IDE :: Cache A Movieclip That Contains An External Image?

Apr 2, 2009

I'm having trouble trying to cache a movieclip that contains an external image that I have successfully loaded. My problem is that the fade function that is running when after the image is duplicated doesn't appear to be affecting the mc that contains the cached image.Is there a handler that I can use to ensure that the bitmap is attached inside the movie clip before I run my fade in, or do I have to beware of a timing issue and delay running the setInterval for the fade in?

bmppopulatedClip.onLoadInit = functiontoRun; or something?

Here's my code that doesn't work:

Code:
Stage.scaleMode = 'noScale';
Stage.align = 'TL';
import flash.display.*;[code].....

As3 :: Cache Image With It?

Nov 24, 2010

This is my first post here in StackOverFlow, and I bring you a problem that is hauting my development team.

We are in a project, using stand alone FlashPlayer as a news displayer.The news feed is a dynamic XML returned from a ASP.Net request and runs on Windows XP.

The problem is:- The display is running in a bus screen and sometimes the internet connection fails, but we still need to keep displaying images from the news already downloaded. When we manually put a string on a URLRequest it works. The image is downloaded from the server, cached by the IE8, and re-loaded from cache if the internet is gone. But, when we dynamic retrieve the image url from de XML and puts inside de the URLRequest method, the re-load from cache do not work.[code]...

Clear Image Cache At Runtime?

May 20, 2011

I have an issue with downloading an image from a URL that is not getting updated at runtime. I'm using a URLLoader to download the file initially at the start of the app from some URL, then later on there is a call to the server which re-compiles the image into something else. After that the image is being downloaded again from the exact same URL, but as far as I can tell it's not getting the updated version, but is getting it from the cache that flash creates.

If I restart the application after doing all of this it gets the correct image when it downloads at startup, but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get it to download the correct image at runtime. Does anyone have any idea how this can be accomplished?

does anyone know a good way of unloading content from loader object? I want to load a same image few times (backend overwrites old images with new ones) and all I get is bitmap data that is initialy being loaded the first time. So I guess bitmapData is stuck in cache by default and I cant get rid of it. I tried following:

loader.unload()
loader.contentLoaderInfo.content.unload() before each load() call
setting loader object to null

The thing is that I don't want to store the image after being loaded a first time, but while the application is being loaded. For that, I've created a function that is called by the application pre-initialize event. This is how it looks:

ActionScript 1/2 :: Preload External Files Into Player Cache?

Dec 2, 2009

I've created a portfolio with animated image buttons and arrows navigation (all nested movie clips). All navigation is handled using goAndStop() at frame labels. The site has a lot of image content, so to keep the initial swf download reasonably brief, I've used many separate (renamed) instances of loader component.I assume the loader component is just graphical substitute for typing in the loadMovie() command for people like myself who are inexperienced with scripting.

With normal server traffic and T1 level bandwidth the lag time after click is 1-2 secs.
Acceptable, but sometimes it gets up to 5+ seconds, which compromises the user experience (and might cost me a client). Is there a command string I can insert into a frame in the actions layer at the start of the timeline (after progress bar) to preload all external files into the player's cache after runtime begins?

Professional :: External Image Loading Into MovieClip On Stage

Oct 18, 2010

I am trying to load an external .swf (actually it is only an image that I published as a swf file, not a complicated movie) but I get errors. I am trying to load the .swf into a movieclip and the movieclip appears on the stage. I have put the code in frame 1 where the image should appear (in the movieclip). The code that I used is below and works fine with a .jpg and when I load it directly on the stage, that is to say, when I put the code in a frame on the stage. Why does it not 'work' right now?

I have added 'parent' in 'parent.event.target.content.y = 200;' in the first frame of the movieclip timeline, to make sure that it will appear on the (main)stage. The error that i get is this one:
TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.
at galerie2010_fla::mcBallon1_11/frame1()

This is the code in frame 1 in mcBallon1:
var imageRequest1a:URLRequest = new URLRequest("images/SWFoverig/ballon1_702x368.swf");
var imageLoader1a:Loader = new Loader();
imageLoader1a.load(imageRequest1a);
addChild(imageLoader1a);
imageLoader1a.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, onComplete1a);
function onComplete1a(event:Event):void{
parent.event.target.content.y = 200;
parent.event.target.content.x = 205;}

ActionScript 3.0 :: Cache / Copy Bitmaps Loaded From External Source?

Feb 15, 2010

I'm working on a chat application that retreives user profile icons from remote sources (e.g. Blogger, Yahoo, Gravatar, etc). Easy to get the images in a Loader and display them. The problem is that a single thread could have hundreds of records, but probably only 10-20 active commenters. In a standard browser, each <img...> link after the first one is cached, so you only hit the source site once. Is there any way to cache/store/copy those images within Flash to avoid requesting the same image over and over?

I can do it in the Local sandbox by accessing the BitmapData of the loader content and cloning a new bitmap for subsequent instances of the same request URL, but of course once the application moves to the Internet the security system requires a Policy file allowing bitmap access. I don't need to manipulate the bitmap at all, just copy it. Or reference it as content from multiple Sprites, or something along that line. Once I've downloaded the image once, I don't see why the security system would prevent me from displaying it unchanged as many times on the page as needed.

ActionScript 1/2 :: Load External Image To Fla Library As MovieClip Symbol Using It?

Mar 10, 2011

I have been working on code updation project wherein initially we had an image and text as movieclips in fla library. The image and the text are read by the actionscript program which then creates an animation.[code]...

I want to ease the updation process by giving the url of the image in an XML file. Read the image url from the xml and load this image in the library of the fla as movieclip. This, i think, will result in less code change and improve the updation of the final animation image.

The problem i am facing is not been able to figure out how can i change the image (after fetching its URL) to a movieclip and then load it in the library?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Replace Some Code Which Loaded An External Image And Triggered And Function Once Completed With Code That Uses And Embedded Image?

Jun 10, 2009

I am trying to replace some code which loaded an external image and triggered and function once completed with code that uses and embedded image. The relevant code looks like this.

Code:

[Embed(source='globe.png')]
public function Globe()
{
var imageLoader:Loader = new Loader();

[code]....

The commented out section is where it used to take the loaded image and apply it to a texturemap.I need to replace the lines of code in the first function with something that calls the second function correctly.

I have tried using function imageLoadComplete (e:Event = null)and calling it with imageLoadComplete(); in the first function but although it compile and runs without error, the program does not work properly. I suspect this is to do with the dispatchEvent(); line which I do not understand.
