Matrices Exist On Vertex Registers Other Than Vertex Constants In AGAL?

Jan 23, 2012

I've mostly seen examples where a Matrix3D object is passed as a vertex constant register in AS3 to the Context3D object. But never seen a matrix in any other types of registers (temporary or attribute).Would there be any way to copy a Matrix vertex constant to a temporary register, and then manipulate individual fields of that Matrix temporary register (ex:for the rotation), with other supplied values (vertex attributes or other constants)

Flash - Multiple A Vertex By Two Matrices?

Mar 28, 2011

I'm trying to understand molehill and would like to multiple a vertex by two matrices, say:

output = theVertex * scaleMatrix * rotationMatrix

Im guessing my vertex shader would look something like:

"m44 vt0, va0, vc0
" +
"mul op, vt0, vc1
";

And i would set the matrices with

context3d.setProgramConstantsFromMatrix(Context3DProgramType.VERTEX, 0, scaleMatrix);
context3d.setProgramConstantsFromMatrix(Context3DProgramType.VERTEX, 1, rotationMatrix);

But its not working.Im aware that i could multiple the matrix before putting on the shader, but i am trying to understand AGAL.

Flash :: Can Constants (vertex Or Fragment) Be Reset / Nullified In Context3D

Jan 17, 2012

If I make multiple draw calls for various Program3D instances, is there a way that I can reset or nullify the constants if I'm no longer using them in the next following Program3D assignment?

Is it even necessary that I do something like this?

//Nullify 'vc0' in the vertex shader:
context3D.setProgramConstantsFromVector("vertex", 0, null);

ActionScript 3.0 :: Render From Multiple Vertex Buffers?

Apr 18, 2012

Is there a way to render multiple vertex buffers in AS3?Right now I have two objects which I want to render, but the only way I can think to do it is to concatenate the raw vertex data (of both objects) and then set that (concatenated) vector as the vertex buffer.I would prefer to do this as 2 separate vertex buffers, but I don't know how to render from more than one vertex buffer.

Flash :: AGAL And Varying Register

Dec 20, 2011

I store a UV-coord from va1 to v1. In the frag shader, an interpolated texture coordinate now is available in v1 to sample. Are there connections under the hood, like semantics, to associate v1 with being the normal coordinates?Are fragments pushed to the fragment shader per triangle or once an entire mesh's geometry vertices are run through?In the vertex shader, let's say I multiply my modelview by my vertex's position. I then want to share my z-coord with the fragment shader for something else. I store the z-cord of the transformed vector into v3. Once I am in the fragment shader and I access v3 for the z-coord, is this the same z-coord I passed in or is this z-coordinate going to be altered by the perspective divide in between? I only ask as I want to clarify the "interpolating" behavior described when storing values in these registers.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Collision Detection - Rotation And Matrices

Nov 23, 2009

I am using Corey Oneil's collision detection kit, but I am having a problem with rotation. In my code I have:
myItem.rotationY = 180;

However, during a collision detection, having it rotated like this causes an error with this line:
transMatrix1.concat(currentObj.parent.transform.ma trix);
The error is simply "Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference."

I have not really worked with matrices and rotation. Do I need to make a matrix rather than just doing the rotationY or should I change something else? I cannot manually change the movie clip because it throws off the animation and armatures.

See here for example: [URL] The flower on the left is the original, the flower on the right is the new image created using "bitmapData.draw()". It has been scaled up to twice the size, but I want this to happen from the center of the image.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Embedded Fonts - Automatically Registers The Font Using The Font.registerFont Method

Nov 13, 2009

I have generated an swf file that contains my embedded font of specified Unicode range, then I am loading this swf into my application. The code in the generated file for the font, automatically registers the font using the Font.registerFont method. I then load this swf file into my application, I never add it to the display list, I just created an instance of the file so that the code is executed to register the font.

Then I use the font name when I create embedded text fields and there you go it works... well it used to, I am not having any luck at the moment though. Sometimes it displays fine, other times it all appears cut off and I see a few pixels of the text I am trying to display.... Anyone else had a similar issue? Know what it might be? I have created a class below that I am using for the embedded font text, any issues people see with this?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Can Constants Be Compiled Inline

Oct 16, 2011

I just found out that it is executed like a normal variable at runtime. Typically constants are supposed to be 'inlined'........ so when you write this:

ActionScript Code:
const SPEED:int = 5;
o.x += SPEED;

...you should get this in the SWF:

ActionScript Code:
o.x += 5;

...but when I decompile my SWF I get this:

ActionScript Code:
const SPEED:int = 5;
o.x += SPEED;

Is there a way to force the Flex compiler to inline constants in AS3?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Static Class Constants Be Too Slow ?

Feb 23, 2011

I am working on a Flash site template for which I am implementing the possibility for the users to change the theme dynamically while the site is opened.Basically, the site will have a few themes available and when the user selects a new theme, all of the site objects will change their properties (colors, alpha, fonts, etc) to fit the new theme.

And my questions is what is the best approach to sending the theme information to all of the objects in the site.I was thinking of making a static class called "Theme" and when the objects need a property, they will call a static getter of the Theme class that will return the appropriate property value for the object.But, from my understanding, static properties are quite slow and seeing that I may need quite a lot of them, maybe more that 100 for the whole site, will this approach be too slow ?
