I'm still learning how to use Flash... and am still struggling on one thing. It may seem simple to the most of you -- how exactly do you have the content displayed once you click the button? I'm attempting to have the content for each navigation link button to show up each time it's clicked. Still a failure.

As the items are highlighted, the audio will play (to explain the animation). because we are creating this for people with possible disabilities, we also created captions with text for the audio. So, in separate layers, we created speech bubbles and text that is synchronized to the animated actions on the screen. this will also be synchronized with the audio. We want to have a button (close captioning button) that when users press it, they see the text captions and if they press it again, they don't see the text captions. my questions are
1) what will be the easiest way to create the effect i am looking for?
2) what actionscript command will i need for the button's actions?
I am new to action script, please help! I have three buttons and when you click on them, new content appears. However, I'd like to make it so that when you click on a button, the content on the screen will reverse itself, disappear, and the new content for that button would appear. I don't know how to do this with action script? What kind of action script could I use?
View 5 Repliesi have a menu, that works with a xml file.the xml has the specific code that triggers the .as file:[code]when i press the button home for example, the home will load...then i press the button about, and it loads as well, but the home still playing on the back.how do i make the content for home to disapear when another button is clicked? because the code works for all the buttons, it has to be something generic that would work for the event of anybutton being clicked.
View 23 RepliesI want to create a flash site where I have a long horizontal movie clip split into about five sections, each about 960px wide. The effect I want to achieve is when the user clicks on the button it will scroll horizontally to the specific section of the flash project. For example, if your on the home page and you click on the contact the movieclip will tween to the right until it reached the contact section of the long movieclip. And I also want it where if the user clicks on the home it'll scroll back to the home page. I can't seem to accomplish. I tried positioning with the x property and move right so many pixels. I'm thinking about setting like some coordinates or some kinds of reference points so when the button is clicked it will go to those specific points in the stage.

I'm using Mac Chrome 8.0.552.237 It seems like whenever I embed flash content in html and open it in chrome when my flash content requests camera access and i need to click "allow" button in the dialog it never recognizes the click. It works fine in firefox. I just simply can't understand why it wont work in chrome. I use swfobject, and i used [URL] to make the html code just to make sure i wasn't making any mistakes.

I have 4 navigation button and like home, about us etc.... And i want to disable home when it is click and cannot clicked it until the user click another button first. means if a visitor is at home page then home navigation is disabled, and all other are active, and when they click at aboutus button then the pages goes to the about us page and the about us button is disabled and other get active. View 6 RepliesI've got about 6 buttons laid out, one on top of the other in a list format. In their normal state the buttons are grey in colour, when I rollover them, the buttons flash and turn to orange. Now, what I need to happen is this: I want the buttons to stay orange once clicked and only roll out back to grey when the user has clicked on another button in the list. I've been told that the best way to do this is via adding a listener, however I am a little unsure as to how to go about this. I've checked the flash help file and have a basic understanding of how listeners work...but can't really wrap my head around applying it to this situation. Perhaps I will need to have all the buttons as separate broadcasters?

The rollover and rollout animations play flawlessly, but I'm at a loss as to how to give each button a sticky "active" state. I'm have made some buttons (movie clip) and when I click on it, I want a file (home.swf) to load in a loader (mx.contents.loader) and I want the other buttons to do the same, all load into the same loader. I have no Idea how to do that. The way I have it set up now, the home.swf will load over the entire screen and that is not what I want. I just want the content to load into the loader and have its content change once I click on the other buttons. Here is a copy and past of that I have at the moment, I'm using Flash 8 to do it all.

I would like to create a component(extending from spark Panel), which upon a buttonclick should show up next to the button(something like a bubble popping up or like the small box opening up when hovering up on profile links in facebook/twitter). I tried to create a component that implements mx.core.IToolTip and provided the methods required by the interface. And on the toolTipCreate event, set this component as the tooltip.
This works to an extent. When I bring the mouse over the button, the panel appears as the tooltip and goes away when i move the mouse away. What I need is, the panel should appear next to the button when click on it and should go away only when I click outside the panel or click the close button present inside the panel.
I have a flash clip that moves a movieclip when the mouse is clicked on the movieclip. Something very basic. I'm not using drag (since the MC doesn't move with the mouse all the time), but rather using onMouseMove to update the MC location according to _xmouse, _ymouse and some other calculations. The problem was that under internet explorer the movement became very slow and if I kept moving the mouse slowly, it wouldn't update until I stopped. I checked the traces and the event was triggered properly. I tried using updateAfterEvent(); This didn't happen in firefox. (After a long, frustrating debugging I eventually found out what caused this. Since I've looked for the answer online and didn't find one, I've decided to add it here for others.)

i have given 3 functions as onEnterFrame,onPress,onRelease. i tried all these but didnt get the result.smile1,smile2,smile3 are button instances which are declared on the monie clip.my main thing is i hav a button, when i click on that button it should go the next frame which i have declared in "gotoAndPlay(6)" method.
Anyway what I need to do is have a movie clip finish playing when a button is clicked and then go to the frame label associated with the button. I hope I'm explaining myself ok. So if I had say 4 buttons Home Gallery About Contact If Contact is clicked then I want the Home page to play (Which is a fade out) and then go to Contact Page (which will fade in). I want to make a button (or graphic) active and visible if another button is clicked. But it must be invisible and unclickable before the other button is clicked. (this is a "find the differences between the 2 pictures game" and I want circles to appear over the differences that the user finds but only after he clicks it)
The button (or graphic) I want to become active has instance name of "sockcircle_btn" The button you click to make it appear is called "sock_btn"

The file is setup to loop between frames 2-3. But the sockcircle_btn never enables even when sock_btn is clicked.
Pretend a button is selected - when that button is selected it goes to the active frame which shows that the button is selected. When you click another button it currently resets itself - BUT - I want it to go to and play frame "mouse_out" and than reset itself. Below is the code I am currently working wtih:

Long story short, I'm developing a theme template for a blog that enables you to view the posts in blocks. The main part of the post is displayed at first, then the secondary content is displayed over that when you hover over the post block. Everything works fine on a Mac Versions of all major browsers, but start browsing on a PC, and all hell breaks loose when you start trying to display content over Flash Video embeds. The flash element remains visible over the content. It's completely unusable.
From a PC, you can view an example of the problem here: [URL] I'm almost certain this is a bug in the Flash Plugin for Windows, but I was wondering if anyone else had come across this problem before, and if there were any solutions.
I have XML pages with some defined structure , now using flex I want to display the content of these pages. The purpose of using Flex is to give better look. If I can use something else which will provide a good UI to display then also its fine.

The file which is getting read is a log file which gets updated at regular interval. The issue is once some content read by AS then it is not getting updated that means after every execution of the function content of src variable below remains same even thou the source file is updated.
