how can I hide an element in Flash Builder? I can do visible=false but the element is still there (other buttons are not centered). I'm looking for display:none style property.

I need to run some code when a panel is destroyed. The code is simple, I have some Background tasks while it is opened, but need to stop them when closed.
I have a Close button for the panel, and I stop the BG Tasks when the user wants to close the panel, the problem is that they have access to a top menu bar too and can jump to another application module/part throught it, so, the user can exit the panel (when exiting, the panel is automatically destroyed) but the panel close event code is not executed because the close button was not pressed.
One solution could be to inherit from panel and add a post step method that is called when swapping modules, etc... So, if the user wants to move to another place through the menu bar, my system will first call sometihng like PreEnd() method on the panel and everything will be solved. But, is there any event that I could catch from the panel when it is destroyed to accomplish this? I have been checking the documentation but couldn't find anything useful to achieve what I explain.
Is it possible to show or hide a comboBox based off the selection made in another comboBox. I have been looking for documentation on this to no avail.

When I change the value of true to false all the other pages where I want the drop down to appear also disappear.I want other pages to have sub menu but not the home page. I have tried to change the xml path etc, but nothing seems to wor am new to xml and finding this very challenging.I have uploaded the config.xml and the layout xml's. I have also placed the index.htm and js script therelso me understand from where it is reading the config.xml.UPDATE:I checked the SWF and yes the it is pointing to the config file. What I still dont understand is that how can i remove the sub-menu from home while keeping it for other pages.

View 2 RepliesI am extending TextField to create my own implementation of it, and there are some properties & methods I would like to simply remove from use, eg:

I would like now to hide setTextFormat from code hinting, so when, in some other class, I type:

And hit ctrl+space I only see setPropertyIsEnumerable(...) and setSelection(...), no trace of setTextFormat(...). But no matter what I do it still appears, I tried @private metatag in asdoc, as well as some made-up (like @remove, @disable, @ignore, @deprecated). Using [Exlude] doesn't work either as, afaik, it works only with mxml. Is there some way to actually accomplish this task? Or am I forever left with useless and redundant code? Some plugin maybe? (I know I can just leave it as is and don't double methods, but, nevertheless, I'd rather have it my way)
In a Flex Project, whenever there's an error, I fill in the error data into a hidden TextInput then show the control to the user. I want to make it so that after showing the TextInput, it will automatically hide itself after some time with a fade effect.

Bottom line is I don't always need to peer into SWC's, and I don't like having a 'default package' automatically created for me. Not sure why the interface wasn't made simpler, allowing access to more power and complexity only if necessary. I want to focus on the code, not on how to navigate and use the bells and whistles in the coding environment.
I just upgraded to Flash Builder 4 (beta 2) from Flex Builder 3 which I have been using since it came out. Problem: All the projects that were in my workspace from Flex Builder 3 did not carry over into Flash Builder 4 (e.g. in the "Flex Navigator" view if FB3). Flash Builder 4 now uses the .FXP format to manage projects, but Flex Builder 3 did not. Is there an easy way to get all my projects back into Flash Builder 4?

View 1 RepliesI'm getting occasional ConcurrencyError faults when using HTTPService in Flex 3. I have four HTTPService objects, all configured with concurrency=single. I'm not sure though how to continue to diagnose, as I don't see in the FaultEvent what service object caused the issue, and I can't easily reproduce it on-demand.
One feature of my app is that I am also using a URLRequest to load a sound shortly after receiving a result from one of the HTTPService calls. Could this be related to the concurrency error?
The fault looks like this:

After upgrading the Flex SDK from 3.1 to any newer version of the SDK and trying to compile an existing project, the following error appears in the Problems pane:

I have a datagrid which has id="myGrid" in my application, from it I call a component. Now from the component I can call parentDocument.myGrid.selectedIndex = 0; and it works fine.But I want to make the component reusable, and I would like to pass the ID to the component each time, so myGrid will change, how to properly send the ID to the component, and use it in the component?

I have a modal Flex dialog and want to make the background not of the window itself, but the semitransparent modal indicator transparent. (Yes I tried to convince the client they don't want to do this, but apparently they really want to do it). Please let me know what approach should i take to do that. can i call a Java method on donload button which will insert a row in the table and and then get the count and render it to the count variable in my flash?

When setting up a source control repository for a Flex Builder workspace, what do you consider to be worth checking in? Do you exclude the workspace .metadata folder but keep the .project and other project specific files? Keep both? Throw away both? I have a CircleItemRenderer, but this shows all of the datapoints in the default stroke and fill. 1) How do I customize the display of my CircleItemRenderer? (instead of it having an orange fill, how can I change the color?

I have a problem with inline components. I want to reach an inline component from another one.. From the first component, i want to change "enable" value of the linkbutton named "Add" which is in second component. Altough i gave "id" and "className" to second one, i could reach neither it nor its elements.. is there a way to do this?

From a video on AdobeTV, I tried to play with example empWeb (LiveCycle Data Services).In Flex Builder 3 (FB3) everything works fine. When I tried this on Flash Builder 4.0 Beta (FB4) it doesn't work. When I replaced original xmlns declarations (2009, spark, halo)with declarations from FB3 (2006) it works. I can get the module loaded but I can not get the flash application to access any module functions. Here is how I load the module in Flash and the error I get. If I change the module to an application type swf then it loads and runs but now I have two applications on top of each other. I would like the loaded module swf to be able to have access the Flash stage object.

View 3 RepliesIn Flex3, I could compile pure as3 code and use "embed" tags to load in images. This was done by Flex making a BitmapAsset class.I can still do this in Flex4.
However, there was a trick to fakeout flex3 and use my own mx.core.BitmapAsset class to remove some of the extraneous stuff Flex's BitmapAsset brings in with it. This is described here: [URL]..Unfortunately, I cannot get these tricks to work with Flex4 and get smaller file sizes. I end up with the error "VerifyError: Error #1014: Class mx.core::BitmapAsset could not be found."[URL]..Following this advice, I add -static-link-runtime-shared-libraries=true, and my swf loads without an error... but this means I am loading in the pieces of the flex framework I wanted to omit (and the file size says so too).

I have a flex3 component(US heat Map) which accepts a arrayCollection (state and value pairs). I need to create a webdynpro wrapper for this to use in Visual Composer 7.2.
What I am trying to do is migrate the flex components I made for Visual Composer 7.0 (using a VCXL wrapper) to Visual Composer 7.2 using web Dynpro. I have managed to migrate components which require simple input data types like integer or string, but I am stuck at those which require complex structures like an array collection.
I just got CS5 master suite which includes Flash Builder 4 and Flash CS5 Pro. When I create a new AIR app in CS5 pro it says "AIR 2" but when I create a new AIR project in Flash Builder I do not see anything indicating that it is AIR 2 or 1.5?
Is there a way to tell which AIR runtime it is using?
