I'm trying to make a movie clip follow my mouse. I have that working. But I want to designate a specific area where this the following of the cursor happens. Outside of this area the house would be visible and functional normally. startDrag("myMovieclip", true);
Mouse.hide();

I have created a small flash movie where the eyes of the character follow the cursor. Its based on this one here Only problem is, it only works while the mouse is actually over the movie. Is there any way to increase the sensitive area to the whole screen without increasing the actual size of the movie?

I found several tutorials that work great for having movie objects follow the mouse but I haven't been able to find one that restricts it to only a certain area. This is one of the tutorials that I was looking at: http:[url].......What I basically want to do is have this hanging lamp tilt either left or right depending or where the mouse comes from.

I made a code which gives function to an object follow the mouse within an specific area. Just check the code and try to improve it.
Code:
this.onEnterFrame = function() {
if (bg_mc.hitTest(_root._xmouse, _root._ymouse, true)) {
positionX = _root._xmouse;

I have a .fla set up right now that places ball randomly around the screen. However I would like to be able to set the coordinates of the range for the objects(particles) placement to the boundaries of a shape. I am starting with a circle for the moment, but I can't figure out how to set the range of object placement to that of an MC. I was planning on somehow calculating this out but I am stumped. Is there a better way for me to draw a shape, and somehow use a mask in as3 to define where the particles can no be placed?

I have some info boxes that show up upon MOUSE_OVER of an MC. I set their position to mouseX and mouseY once I want them to appear. The problem is that when I mouse over something near the edge of my stage, the info box appears beyond the stage's bounds. Is there a way I can contrain the infobox X,Y so that it does not go off the state?
Right now, this is how I define the X,Y of the text box (pretty simple).
trlinfotxt.x = mouseX;trlinfotxt.y = mouseY;

I am trying to get an object to follow the mouse cursor only when the cursor is within a certain range of the object.
I would also like the object to stop when the cursor is directly over it, so that it becomes a selectable button.
Lastly, I would like to apply this to many objects, that don't overlap, but rather, "bounce off" of one another. An example of this is at

The code I have so far is:
ball_mc.onEnterFrame = function() {
var xMouse = _root._xmouse;
var yMouse = _root._ymouse;

"ball_mc" of course, is the instance name of the object that I have created.

So far I have this code for an object to follow the cursor on stage and change direction. Is it possible for the amount of objects to increase over time to follow the cursor?
stage.addEventListener (Event.ENTER_FRAME, onFrame);
function onFrame (evt:Event):void {
/*code here*/
myObj.rotation = Math.atan2 (myObj.y - mouseY, myObj.x - mouseX) * (180 / Math.PI) + 180;

In my file, I've replaced the cursor with a custom cursor of a pencil.It roams around the screen and on mouse over, triggers various actions. While it moves, I'd really like it to draw, so the user has more of an active role in the narrative. Is there a way to do this?

I want to make a mc stick to a cursor from the start and then drop the mc.So far I know how to make a mc follow the cursor and drag and drop a mc.I need an AS3 code for "dropping" a mc at a position (cursor must transform into regular arrow again)The position the cursor needs to snap to is another mc - it should be the nearest, so the distance needs to be measured. So the position is not a grid, but the mc's is can be dropped onto are always on the same positions.

I know how to make something follow the cursor (e.g. a ball that moves where your cursor does). However, I'm having a lot of trouble figuring out how to do what I need to for an animation, namely make eyes follow a cursor.Here's the situation: I need to make a graphic (the eye in the middle of the eyeball) follow the cursor (i.e. look up, look left, look in any number of diagonal directions) depending on where the user moves the cursor. But the eyes, obviously, need to stay put in one static spot and move in a very limited region (the entire white part of the eye, but not beyond it).
Furthermore, the eyes start out staring at the user. How do I additionally make them dart to the edges where they'll be looking around once the cursor is moved?

This was harder than I thought (or could it be my lack of knowledge in AS ) Anyhow, problem: I want my cursor to swap with a costum cursor, go to an defined x and y position from its original position (maby wait a sec.. if possible) an then go back to where ever my original cursor position may be. Did I get that right haha. A sample is in the begining of this [URL] I posted a fla with cursor and position. (screaming from th bottom of a swedih well, and they're deep)

I'm fairly new to using ActionScript to move MovieClips around. I'd like to have a movieclip follow my mouse around the screen (like a mouse cursor). I put one instance of the MC on my stage, with an instance name of 'a', without quotes. (identifier is 'box', class is 'boxClass', without quotes.)

This doesn't work, which should be apparent since I'm posting this. (lol) How can I tell my movieClip to follow the user's mouse?

I have a menu for a website in flash where, an mc moves up and down and shoots...so that when the projectile MC hits a button, it clicks it.
1.) How do I make it so that the MC follows the mouse (like a custom cursor)..but is restricted to only going vertically
2.) how would you make it so that the mc can shoot anywhere....but when the fired MC hits a button, it acts as if it was clicked? My AS knowledge...is..very basic...so if you have any free time could you explain the codes?...so that I can learn from this...rather then just stealing your codes... but..if you want to just let me copy and paste...thats cool too

I am using a movie clip with graphics as a cursor.
However, it appears that the actual 'hit' area of the movie clip is related to specifically the normal arrow cursor.
I would like to be able to define an area of the graphic, in this case it's a hand holding a billy club so I'd like just the tip of the billy club the 'hit area.'
Is this possible via AS2.0?

I have a flash cs3 file where I want a mask to move on the y axis (up and down) when the user is scrolling over the navigation area.
In my code, I have:
maskMC.startdrag();
How do I limit the area where the mask will move, then make it return it back to it's original position when the user moves away from the specific area (in this case the navigation).

My problem is that my final .swf is embedded onto an html page and stretches for the entire width of the users screen. This means that if they have a particularly high resolution, the width of the .swf file stretches significantly beyond the initial stage settings. I'm okay with this, as I really need the .swf to fill the width of the screen.
However, it means that the cursor is able to be pointed more than 100% left or right of the stage, causing the panning image to move further left or right than it should.
What I need to know is how to get around this. I'm assuming I could set a boundary at the left and right of the stage where the code wouldn't be active?
Here's my code:
Code:
this.onMouseMove = function() {
constrainedMove(bg_mc, 4, 1);
constrainedMove(fg_mc, 4, 1);
[Code].....

I'd like to be able to use a pencil image (custom cursor?) to draw in a defined area - its the 'ol pencil drawing a line idea on a pad. I don't know how to define the area? I've tried creating either a btn or mc instance called pad_mc & trying rollOver/Out which confines the pen but not the line. This is what I have so far, which works (ie it draws the line) but obviously it goes everywhere, not just over the mc of the pad.
Code:
createEmptyMovieClip("Line",1);
Line.lineStyle(1, 0x666666, 65);
onMouseDown = function () {
Mouse.hide();
pen_mc.startDrag(true);
[Code] .....
Also, I've got an onClipEvent on my pen_mc to try & define where its allowed to be dragged.

I have a Flash interaction where I exchange the cursor for a hand holding a flashlite mc. The entire stage is black. The cursor drags a mask around that illuminates a small image in another mc on the stage that the user has to find (illuminate).2 problems
1. When the mouse is rolled outside the stage, the custom cursor is still visible.
2. When imported into Captivate 3, and I move outside the stage and over buttons for navigation, the cursor is no longer visible, for the rest of the Captivate movie.
Desired functionality:Custom cursor to be visible only when on the stage area and the normal cursor to be visible outside the stage area. The stage area is 400x330.[code]

Hope anyone who's I want to change the pointer cursor to custom movieclip when mouseover different invisible buttons. These buttons are mainly forward & backward button for my gallery. I got some help from other site but still unsolved. Please take a look at my fla attachment to point out what's wrong with the coding. To elaborate a little bit more as what I wish to achieve you can take a look at the sample URL...I just need the pointer cursor to turn to custom mc when it mouseover the hit area of the respective buttons.
