark list which is sorted correctly when no item renderer is used. However, when the following item renderer is used, the list shuffles and displays items from previous instances of the list.[code]

1. Is assigning variable names to checkboxes and radio buttons the same as in visual basic? I mean i know that you probably assign them in the properties. ex..say i name a radio button 'radio1', to run a check in my actionscript whether radio1 was checked or not would it be something like if(radio1){}

View 6 RepliesI am trying to print a string with html formatting. Part of the formatting includes font face. I have found that my print job will not print any string that includes a font face declaration. I'm guessing because the font isn't embedded, but I'm not positive.
This works:
string = "<b>bold</b> not bold";
Doesn't work:
string = "<TEXTFORMAT LEADING="2"><P ALIGN="LEFT"><FONT FACE="Arial" SIZE="12" COLOR="#000000" LETTERSPACING="0" KERNING="0">this is my string</font></p></textformat>";
