I am using different keyframes in my document to represent different pages on my website. However, when I change the document length, this changes all of the pages. How do I give each page a different size? I want some pages to be longer as I add more content to those pages.I'm sing CS4, flash 9, and action script 3

View 3 RepliesI'm trying to track one of my characters as it moves across my stage, however it seems that samuraiChar's (my character) x position has a much higher decimal rounding system in place rounding to maybe 8 decimals where as the over object that I'm trying to track with it has only a 2 d.p rounding system. Can someone explain to me why this is and how I can fix it, also I may be wrong I'm not 100% sure if this is the problem.

I'm looking to compare the lengths of several arrays in a conditional loop to make sure they all have the same length. At the moment there are only three arrays which can be bodged with an && operator in the conditional, but I want something more elegant and expandable.

I'm a bit of a newb when it comes to Actionscript 3. Basically I have a movie that a different frames I need it to pause for different lengths of time. So for example on frame 10 I want it to wait 10 seconds before continuing to play and then on frame 20 I want it to wait 8 seconds before moving on, etc. I found some code that I put on frame 10 and it worked fine, but when I tried to put it on frame 20 it generated errors and it didn't pause:

Can someone recommend how to place array1, array2, array3, and array4 into x1, y1, x2, y2 (respectively) when the length of array1 and array2 do not equal that of array3 and array4? Or, equivalent outcome.
I'm assuming everything has to come in through dataSet, but I wonder if it's possible to simply reference array1 (etc.) directly from <mx:LineChart ...> or <mx:LineSeries ...> somehow, to avoid wasting memory on an unnecessary array (e.g. dataSet).
I want to load random movie clips into an area... kind of like ads. but each of them is a different length, so at the end of whatever clip, it has to be able to move onto another randomly loaded clip.
and for the kicker... it'd be nice to be able to add a button of some kind on the individual "ads" that will allow the user to skip to another randomly loaded ad as if that ad had reached the end of it's time.
i'm trying to build a flash site and ran into a problem... i have a gallery page with a bunch of page numbers at the top. when you click on one, a movieclip loads of some images coming in.so the problem i'm having is that i made a little animation for when you roll the mouse over the page number (they scale up when the mouse is over, scale back when the cursor moves away)... what it's doing is when you roll over, it goes to a certain frame in the timeline and plays that animation.that's all working cool, but i need it to not do that once it's clicked on. so basically when you actually click on a page number, the over script should stop until you go to another page... here's the code i've written,

I have a master page and a child page and have placed the javascript code inside the child page for flash movie.
The problem is the movie seems working when there is a alert on, without at least one alert msg, the code does not work, I am sure you people can solve, I can see that the following code works well in both Mozilla and IE, but only if the alert is ON, if I put it off, then the code does not work. Can anybody tell me what is the workaround :

When i zoom into the page then move around the edge of the page can be moved past the edge of the browser window showing the static page which appears at the start of the document. Is it possible to use actionscript to stop the page being dragged past a certain point so the static page is not seen? On the example below the static page is white so it does not pose too much of a problem however im using the static page as a sort of instruction page and it looks a bit rubbish if the user drags a page past the edge of the view window and see's the original page. Unfortunately it won't work to have the preloader loading at the top while the rest of the html below is visible — it will end up looking like the top navigation is cut off, as the top 10 pixels of the nav bar is actually in the swf header (fully loaded it will look contiguous)Is there a way to preload it in one html page and then once it's loaded into the cache automatically jump to the page with the big swf?

View 4 RepliesI have a site where all the pages have a common SWF embedded at the top (Nav and banner), but the rest of the page is HTML.Everything is working fine, but I'm finding the 'independence' between the HTML and Flash is making for some sloppy transitions from page to page.I was expecting the SWF to be delayed, at least for the first page visit(and I have a preload routine inside the swf to make it's delay and appearance a bit more visually pleasant), but was surprised to sometimes find the SWF appearing and playing while the HTML content was delayed (resulting in a SWF floating in black).What I'm wondering is if there's a way I can do some sort of preload on my index page.BUT, not the standard one that I'm sure everyone would suggest (like the javascript image 'preload', or the newer 'css visibility' preload trick). The problem with the standard one is that it doesn't check to see if everything is loaded.What I'm after is a routine on my index page that invisibly loads some of the elements from my inner pages (common swf, maybe some of the images) and WAITS until it's done before moving to the inner pages (displaying the company logo and/or a load status in the meantime).Many people would suggest a preloader inside the common SWF on my inner pages (which I have), but the problem with that on its own is that it doesn't stop the HTML from displaying.
I'm trying to figure out a way to do a preloader (like those in a SWF, which loops until everything is loaded) that controls both the SWF AND the HTML.Recently, I found that you can use one swf to preload another, which would be a potential solution, as I could make an SWF on the index page whose sole purpose is to load (invisibly) the common SWF, displaying the load status and then loading an inner html page once it's done.Problem is, I have bee having trouble finding the coding for that, as most searches for preloaders end up being about standard preloaders, where it's monitoring the same SWF that the code is on, as opposed to controlling a second, external SWF.Can someone point me to or provide me with the proper coding/procedure for a preloader that controlls a second external swf or give me a better solution?

I have a project for a site that sells fishing lures.I want to have an animated index page before moving on to the home page. My idea is to have a boat sitting on a pond fishing lines in the water, when a fish jumps out of the water, the water ripples, the next time you see the fish it's got a hook in it mouth and jumping out of the water.how do I go about it? How to I create the water rippling? I think with the fish I can do easily enough with it jumping on and off stage. Would I do the water with shape tweens?
