Actionscript 3.0 :: Proper Code For Non-scale Fill Preloader?
Dec 22, 2010
The preloader animation I created requires the water to fill up the container, but not by stretching or scaling a mask to reveal the water volume at the full point. Most tutorials show how to do this by scale, in relation to bytes loaded.
I'm getting the classic preloader problem of having the preloader not display until a certain percentage (in this case %30) of the total file has loaded. I am importing the TweenLite class in the second frame, and I am also dynamically attaching MovieClips from the library in that frame as well. I've tried putting a frame between the preloader and the title screen and using the Publish Settings to export all the classes in frame 2, but it does not help at all.
how to create the proper Actionscript code that will control the Alpha Transparency of a MC I want as a preloader. I want the MC to start of at 100% alpha-transparency, and then decrease to 0% alpha-transparency when the whole Scene is loaded. Also, it should show the precentage of the Scene loaded. I have the code that I thought would work to control the alpha transparency of the mc and loading it. But, I get confused with the perloader code to incorporate into the alpha transparency code? Does this make sense; is it possible?In Leaman's Terms, As the scene loads, the mc goes from invisible to visible at completion of the scene load.
Here is the code:
Code: onClipEvent (enterFrame) { loading = _parent.getBytesLoaded(); total = _parent.getBytesTotal();
[code]....
Now, I have no idea if and where you'd include the poper code to control the mc's alpha transparency based on the percentage of the scene loaded? Can someome maybe rework the code to make this work. And use a working example, that way I see it working to fully understand the concept? The mc's instance name is "sm_logo". Where would I use the instance name in this code, or better yet the proper code alltogether?
I have a mainmc on the stage. I have another extarnal mc called buttons_mc. When i use loadMovie and load that external mc, the loaded mc's AS2 doesnt seem to run when playing within the mainmc.
Is it possible that a loaded mc looses all its variable values when it comes into a main clip ? Or is my problem lying in the fact that the root paths of all the clips inside button_mc have to be changed to suit the main clip's hierarchy ?
I'm trying to make a preloader in which a grayscale logo fills with color based on the number of frames loaded. What I've done is make a static grayscale version of the logo named border and a colored in version on top of it named LoadBar.I have this code in frame 1,
ive tried making a image fill preloader using masks etc. When publishing its just showing my preloader not continuing to my content.which is on frame 11. I was wondering if anyne can help me with code?
ok so I am trying to draw a curve and then make it into a mask, the problem is, flash only calculates the mask for a fill and thus using the line does not work. Does anyone know of a way to convert a line to a fill with as3 without using something like bitmap data as I would like to keep it as vector data if possible, below is my code:
ActionScript Code: line = new Sprite(); this.addChild(line);
I have issues with the buttons working from the SWF file which is brought into the main flash site via UILoader.
[Code]...
I gathered that it is most probably due to the fact that I have constructed a button in the improper way.I tried to redo a button but it was the same result.I would like to try to access it through the main timeline. What would be the whole block of code to put a function on the button located inside an external SWF which is called in via a UILoader?
I'm looking to do a preloader for my site, what I want to do is that the user sees the percentage loaded, but instead of the typical bar filling up, I want dots to fill the screen. Each dot would appear with each percentage loaded. So for example, if its on 5%, there would be 5 dots, when it moves to 6%, another dot would appear on the screen. So in the end there would be 100 dots/circles on the screen. maybe say in a 10 by 10 grid. I know how to make the percentage loaded appear, but have no idea about the dots.
I am trying to create small flash application which would allow me to fill movieclip with different texures/bitmaps using actionscript. It should work something like this:Click herebut instead of fill with different colors movieclip should be filled with different bitmaps/textures. I have find tutorial for changing colors but not sure how to realize this to change textures.Perhaps there is some other solution beside using actionscript for which
I have this nice preloader in as3 which scales the bar depending on the percentage. I tried changing the code to fit as2 but the bar does not scale right? It scales about 10% of the full size and then stops instead of scaling back to 100% of the original size.[code]
trying to create an animated preloader.how to do a basic bar preloader but what I want is to fill a swirl shape (attached) based on the amount loaded.I can easily enough create the movie clip where the full outline is there and then it fills up but I have no idea how to turn that into a preloaded and have it fill based on the percent loaded. Am I correct in assuming I can't use a mask because of the irregular shape?
I used the preloader AS3 found here and it work fine localy but in firefox 4.0.1 it doesnt show the percent and the scale of the progress bar. is there an issue ?
I am new to flash, trying to do some animation character. I have 2 queries
1. What is lock fill; whenever I am trying to fill a color, it shows lock fill....
2. If I am creating a non regular figure like say with pencil, if I draw some part of it & do other part by later; these will be assumed different objects & I am not able to fill the whole figure with a selected color.
I'm new to AS3.0 and migrating from AS2.0.I followed the excellent preloader tut by Lee Brimelow HERE Instead of a % increment, I would like a traditional graphics preloader bar which shows how much has loaded.How would you amend Lee's code to show a preloader bar.I have tried a few times and I've been unsuccessful.
I'm going to try to explain this as easy as possible, so that hopefully I get an easy answer back. I'm about to pull my hair out with this one!!In my flash site I have one main swf that is preloaded using:
If i add a preloader code inside the same fla which i have to load. then it takes some time to load its library content first and then it starts loading the other things in Flash.But normal preloader code will not show loading of its library content. So any body have any idea how to make that without loading via other file. i have to add loader on the same file.
My main .swf file is 3 frames with the preloader residing in frame 1. I'm trying to get my preloader to skip frame 2 and jump straight to frame 3 if it's already cached... otherwise, go to and stop at frame 2 if it has not.
Why would I want it to do that? I have a little movie clip on frame 2 that lets the user know that loading is complete but I'm noticing it's always popping up everytime the movie is run -- I only want that movie clip on frame 2 to appear when it's loaded for the very first time. I've been using this code so far:
[Code]...
I'm guessing my problem is that it'll never skip frame 2 and always go to frame 2 followed by 3 regardless because both arguments eventually reach a fully loaded state. I thought about using somekind of loop but not exactly sure how that would solve things.
I've been working on a site where swf's are loaded into main movie with transitions between the sections. I have the following code on the mcContainer...

I used this code as a preloader on a site a made a few months ago.I'm trying to use it again in a wordpress template using PHP and it's not working.The movies loads, but doesn't load the main .swf??why this would work on one site and not another? Is it a PHP conflict?
var l:Loader = new Loader();l.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(ProgressEvent.PROGRESS, loop);l.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, done);l.load(new URLRequest("ns_headermovie.swf"));
I have this code in frame 1 [code]In frame 2 the animation/flash application starts.The preloader works fine BUT when it gets to frame 2 it stops. I cannot get it to start. I think it is a simple issue but I cannot see it.
I want to call a function in main flex app from the custom preloader code in actionscript before it dispatches complete event. Also i want to know how to call back to a function in preloader code from application
When importing external swf's, would it be better to have the preloader code in the external swf or in the main movie? I've seen threads about this everywhere but I don't see the difference. Once the movie pops in it starts preloading right? Is there a faster result when the preloader is in the main movie?
