I have a button on the right side of my screen. When I click it I want a full screen menu system to come in from the right hand side and stay in place until another button is clicked.I have all the parts built, but I don't know how to use buttons properly. The only tutorials I've found are the ones that tell you how to show or hide something, or how to change the appearance of the button.
View 1 RepliesI have a flash video using the FLVPlayback 2.5 container with a customized skin, but nothing crazy I just copied and and changed some colors of an existing skin. I'm using FlashVars to pass in the video location and have a poster frame for a "play" button centered on the video. When you click the screen the poster goes away and comes back when the video ends or it is stopped. All of this works just fine unless it's in full screen. When it goes into fullscreen I can't see the poster frame. I don't know what's going on. When it comes back down to normal size the code is working.I've tried different ways of setting the x, y, width and height, but nothing works. Do I need to set the depth as well??

Earlier today my motion preset displayed perfectly.I was able to set motion presets easily.Then later in the day it will not display.I know that I have to first go to Window - select Motion Preset and it should displayI couldn't be missing a step since it was working perfectly all day. How do I get it back?
View 5 RepliesWhat I have done is create a new actionscript 3 document, imported to stage my bitmap then converting it to movie clip, then i just apply the 3d spin motion preset.When i try the movie it spins ok apart from 1 frame where it looks like the bitmap moves to the left slightly.Do I need to delete frame 1 or the last frame perhaps
View 4 RepliesI have added a fly in right to a symbol and I want to add a fly out right after a certain number of frames. I've been through a tutorial on Lynda of the new CS4 tweening, but what I cannot figure out is how to add the second motion to the new motion tween. When I try to select the last frame or add a new keyframe past the last frame, Flash asks me if I want to replace the existing tween. I can't figure out how, like in classic tweening, to add a fade out, e.g., to the existing item after so many frames.
View 5 RepliesI created a custom Motion Preset, and saved the corresponding swf file to .../adobe/adobe flash cs4/Common/Motion Presets. When I looked for the xml file, nothing. The preset does show within the Motion Preset Panel under Custom, but no preview. I also search for the xml within the .../en/Motion Preset directory as well.re this preset file may be hiding. I'm on a PC and all applications located within my Program Files directory.
View 6 Replieswhile ago I made a created a basic effect in Flash CS4 whereby a selection of logos on my web-page gradually disappeared (in the same spot, not shrinking in size first or any other of the effects displayed in the motion presets) think this was done by some kind of preset but it doesn't seem to be in the motion presets panel. I can not seem to remember how it was done and I can't find the relevant settings. I don't know ActionScript so it was definitely a preset.Enclosed are some screen shots of the effect that I mean (stages every few seconds until they completely disappear).

Problem: When saving the file, the "Save As Filetype" drop down is empty and end users can accidentally delete the swf file extension in the filename.How can we lock down the extension so it will always have SWF in the extension?
Technique 1? Set "Save As Filetype" to SWF by default.
Technique 2? Click "Publish as Flash".User specifies the filename.File is saved on the server. User presented with prompt to download file. File is downloaded from the server using the traditional browser windows explorer dialog box (the same dialog box if I downloaded a program from cnet's [url]...........)
I really like the new tweens and motion panel that Flash added in CS4 but I'm having some problems with them that I cant find a solution to.
1. When I animate or apply a preset animation it changes the position slightly. I do work where I need things positioned exactly where I put them. For example X:70 Y:210 but when I animate it might for example change it to X:70 Y:210.5 and to make it more confusing even if I animate a group of them at the same time it only does this to some things and not all. Also if I try to change the position back manually it doesnt always let me in the properties panel. I have to go to the Motion Editor and change it there frame by frame.
2. Similar problem to above but with the Alpha property. I want to animate things where it fades on and then stays up for a few frames and then animates back off. When I try to do this using the properties panel it doesnt always let me. So for example I need my alpha values to be in this order for the 4 keyframes. 0, 100, 100, 0. But for the 0 it might force it to 3% instead of the 0 I need. Again I can only fix this by going to the Motion Editor and adjusting it frame by frame.
I created a motion preset of a 3D text animation that made the text swing back and forth like a gate with the hinge on the far left side. However, when I apply the motion preset to other text, the text moves to a new location and the text swings closer to the center than the far left side. Moving the text only creates a travel path that further complicates matters.
what am I doing wrong with the motion preset? How can I save something into a preset and apply it to other things and have the animation work the way it was designed?
I'm currently making an animation which will eventually exceed the 16,000 frame limit (don't ask haha), so, short of making two movies and having to just start up the next one, what is the code for loading a movie? I presume they need to be in the same directory? So basically all I want is on the last frame of the movie the code executes and the second movie file opens up and starts. I guess I'd want the current movie to close, too.

View 6 RepliesI am creating a full site in flash. The main movie has an empty movie clip in the middle of the movie to load external movies as the user clicks on the links. Everything has worked good so far as the linking has only gone 1 level deep. However, when I created a new external movie, and had buttons on it for another external page, but yet to open in the main movie, I can't get anything to work. Example.... In the main movie, the user clicks on the archive link, and the external archive movie is loaded into the main movie. Now, on this archive movie, there is a button on it that links to a another movie (say text effects.swf). However, when they click this button for text effects, I can't get it to load into the main movie clip and replace the archive movie that was currenlty there.

I want to tell Flash to perform an action when that movie clip hits another movie clip in the main timeline. It's just collision detection for a game using the hitTestObject code. I was thinking of using MovieClip(root), but that won't work since it's nested so much.

I don't know if I should have the initial movie clip on custom cursor or have it set to drag... but either way I don't know how to make the second clip the "reflection follow along. Obviously it would need to follow at a slightly offset pattern so that you would be able to see both clips (or majority of them) at the same time. It's for a school project that is due at 9am tomorrow so time is of the essence!!

So I need to resize and redo thsoe movieclips. I make one banner and then save as new file and resize it. It is really annoying.. I am on P.C. and have all the current updates installed.

Each movie clip is on a single slide.
They play through and when a clip reached the end I have used the actionscript root.gotoAndPlay(x) where x is the slide number of the next clip in the sequence as such my timeline looks like this[code]...
We're making a viral video which is going to be distributed as FLV movie file free for download and redistribution.
I don't know much about flash yet but I can imagine FLV is just some sort of special flash application which can also include arbitrary code.
Is it possible to track how many times that movie file has been played by letting the FLV file perform a server-callback when playback begins?

I have 3 movies 'page flip4', 'pageflip4-2', and 'page flip 4-3' . I am looking for a way to fade in a white movie clip over my main movie when a button is pressed.
(i.e. When you press a button, a white rectangle will fade in over all other layers and then fade out after a couple of seconds. This is to make it look like the different pages are fading in and out without having to build the transition over and over again.)
I need a skip intro link in my movie that, when clicked, goes to the last frame of the movie and plays it.
