How can i get a single value extracted from a XML where i have this value several times?
consider this

I want a code that output to me the result in <cnode> for example but just one time.
If i do "Xml.node.cnode;", the output will be

I am creating a game in Flash 8 with AS 2 and i have few questions to ask.First of all, i am stuck for 2 days at creating a Laser Beam from tower to the target.I searched all internet for solutions but i can't really find one, so i'll try posting questions myself..First i tryed to create and effectHolder into which every laser beam was created, because it seems i can create only one line in each movieClip.[code]This was triggered eveytime it had a target.With every tower that fired a laser i created it was getting more lag, so i tryed selfdestructing after few time.[code]The problem is that i didn't know how to pass the coordonates of the tower and the target to the MovieClip so it knows where to create the line.[code]how to create that line ("laser beam") for each tower, without lagging so much.

as you can see you have these type tags (either on page level, or sub page level).what i need is to find any repeated values (regardless of level) and append counter to those which repeat.So in this example 'corn' repeats 3 times, 'tomato' 2 times.I want this values to be changes in:
corn, corn_02, corn_03
tomato, tomato_02
so append counter to ones that repeat in order.

What I'm trying to do is to send a notification to the server every five seconds, to indicate progress. I can round the seconds down to nearest integer using Math.floor. Then I can use modulus to get every fifth second. What I'm not seeing is how not to send a repeat for (e.g.) 5, since 5.02, 5.15, 5.36 etc. will all qualify.

I'm an interior architect at a small architecture firm and I have been tasked with updating the firms website. I have no prior experience with flash, but have been able to learn enough to update all expcept for the portfolio section. For some reason, when I add three additional frames to the portfolio gallery timeline, it repeats the previous three frames before playing the new three. This happens only when I publish the file, when I run the timeline and view it on the stage everything appears fine.

I want to know why my update doesn't populate local Sqlite database. Yesterday with few records in database application worked correctly. Today after inserting another 10 records. I need to be able to use param value out of the function, because a I need to perform a switch with this value, since the function wich receives de param value is an anonymous function I dont know how to do to get the value from outside the function because a dont have a reference name to the function so, the normal way to return a value is not going to do the job.
SlideTitles.text is an input field. I want the user to enter the titles in in this format

Calling the slides whatever they want, and they can have as many as they want.
I need to able to split them values up and put them into a string array. (after they submit them)
so it would end up being myStringArray = ("slide one", "slide two", "slide three")
so far i'm failing. I did do a bit of searching around but couldn't find anyone doing this same thing.
I've tried myStringArray = (textfieldsxx)
and then setting the value of textfieldsxx to equal the slideTitles.text... but then it just ends up as 1 value in the array, no matter what format i write it in... i'm still a learner with arrays

When i look at the callstack array returned by the function in as3,I recieve only the success/fail part.The array length is 1, true, and contains none of my return values.
I'm developing using Actionscript 3.0 for Flash Player 10.3.I'm using computeSpectrum() on a loaded .mp3. Running *Event.ENTER_FRAME* to get snapshots of each sample in an byteArray.The ByteArray contains 512 values (256 for each channel). These values are FFT Spectrum, ranging from 0 to 1.I can't use the peak frequency for each of the samples (as I found found out!) because the highest value is not necessarily the fundamental frequency. As a result I'm getting lots of random values all over the place.Of course I'm getting some correct too, but that's not enough.

I trying to populate a combobox from a .php file and return the values of the selection. I have the .php set up to where it outputs something like

after you click the dropdown arrow..How would I get it to return a the numerical value for the artist (ex: anartist would be "0" since it is first in the list) and put it into a variable so that when it is selected it could be placed into an eval() function to create a variable such as "albumcover0" to be loaded through a function. I have been reading tutorials for hours to no avail.I want a single function to produce the number from the selected artist and place it into a variable, then go through all of the loadImage(for the "album image") etc functions..they will be functions that I have made already previously and call all of them with the number in the called fuctions (ex: loadImage(0)) where "0" is the number derived from the variable out of the combo box.Ive tried tons of tutorials, I think that it has something to do with me using flash mx 2004, and as2 turned on.
I'm trying to make a login function that receives the username and password as arguments, does all the proper URLRequest and URLLoader stuff inside it, and retrieves some values from the database. Then, it puts those values inside an object (a little associative array really) and returns them. I've put 'trace' sentences all over the function, and it seems to be working without a problem and is retrieving the right values from the database. At the moment I am working at a script that allows you to press a button and then go to a specified frame, on that frame there is also a button that goes to another frame and so on.Now I have a script that works at the first frame. But as soon as I come to frame 2 and I click on a button it doesn't do anything.Oh and also, at the moment I have 3 frames in the stage. The first button is a movie clip and goes to frame 2. The second button is just a button and is supposed to go to frame 3.[code]
