Flash :: Photoshop Freeze Temporarily During Save?

I am using Flash and Photoshop CS5 for a college (HND) project (by which I mean, a single document for a Flash portfolio) and, Flash in particular, they keep appearing to freeze (i.e. they temporarily show as "Not Responding") whenever I save and take forever to save. My computer is quite low spec. (I intend to get another high-spec one but until that point) and possibly insufficient for what I am trying to run. However, I have only recently started having this problem and the saving is so slow that it is hampering my development of the project..
Is there at least a short-term solution to this? I really need to get on with the project and I can't when it's running like this. Flash also occasionally crashes so I can't risk not saving it regularly as I could lose work.

Short Answer: Yes, FullScreenEvent temporarily adds 1 child to the stage. Long Rant: Well how about that.. I'm not crazy.. I don't know if this is documented but - it's true. That little message that pops up saying 'you can press esc to exit full-screen' adds a single child to the stage temporarily and keeps it on the top level until it fades out. The sudden intrusion of indexes really messed me up.. so there's my answer, I guess. Now i just need to figure out how to get around this slight annoyance.

Now, bear in mind i'm not ruling out that my code is faulty because that's more than likely the case, but after pondering for ages and coming up empty handed, I keep getting a little superstitious that flash is playing tricks on me and that the 'little message' is not independent and is actually added to the display list..
Does anybody know if I'm just imagining things? or is the 'press esc' message a part of my swf on the display list?

I have SWF files that I load into my flash movie and those SWF files sometimes have mouse events that can interfere with dialogs and buttons in my flash movie. I'd like to temporarily disable the loaded SWFs mouse event handlers or block them from having any effects on my flash movie. My flash movie is AS 2.

we'd made a flash site which was working fine on normal pc and mac and on all kind of browsers, but we discovered if the pc has no sound card, the flash will freeze after loaded, we tried some other flash sites, some of them also cannot run without a sound card but some can, is there any script we need to add to avoid this problem?

I have the newest firefox and the flash debug version. Whenever there is an flash error happen, the error message window popup, and then my firefox freeze immediately. It seems like the problem only happen on debug version of flash. I searched online, people said change the Code:dom.ipc.plugins.timeoutSecs to -1 will fix the problem, but I tried, it doesn't really fix it. Anyone know anything I could try to fix it?

When my Flash website loads, it freezes halfway through the initial animation for 2-3 seconds and then continues. Am thinking it is one of the scripts in index.html and have tried all sorts of ways to correct it -[code]...

I am using Ubuntu 10.10 on my IBM X200t. Installed is the standard flash player plugin for Firefox: (flashplugin-nonfree, 10.1.102.65). Everytime I switch a flash video to fullscreen, the video freezes. However, the video continues to play and I hear sound. How can I fix this?

I have flash resizing it's container div by using external interface to call the javascript:[code]Now this appears to work fine in every browser except chrome. For some reason after the div is shrunk back down to size, the flash player looks like it's frozen. It's actually not frozen because if you resize the window the flash player starts playing again and you can see it had made progress since it appeared frozen. This only happens in chrome. I am developing a product for schools including flash animations - swf files written in AS3 - for insert/embed into PowerPoint slideshows. Hundreds of customers are waiting. It is all working apart from one problem: when inserted/embedded in PowerPoint 2007 slideshows my animations freeze (sometimes) when you leave and return to a PowerPoint slide containing them.
I have found that when you show a PP2007 slide containing a flash movie, move on to the next slide and then return, (sometimes) the time-related Events (ENTER_FRAME, TIMER etc) have stopped being dispatched to AS3 code by Flash Player, freezing animations. Other Events such as MOUSE_MOVE, KEY_DOWN etc are dispatched to AS3 in random bursts. I have created a small flash program and PowerPoint slideshow to demonstrate the problem and put them on the web at: [URL].

I am running Window 7 64 bit with 6 gb of RAM, two E5520 Xeons, two 10k raptors, one 320gb HD, and a ATI FirePro V5700. Brand New machine and a Fresh install of windows.
Everytime Photoshop CS4 is open it will cause Flash Cs4 to Crash. I can work in Flash without any issues until Photoshop is opened. Flash will usually crash in under 5 min with Photoshop open. I have tested this over and over and it is Photoshop causing Flash to crash. Does not matter whether I am running the 32 or 64 bit version of Photoshop. I am starting to believe it is a memory issue but I am not sure or how to fix if it is.I have tested the memory and it passed all tests. This is really killing my production time.

am using Flash CS5 and Photoshop CS3. The issue I am facing is while exporting from photoshop (optimized for web and devices) as png-24 , most of the images lose their quality inside flash. I have tried to make the publish settings for image quality 100. On lossless compression of the images, the image gets blurry. The total quality of display is highly degraded in flash in comparison to that of photoshop

Well I have been having a major problem for the past four days. I imported 1 photoshop file into flash, everything was okay. I tried to import the others and an error message appeared stating that flash has crashed and has to close unexpectedly. I've re-installed flash and it does the same thing- so I know that isn't the issue. I have used other computers and it is still the same. I have been racking my brain everyday trying to figure it out. I checked the file sizes and they aren't that big and I compared them to other photoshop files I've imported and they are roughly the same size.
Also other photoshop files import, but the ones I actually want to use do not work at all. There is no way I'm re-designing 10 photoshop files!!
By the way when I saved some of the PSD files there was no extensions on the files, so I had to add them afterwards.

I just put together a banner image in photoshop that I would like to import into Flash and put a small navigation menu at the bottom but whenever I use the import to stage feature I am getting a large amount of discoloration in the image. I've tried saving it as a .tif and .png but both came out looking poor. Attached is an image to show what I mean.

I am creating a plug-in for photoshop using javascript. I am trying to display a photo within my flash plugin window, but when I pass the address of the file to the mxml code, it uses a home directory indicator, and not a full file path.For example:C:Users***DesktopPicspicture_name.jpgis passed as ~DesktopPicspicture_name.jpgAnd the mxml can't find that file because it is not in full path format.

So, it is possible to import a psd file to flash and have it all positioned correctly, if the PSD file is set to "Maximize PSD File Compability", however, the files(layers) does not appear in the XFL save in the LIBRARY folder, and the alpha and quality is horrific probably because the layer is taken from the composite layer, and not the real layer in PSDok, no need to worry yet, all we want is the correct position, that would save a lot of time, lets export the file from photoshop with the script, "export layers to file", then import the files in flash to the files we already imported and replace them in the flash library, Now this is where the problem arise, the file in the library, has some 'special treatment' done to it, and it is still not saved in the LIBRARY folder in the XFL save. It looks perfect when the stage is set to 100%. But when I shrink the stage (even in the SWF), the quality of the image becomes choppy and the edges of objects become pixelated. Same thing with enlarging it. The publish setting JPG quality is set to 100%. How do I fix this? It's mostly the quality of shrinking it that I'm worried about; this image/flash will go on a webpage & I plan to have it automatically adjust its size based on the browser's size.I'm using Flash CS5 with Actionscript 3.0.

I have a layer in photoshop that is shaped like an triangle, and I want to make it so that in flash when I hover over it, it changes to an 'active' version that is brighter, however whenever I try to import the layer (I've tried saving it as .bmp, .png etc) I can get it to import without the background, but the imported file is still a square (the image size). Essentially I need just the exactly outline of the layer, which is a shape, versus the entire size of the image!

I have about 5 layer groups in Photoshop and in each of the groups/folders there are some layers with some text and other layers with isolated images and also layers with some layer styles. When I import this file into Flash I need each of the layer groups to be imported as a flattened bitmap image. I don't want any of the text to be editable or to have any of the layer styles intact. So if there are 5 layer groups in Photoshop, I just need five bitmap images in flash. I've tried doing this but it still imports the layers separately. I know I can flatten the groups in Photoshop but I want to keep this file editable.
