IDE :: CS5 File Size After Publishing
Jul 24, 2011I have published a swf file from the same FLA file, but the swf size was not the same. In my friend's computer it was 40kb, but after copying to my computer then publish, it was 45kb.

Feb 17, 2010Is there a way to publish or export a an SWF file to a different size? I created this swf a while ago and now I need to send it with a short portfolio but the swf is 22MB. Plus I have a few other swf's to send with it. Is there a way of exporting it to a different size to cut down on the size of the file?

Mar 28, 2010flash document is.. 1920 px by 1080 px, 1080p resolution for animation, standard stuff.When I go to export the stage as a PNG files, doesn't matter if I specify the resolution as 1920 by 1080 or click match movie, the exported png file is HUGE, the size to be exact is 8000 by 4500, why is this? I can't find a way to fix that.Secondly, it's not exporting the full stage, it seems to be cutting off most of the right side, see the image below.[URL]

Aug 22, 2009I have been using Flash for a while Flash 8 and now Flash 9 I dont know too much about the program, someone wrote the program for me and I update it. When ever I publish the Site to upload to my server I have to go into the HTML file and insert <center> twice to get the site to be center on the web.It is not a big deal to edit the HTML file but every time I do it I figure there must be some button i dont have checked in Flash to just do it automatically.Seems like with such a huge and powerful program that must be an option that I am missing.

Nov 9, 2011I have just completed a project and upon publishing it found the swf file to be bloated. I looked at the report found 411K to be Action Script and 10k to be EVERYTHING else! The key is that I did no coding at all. I used the standard motion tweens, but the project is very, very simple. I have one moving graphic and about 10 pieces of text fading/zooming in/out.

Nov 8, 2009Im working on my website which was from a template. Ive gotten pretty far and all of a sudden my FLA file isnt exporting to a SWF file. It doesnt let me test the movie either, it shows the progress bar then does nothing. Similar to this guys problem on another forum:It shows the file in the folder for a split second then disappears. I really dont know what to do and I dont want to continue working on the file if theres a problem.

May 10, 2009When I preview my flash file it says that the filesize is 29kb. However when I look at the properties of the outputted swf it's coming in a t 36kb. Which is the correct size? Also what extra information is being added to push it up by 7kb?

Jul 1, 2010I'm having an issue regarding the file size of the .swf file whenever I publish my flash game. Whenever I publish my flash, I get a .swf file that ranges from 2MB (with lots of run-time errors) to 6MB (no errors). This is completely inconsistent, and I get a different size .swf every time I publish. The run-time errors I get when I unluckily publish a .swf that is below 6MB are:
Error #1034: Type Coercion failed
#2022: Class x must inherit from y and
#1009: cannot access a property or method from null reference.
This inconsistent problem started emerging after I turned each .as file in my game into it's own class. Sometimes it works fine. Other times it blows up.
ActionScript 1/2 :: Frame 1 Size Grows Even Though Preloader Is Small File Size
Jun 24, 2011I made a preloader for my single scene movie and although the preloader is about 16k, when placed into frame 1 of the movie and tested, the frame is shown to have about 256k, which is larger than the movie it's loading. I've gone through all the files and made sure that export in frame 1 is not checked and made sure the publish settings also are set to export in frame 1.

Jul 8, 2009I hired someone else to do the scripting for an animation that I originally created. It calls an xml file which displays 3 different items in the flash. It works great... except when I open the FLA file and republish it even if I don't change a single thing, the resulting SWF file does not work. I've tried everything to no avail. The script writer is using CS3. I am using CS4 although I HAVE tried with CS3 (on different computer). Both the script writer and myself work on Macs. The script writer even sent screen shots of the publish windows, and I'm selecting all the exact same options. (version 9, AS2). Has anyone else run into this type of problem? I'm at witt's end. I really need to be able to make changes to this file and republish it. I can post the FLA file if someone wishes to take a look.

May 7, 2011I have edited the pageflip script and file to suit what I need to do and my issue is not related to the usual addition of pages or content etc... but is to do with publishing the file. I have increased the sizes of the page from what they are in the original file and this is where the issue lies because when I come to publish the file as an exe the content no longer seems to fit the window when published and you have to expand the viewer. The instructions for quite a lot of the pageflip is there and pretty easy to decipher however outputting/publishing the file seems to be unclear.
Can somone please point me in the right direction for resizing the stage or changing the settings so that the published file shows all the content without the need to resize the window?

SWFUpload - latest release 03/2010, documentation
fancyupload - looks buggy.
phpfileuploader - looks heavyweight, and looks commercial (?) I cannot read the licence (you can download it but are you allowed to use it forever without paying?) plupload New version of pure javascript (no flash) Valums' ajax upload claims to handle file size limit and progress bar, which is quite suspicious to me: these features require to guess the file size before the upload, which seems impossible in javascript (look also here). Or can it work?
Professional :: 5.5 "Save As" Reverting To Original File After Publishing?
Jun 10, 2011I create a file in 5.5, then do a "save as" to create a new file based on the previous file. Make the changes, save it, publish it. Reopen the fla file, and it is not what I saved - it's the file it was "saved as". Needless to say this makes me very unhappy, as I must redo each file again. Sometimes that fails again! May go back to v5.
