Media Server :: Way To Check Stats On Bit Rate Versions Streamed?

Apr 10, 2012

Does anyone know if Flash Media Server has a function that allows you to see statistics on which particular streams are being delivered?Seems like that would be a handy tool in determining which bitrates are important to continue providing, and which are superfluous, and if it's time to try encoding at higher bit rates.

Media Server :: FMS Streamed From Public IP Address?

Mar 24, 2010

I have Flash Media Server, and I think it's free edition coz i dont input serial number when i installed it..I have problem to have people stream from my pc, there's a public IP address assigned/mapped to a development PC here..I'm able to stream it locally from my computer, fyi, my computer is using windows XP and the development PC is using windows 2003 server..and there's an apache webserver already installed there..

1. if i dont install the apache server bundled with the FMS, is it okay? I dont intend to stream through port 80...

2. what is the difference between port 1935 and 19350? I saw 2 files in the FMS directory, namely fms.ini and Adaptor.xml in fms.ini it binds to 1935, but in adaptor.xml it binds to 19350...

3. in adaptor.xml there one value like this:

<HostPort name="edge1" ctl_channel="localhost:19350">${ADAPTOR.HOSTPORT}</HostPort>

there's an explanation in above it that it binds to some ip we configure here, but if you wanna bind to any ip then omit the localhost and leave it like ":19350" my question is that is this necessary to do so in order for people outside our network to connect the development PC ?

4. about security at the proxy server or ISP, I've confirmed with my boss that he's opened the port 1935 to be allowed, and he's also confirmed with the ISP that they dont block port 1935..

Media Server :: Webcam Frame Rate, NetStream Frame Rate, Flv Framerate?

Apr 25, 2010

I'm recording Webcam to FMS 3.5 but when I play the recorded video from FMS it's choppy. I have set the camera.fps to 30 but when I trace out the currentFPS for camera it's variable and usually falls between 20 and 30. However when I play the recorded video, netStream's currentFPS returns a lower value, something closer to 10. So my question is, 1) why currentFPS of netStream is not the same as Camera's? 2) What's the actual frame rate of the recorded video (not the netStream, but FLV's)?

Media Server :: Make 3 Different Versions From One Live Stream?

Mar 27, 2009

We purchased the Flash Media Interactive Server 3.5 a few days ago and everything is running smoothly. We have a website where users can stream live and other users can see the live stream can sign in and broadcast in live. Other users can see the live stream. This is already working. However we would like to use the Dynamic Streaming's capability. We have users who have low-band and have other ones who have broadband Internet connection. We already know how to determine the users' speed and offer them the best suitable stream. But! The problem is that how we are supposed to make 3 different versions from one live stream? Yes, I know that we can use the Live Encoder to do the job but the thing is that we don't want our users to install anything on their computer.

Is there a way to do some server-side AS to produce three different quality version from one live stream? Or is it possible to integrate the Live Encoder in the background to do this?If not, then I suppose the only way we can solve this problem if our users stream 2 different versions at the same time, a low-band and a broadband. However I'm not sure that this would work and also it would require some amount of bandwidth from the streaming users' side. So I would like to avoid this solution. Is there a way to do this encoding procedure in the background? With recorded videos it's not a big deal, we can use ffmpeg but we are just stuck with this live stream encoding.

Media Server :: Bandwidth Check (bwCheck) And Bitrate?

Oct 9, 2010

we are using RTMP with Flowplayer with dynamic bitrate switching and I'm a bit confused on the bitrate (kbps) that is called out in the code in order to configure the bandwidth check.  I presume that this is the target bitrate if encoding using ABR or constant.  How about for the rest of us that are using CRF?  My understanding is that CRF is the way to go now for H264 (don't want to hijack the thread to a CRF vs ABR discussion).  If we are using CRF, can we guess on the target bitrate that is called out in the bwcheck plugin?

Actionscript 3 :: Streamed PNG Using URLStream Intermittent When Server Is Bogged?

Dec 14, 2011

In my case I need to be able to cancel loading as the user could possibly be scrolling through alot of images and the if not canceled it can take a few minutes to catch up to the scroll position. So after research the URLStream class seems to cure this problem and I found a good streaming class hereThis class works very nice except when there is heavy load on the server causing lag. When this lag happens the class will dispatch the complete event yet the image will not show.Watching the download with HTTPFox shows the image in fact does get loaded.

I assume there is some kind of delayed issue with the URLStream class and the author of this class tried to correct it using the setTimeout method. I also tried delaying the dispatching of the complete event using a timer and not dispatching until if( this.width != 0 ) was detected and this seemed to work much better. But it is still haunting me just not as often.

Media Server :: FLVPlayback Component's NcMgr.netConnection Is Null When Connecting To My Flash Media Server?

Jan 13, 2010

I'm trying to troubleshoot a Flash Media Server working with a little video playback application I wrote a few years ago that has suddenly stopped working.I'm using CS3/Actionscript 3.My app uses the FLVPlayback Component, and was working well last time I checked.  I recevied a report that the videos stopped working, and have been looking into it.I figured I'd add a bunch of event listeners to the FLVPlayback's ncMgr.netConnection so I could get debug info on things like io errors, net status, etc.The problem I'm running into is that the netConnection is null when I set it to anything on my Flash Media Server, and adding any event listeners to this netConnection throws errors. Here's what I've tried so far:

Playback of a local FLV file works fine.In the FLVPlayback documentation, I found an example and stole the URL of the stream they were using in the example, and that works fine, although it is an HTTP protocol stream rather than RTMP.Any attempt to access FLV files on my Media Server, which has worked fine in the past, basically cause the FLVPlayback object to sit and hang in "buffering" mode and never progresses beyond this point. The netConnection object in this case is null. Here's my code:[code]........

Again the purpose of this is to troubleshoot the video streaming from the Flash Media Server, and it seems like there is no netconnection to the server being created.Does this mean that the server is not working, or is there a problem with the way I'm trying to access the content on the server? This was all working fine before, and I have set up the server-side application .ASC files and such to allow things to work fine on the server end.

Flash :: Media Server - Send Video And Audio Data To A Media Server By Using RTMP Protocol

Jul 22, 2010

I'm trying to make a software which sends video and audio data to a flash media server by using RTMP protocol. Currently, my program can communicate with a flash media server correctly. RTMP specifications does not describe about the raw data in video/audio messages, so I muxed raw H.264 and AAC data into video/audio messages and sent to the server. The server seems to accept them, but a video player cannot playback the stream sending from the server. The player just says "Loading..." For a test purpose, I sniffed the network packets between Wirecast and the flash media server and ripped off only video and audio data. Then, I muxed those data into video/audio message and sent to the flash media server. In this case, the video player connected to the server can playback the stream correctly.

I checked the stream sent from Wirecast, the stream seems not to be H.264 raw data because those data are not started from 0x17 instead of H.264 start code. With those situation, I am wondering what kind of container format I should use for H.264/AAC data to the flash media server.
