Actionscript 3 :: Flex - Display A Panel At The Point Where Mouse Is Clicked?

I would like to create a component(extending from spark Panel), which upon a buttonclick should show up next to the button(something like a bubble popping up or like the small box opening up when hovering up on profile links in facebook/twitter). I tried to create a component that implements mx.core.IToolTip and provided the methods required by the interface. And on the toolTipCreate event, set this component as the tooltip.
This works to an extent. When I bring the mouse over the button, the panel appears as the tooltip and goes away when i move the mouse away. What I need is, the panel should appear next to the button when click on it and should go away only when I click outside the panel or click the close button present inside the panel.
There is an Image control that when I click on it I need to zoom in (using the center/transform point where the mouse is clicked). I have the zoom transition working great, but when I set transformX & tranformY (with autoCenterTransform false) it doesn't zoom into that point.

I'm trying to Resize a panel using a Resize Effect using its center as the anchor point. I've been googling for some information and the only thing I have found is to set the horizontalCenter and verticalCenter to 0, but this is not working for me. The panel keeps resizing from top/left corner.
I have a flash clip that moves a movieclip when the mouse is clicked on the movieclip. Something very basic. I'm not using drag (since the MC doesn't move with the mouse all the time), but rather using onMouseMove to update the MC location according to _xmouse, _ymouse and some other calculations. The problem was that under internet explorer the movement became very slow and if I kept moving the mouse slowly, it wouldn't update until I stopped. I checked the traces and the event was triggered properly. I tried using updateAfterEvent(); This didn't happen in firefox. (After a long, frustrating debugging I eventually found out what caused this. Since I've looked for the answer online and didn't find one, I've decided to add it here for others.)
I am using this collapsible panel - link. Unfortunately, I have a problem using it with application states. I have a state where this panel is visible, when I switch to this state, this panel shows, when I click on it, it opens and its content shows. If I switch to another state (this panel is removed from display), and then switch back to the previous state, the collapsible panel stays open, but its content disappears. In other words, the collapsible panel's content doesn't persist through states. Anyone know what the problem is? Or is there another collapsible panel that can work around this issue?
I am trying to use Flex Video Display as a preview player. The player is streaming the video from the server.While The buffering is not complete, if we try to drag the play head to an area beyond buffered region, the player will drag the playhead back to the current playing position. I need to implement the player like you tube video player which allows to drag to anywhere in the track even when data is not fully buffered.Is there a way for doing this.

I have a map in a panel.When maximizing the panel,the map remain the smaller size.How to make the map growing synchronizely with the Panel? When maximizing the Panel,I added Resize Effects.How to apply Resize effects on the Map when the extent of the map changing? It seems to me that I should dispatch extentChange event when maximizing the panel.
I discovered this while doing some programmatic panel resizing:Components in a spark Panel will still be visible when their location is outside the physical Panel boundaries. This does not happen with the mx Panel.unning Flex 4.1 on Windows 7I tried putting mx and spark controls in the spark Panel, and they both appear outside of the boundaries. I've traced the PopUpManager, but I didn't find any available interfaces or events about popup window's moving, I think it's design shouldn't be so bad.
From the Robert Penner code given in this tutorial: [URL] i was wondering why controlx and controly has to be so complicated. I've tried changing it to just _root._xmouse but it messes up. I don't get this, shouldn't the curve point be the same point as the mouse?
Given this grid (tinyurl.com/63dgoja --> This is a trapezium/trapezoid, not a square), how do you find the point clicked by the user? I.e. When the user clicks a point in the grid, it should return the coordinates like A1 or D5.
In flex, when I put the mouse over a field that is not valid, a red popup appears which indicate the error message. By default, it's rounded by red.
Is it possible to display the red popup by default without mouse over it? because sometimes the red box is not clear enough and we have impression that the program is stuk
On both my work and home computers I have this problem where the font in the action panel gets all screwed up and the ends of words get cut off even though the text is there and working. Anyone have an idea on how to fix it? Both computers are Macs running 10.5.5 and Adobe Flash CS3. See below for an example
I've created a video player using the flv component. I have images of cue points. The user should be able to click on an image and the video should skip or start at that cue point
I have a client who wants some things in Papervision that I'm not sure how to do, namely: when the user clicks somewhere on a model, zoom the camera into that point.
I would use a tween engine to tween the camera forward, but as moveForward is a method, I'm not sure how I'd enter this data into a tweening call.
i'm trying to zoom in on a picture at the specific spot where the mouse is clicked. ie if the mouse is clicked in the lower left corner, the pic gets bigger from there, not the center of the pic. the only way i can think of to do this is to reset the registration point to the clicked position. is this possible? is there another way to go the job done?
im having a bit of an issue with making a character walk to a position when the area is clicked (but i dont want them to move on the y scale, just the x). i dont want them to instantly move, i want them to (flip over if necessary) and play their walking animation as they walk to the clicked position.
I am basically trying to create a display object transformation manager which will allow me to scale/rotate objects. I am currently trying to figure out how to rotate an object so its corner follows the current x and y of the mouse. I always get confused on the math of things like this. I know how to listen for the events and everything, I just am unsure of how to calculate the amount of rotation to apply. I will probably be rotating via a Matrix so I can rotate the object around its center, rather than the upper-left corner of it. My question here is: how do I get values when I don't want them constrained, like scaleX and scaleY?

I need to display a custom tooltip for each rectange when the mouse cursor is hovering over it.
How can I do this? I'm using the MouseMove event to track when the cursor moves over these coordinates (that part is working), but when I change the tooltip text it's not refreshing

EDIT: The problem seems to be with the following line:
ToolTipManager.destroyToolTip(_myToolTip);
If I comment out the preceding line, it will display the new tooltip, but it will keep creating new ones and the old ones never get removed. But if I add that line, it doesn't add any tooltips! Is the code not being executed sequentially, i.e., is the code to remove the tooltip somehow getting executed after the code to add the tooltip?

I would like to show a dataTip on a flex chart by setting the selectedIndex property of the AreaSeries. For instance, if selectedIndex = 2, then a dataTip appears over the third item in the series. Is this possible in Flex 3.5? .
I watched the very useful Custom Panel Extension tutorial. But the tutorial doesn't show how to get data such as info about my current selection back to my custom panel. MMExecute seems like a one way street.
Specifically, I want to display a selection's X and Y position in the custom panel. How do I call fl.getDocumentDOM().getSelectionRect() in such a way that the results are accessible to the panel?
Im having an odd problem--I have 5 input textfields on the stage, but for some reason when run in order to input text within the first two fields I have to click within those fields from around its middle all the way to the right.Otherwise, no caret shows up and no typing displays.The other fields all work fine--ie, I can click at their leftmost point and get a caret and start typing..I even used the same textfield(#3) to create fields 1 and 2 and still I have to click about midway or to the right to get the caret.
I am unable to click on "Allow" button in my Adobe Flash Player Settings panel that pop's up because half of it is hidden behind divs making it "unclickable".I tried setting negative z-indices on the divs that are overlaying it and I also tried giving a prositive z-index to the div holding the Flash Player Settings panel
Man I do hope adobe is going to add a simple resize area on the top corners of the AS window (or indeed any floating window)...at the moment, my AS window stretches down and off-screen for whatever reason and I find myself stuck trying to scale it back down. scrolling doesn't even work inside this floating window (on vista x64)A workaround (if you can call it that), I've noticed from *having* to play around (while I should have been working) to try and get the window back to a normal workable/visable size.)Right-click on the floating window (tab) in question and "Collapse to Icons", then click that specific icon to open the window to a managable size.Adobe, please add the resize to the top left, right or both of floating windows.
I want to handle the mouseevents for all the sprites on the stage including the one those are hidden behind (or overlapped or occluded) and the main condition is that I want to handle the occluded sprite (that hidden behind other sprite). example, say I have sprite1 and sprite2 on stage and I want to start drag whenever i click on the sprite and stop drag after another click.
This can be done easily, but the problem and my main requirement is that if I drag the sprite1 and drop it exactly on top of the sprite2 then sprite2 will be hidden behind the sprite1 I wont be able to drag the sprite2 without moving the sprite1 first. if you have played zynga's empires and allais game on facebook, it is handled seperatly, it is how it works in that game, the mouse event is triggered on the sprite behind the overlapping sprite, if you have two sprites overlapping one sprite than the mouse event is triggered on the sprite which is last and not the one in front irrespective of whether there is only one sprite overlapping or two or three and this happens to irregular shaped sprites (not just rectangles)
I made a flash website with photo galleries using a component that I bought online. The component is loading the image in a thumbnail scroll bar via a XML file and the full size image display in a UILoader. So far nothing special. But when I reach a certain amount of pictures in the gallery, the scroll panel get stuck while loading and doesn't display the full size image. Then the thumbnails don't react at all.
