Actionscript 3.0 :: Force Mouse Activity Of Button Under A Movieclip?
Jun 10, 2009
I have an invisible movieclip over some buttons/images. I have it so that on mouse over that invisible button the images start panning from one to the next. The thing is that these images/buttons are supposed to be clickable, but with the invisible movieclip on top I just can't do that. Is there a way to force mouse activity on the buttons/images?
I've tried simply adding a movieclip to the back of the buttons/images and make the MOUSE_OVER listener on the whole movieclip that holds all the images but for some reason whenever the mouse goes from one image to the next it pauses the movement and then continues it, which looks like it identifies different movieclips (images/buttons AND the mc in the back) and re-does the MOUSE_OVER listener for each of them instead of the whole movieclip that holds all of them.

How would you force a mouse follow movieclip to snap to a x y position if it reaches x y boundaries or perhaps if a button is released the movie clip snaps to a x y position? Of course if the mouse returns to x y boundaries I'd like for the movie clip to follow again.
Right now this is the code I'm using to make the movieclip follow the mouse within x y boundaries:
I have a very large projector movie with many loaded in swf files. I want to make it so as you are reading and viewing the whole movie the screensaver is not active. I then want it so after 10 minutes of no activity a screensaver (or movieclip in the movie) starts playing and then goes away when there is activity again. How do I do this? What would be the best way... just have the screensaver (movieclip) the only thing in the first scene and it just goes to this after 10 minutes?
I would like to create some text on the stage that does not respond to mouse activity. I've found that after adding a piece of text to a class I am using to draw, it covers up some of the mousing area of my class and disables the user from being able to roll over the other graphical elements...
Is there something like:
var t:TextField = new TextField(); t.text = "hello"; t.active = false; //
i know that this is wrong, but I haven't found an equivalent method
I have a set of 5 button that change their opacity when clicked to a lower opacity. What I need to add is the ability to "toggle" the button to go back and forth from 100% opacity to 20% or whatever and then back to 100%. I would also like to add the ability to fade the opacity instead of it changing all at once. Her is the code as I have it so far.
I think this should be here instead of the Actionscrip area but not sure.I am using a button to have a small popup (which is a MovieClip) appear when the user does a mouse over. I have a LOT of these because it is a list of bullet points. What I'm wondering is if there is a way to do an array. It would cut WAY down on code.Although this is the Flash forum instead of ActionScript My code for one button is:
Is there a way to block mouse events except for a specific MovieClip or Sprite? i.e. I know that to prevent ALL mouse clicks, I can write something like:[code]
I have a few swf's that are loaded into a base file using levels. These clips can be cycled through by means of a setInterval function or when the user clicks the next or previous button. However, when the user hovers over a defined 'hit' area which is ultimately a blank movie clip, the setTimeout call is then canceled. This works fine, except that now the 'hit' clip - being above everything - prevents the movies below accepting hit states, and if I move it to below everything else, when one mouses over any element in the loaded movie, it then acts as though the user has mouse out of the hit area.
Is there any way to have this 'hit' clip do its job simply by determining if the mouse is over it, but without using an onRollOver function or equivalent?
I need to listerner the yellow botton inside a my movieclip_mc.This movieclip is draggable (drag and drop) and zoommable (with a slider). Now I've more than 200 buttons inside it. Every buttons have a code to pass a function. This code is a .txt name to read and put insie a text_Area.
Now I need a function to listener the double_clik on every buttons to pass his reference like codeXXX.txt to a function that read info inside the .txt file and put the reference into a text_area or a popUp.
My animation contains a button which 'hovers' or 'lightly floats' on the stage. The object and motion tween creating the 'hover' is in a movieclip which I then applied to a button symbol. When I test my swf and scroll over the button, the motion tween within the button skips back to the beginning. Is there a way to get a smoother transition?
PS. I put the button into a movieclip with the a motion tween and it doesn't seem to work properly.
I've a main movie, for example, this movie has 3 buttons, in each button there's a MovieClip in the Over area, for example button1 contains a MovieClip with some animation, this clip has an Instance name clip1_mc, ok, untill this, everything it's ok, the effect it's easy to achieve, when I rollover my mouse over that button, the clip called clip1_mc starts to play, piece of cake, the problem is this, what happens if I call an extrenal .SWF, this .SWF contains a simple button, when I rollover this button I want to play my clip inside in my button in my main Movie, I cannot do this, I was trying with something like this: on (rollOver) { _parent.clip1_mc.play(); } But this is not working.
I have a movieclip with my video player controls (play, stop, mute, etc). It is 480 pixels by 22 pixels. My video screen is behind it, which is 480x270. The video player controls are bottom-aligned.
I have some actionscript which makes the controls fade in and fade out, according to mouseover.
My problem is the video player controls movieclip is only 22 pixels tall.. so for anyone to see them (remember it requires a mouse over for them to appear), they have to put their mouse right on top of the controls. I want to make it so the video controls movieclip is not 22px tall, but really 270px tall.
So I need something to "hold it up" like a tent... to force it to be 480x270, clear background, with my 480x22 controls at the bottom.
I've made a nav bar using buttons, and have them working just fine for Up, Over, Down, and Hit. (okay, so hit isn't a state, but I'll count it is as the fourth one)Problem is, once clicked on and produces a change in the flash, I want the button to not return to the Up state, but to visually be different so you can tell you are in that section.First problem is I can't for the life of me think of what that state is called. (Makes it hard to search for, and my poor little brain is fried right now.)Second problem is, can I force a button to not go back to up state? (either the over or down state would work fine).Or do I have to detect the click and then make a call to swap out the button file for the relevant section?
I am using the following script in Flash CS4 for a URL link[code]...
and I would like the link to open the new page in the same tab. In Safari it opens the link in a new window (when the default is to open links in the same tab). In IE it opens in a new tab, and also in Firefox (though in Firefox this is the default behaviour for me). Is there a way to override default settings and get the link to open in the same tab for all browsers?
I create a custom component to override the linkButton to make it behave that if an exist value is found, it would shown as "Added".
By default the button label is "Add to cart", I could not make the button become "Added" after trying many trial and error on uHandler which I suppose, COMPLETE, ENTER_FRAME, CREATION_COMPLETE could not even update the label.
public class Btn extends LinkButton{ public function Btn(){ super();
I have 8 movie clips. They are set up to disappear when clicked.on (release) {this._visible = false;}The problem I am facing is that I want the movie clips to be clicked in a certain order, so mc1 has to be clicked (and disappear) before mc2 can be active and click-able. That way the user has to click on them in order for them to disappear.

In a project i'm doing I have a custom cursor, using the start drag command and mouse.hide. the issue being that the movieclip being dragged is blocking the mouse from initiation mouse events properly.
I have a very simple piece of code but it has one very annoying bug. When I press the button a second time, the code doesn't work. The only way to get the code to work is by moving the mouse a tiny bit, or moving the mouse off the button and back on. make a button that can be clicked many times without moving the mouse?
I changed the mouse cursor using a tutoral from this forum, but when I press the right mouse button, the standard mouse cursor reapears. How to prevent that?
I would like to make a flash movie with a picture, where when the user holds down the mouse button, part of another picture will emerge in that general area (like a magnifying glass looking into another dimension).
Technically, my idea was to make a flash file with two images, and then code the mouse to be able to make the top picture transparent in a circle-like area around the cursor, while the mouse button is down.
But how to do that? I am using Flash CS4, but I don't really care if the solution is in AS2, or AS3, as long as it works
I need to perform an event when the mouse moves AND when the mouse button is down, how can I do that? What will happen is that when I click and drag the mouse, the width of an object will change. Here is what I have so far:
This is quite a complicated problem to explain.Basically I had some buttons with a on mouse out, and on mouse over effects.I wanted each button to load a different scene of the movie. For some reason the on mouse over and mouse out button effects work until I link them to load a scene in the movie. The only button I have linked to load a movie is the Drinks button. It loads the drinks scene, no problem, however the mouse over effects don't seem to work anymore.I have included the .fla file so if someone could maybe have a quick look at it, it is probably just a small bit of coding I have done wrong!
