I have this problem with text set to bitmap text rendering. With fonts like pixel fonts like standard 07_51, Kroeger etc. I can't get them to show the right accents. This shows on stage and in runtime and it occurs with static, dynamic fields and input fields. When I choose anti-aliasing then it's ok, but that isn't the purpose with those pixel fonts, right? I've set the correct font-embedding settings.
I checked it on two computers with Flash CS4 v10 on MacOS X 10.6.2, Belgian Keyboard, FontExplorer Pro for font management.
I'm working on a Flash presentation, and I have a lot of text pages with buttons and movie clips on. The problem I have is that all subheads are set to size 35pt using Helvetica Neue Heavy, but on a couple of the pages a random subhead is displaying a lot larger than 35pt (I'd say 50pt) but it is definitely set to size 35pt in the Character palette. I have no idea why this is happening and it's driving me mad.
I have a MovieClip inside a stage that is mostly(not accurately) centered to the middle of the stage.
When I try to save the MovieClip into a bitmap in order to upload it to facebook, I either get a cropped image or a white image(blank). Here is the code for generating the bitmap:

I'm trying to export my movie clip into an image, everything works fine but when the user draws in negative coordinates, the draw bitmap command doesn't get my movieclip as I need, here's a graphic explanation of what's going on:As you can see the user can draw in any part of my movie clip (black border), the 0,0 coordinates are in this example located in the black spot. when I get the bounds of my object I get correct values (in this case i get negative x and y and the correct width and height), but when I apply the draw bitmap command what its captured is the area represented with the red border, the height and width values are correct but it captures from the 0,0 coordinates and not from the coordinates I want! anyone? i have a dead line approaching.this is the code:

The original flash has a publish setting to Flash Player 5, and I have to have the publish setting set to Flash Player 8 (actionscript 2). The original flash works with the Flash Player 5 setting however when I change it the rollover text to picture stops working.
Is there a way to write a bitmap font right into the bitmap being desplayed? Mabey better worded: myBitmap.draw(image, t) draws a picture is there a way to draw text? I'm stuck even if its just a work around in some way I would like to know... (the current work around i have in my head is writing it in a movieclip turning that into bitmap data and drawing it... esentially creating a prototype answering my question... but a built in way would be easier probably).
I am learning flash and recently bought a flash template so I could see how it was structured etc. The vertical menu on the flash template plays fine when ran locally but when I upload it to the web the text on the vertical menu doesnt all show (i.e. the text is half cut off).
for a school project i just have to create some product etc on adobe flash... I got a video, dynamic text that doesnt seem to show up when i click on the exe file after publishing..
Ive created a empty movie clip then tied it in to a bitmap that exists in the library called "red" (I made it available for export). The bitmap does not show at all, when run. I don't want to use the function attachMovie.

I'm doing an AIR/FLASH PROJECTOR random bitmap application. The bitmaps(pictures) are stored in a server. In my application, there are 1 button 'ROLL', which will toggle the randomly picking of butmap and show them out.
Q1:Currently, I'm able to retrieve the picture from server when I clicked the 'ROLL' button and show it on flash stage, but how do I set a limit to stop the same bitmap from showing up again and again on my next roll? (it should only show up 1 time)
Q2:The other issue that I dont know how to create an animation every 0.5second, changing the picture to another picture (trying to show the thrilling feeling).For example, when I clicked the ROLL button, the application will randomly pick 1 picture and some other pictures to do a simple animation. The picture will keep changing at an interval of 0.1seconds or so, and will slow down to interval of 0.2seconds, and slow down again and again. Finally, after doing that animation for like 5seconds or so, the "randomly picked picture" will show up. And this randomly picked picture will not show up again at the next roll.
On any flash site that I have found on the internet with an input field, it is not possible to input an accent using my mac. Create an input text field on the stage and publish the fla, then view it in a browser. If you try to input an accent in the .swf, it works fine (� : option-e, release, push e again), but if you try to do it in a browser the accent does not appear. (This seems to work fine for a pc, though its a different input code).

I am writing a screen scroller for a game I'm making. There's a BitmapData object which holds the background graphic, yet I do not want to show/render it on screen all at once.
For example, I want to show only a 500x500 section of the data but the entire BitmapData is 1000x1000. I wanted to use the scroll() method to scroll the data but my problem is that I cannot restrict how much of the BitmapData is drawn on the Bitmap. I tried setting the height/width properties of the BitmapData to 500x500 (and draw all the 1000x1000), but any data drawn beyond the boundaries I defined is not really drawn.
Another option I considered is to store a different BitmapData object which holds the entire data, and then use copyPixels() from it to the one used on the Bitmap itself, although then I cannot use scroll() and have to use different methods to achieve scrolling.
I need to show a thumbnail of the image from my local system. So far, I am able to achieve that using Loader class and its working fine for .jpg .gif and .png extensions. But, the same is not working for neither .bmp nor .tif files. I came to know that Loader class is not capable of doing this operation. [code]...

While I'm just a beginner right now it/I'm an experienced computer user and I have really enjoyed/but when I'm looking at it now I'm trying to use flash to edit a website template, for example monster templates. I bought a template from the site and nine trying to edit it now and well it just seems like it's a very very long process to do something kind of where I just want to look at the page and I want to edit the text and only I go to bed doesn't seem to be the case. So I'll show you what I mean.
When I'm using the program and I'm in Adobe flash I'm looking now at the screen inside the program and there's no text I see the graphics images and there's no text and also is that some type of way where it's easy to navigate link to link where I can just edit the text what supposed to be in there rather than search for the funeral push page up and down until I come across just a white background with tax and then have to edited which is pretty confusing because I don't know where that's located but I the general idea that if you change it but surely there must be an easier way.
So basically I'm including a screenshot that shows you exactly what I'm talking about. Basically once again I'm in fashion items Sandy text so it's kinda hard to see what was going on or whatever so you can see the snow text located in the thing but however when I publish the file yeah you can see the text and everything I'm kinda looking for some type of you well be able to see this and just edited really. I know there are other programs out there like SWF edited her or quick note to some like that. But I really wanted to use flash, unexperienced Photoshop user and I really love all Adobe products and I really think that this is the master program to use however I'm really don't want it as of right now it's been about 40 days and nine still a bit lost navigating through the program will I'm just really just China entities tax bills and just go through the site. Now I realize I should have the respect for beautiful program like this and it's not been a be set up to the way that I'm hoping it Siskind be a point-and-click editor I understand that. I'm just wondering if anybody has any type suggestions or perhaps of I'm missing something which is fantastic.
I have built a website that contains two flash galleries on two separate pages.Each .swf galllery is meant to call a separate xml, loading the relevant text and images.The galleries work perfect when using Firefox-windows, Firefox-mac and Safari and on my local machine(macbook)The galleries do not work using IE-windows, the problem being it loads both galleries with the same xml. I am trying to embed an f4v file into Flash CS5, however the program won't accept the file I've tried renaming the extension and removing the audio stream. The only thing that seems to work is if its a TRUE flv file using VP6 and with a .flv extension.The documentation here regarding embedding flv/f4v mentions the ability to embed either file formats:I have found no positive results on google and there doesn't seem to be a Flash Jira for bug tracking.
I am working on a large batch of banners with another designer. We are both using the same assets, the same version of Flash (CS4) and are both working on Macs. We are also both using the same fonts through Universal Type Client yet when I open files that he has produced the text elements display lower down than they should. If I align them correctly on my machine and then give back the file the text appears too high when he opens it. There are no font errors when the files are opened and the characters display fine except for the alignment. Does anyone know what might be causing this in Flash or is it an issue with the fonts themselves?
As I didn't find another place for Flash Player 10.1 standalone-subjects (only 10.2. or the browser-players),When I open my .swf with double-click from the finder, it opens in FP 10.1. - but an _older_ project (which is located in a completely different place) will load! And it opens twice No matter, what new .swf I am creating, it's always this old file that will start.When opening the same .swf in FPlayer 9, it works fine.
We are working on this website for a danish jewelry designer, and i wanted the headlines to be a special font, so i made this flash file with a dynamic text field, displaying a variable.Everything worked fine, untill we had to use danish chars like It is very strange, it seems like it works just fine in IE but Firefox is just displaying stupid things like ?? and stuff..check out this link ( make sure to see it in both IE and Firefox ) and notice the top text saying lvringe
I have a project set up as scenes.In scene 1 there are two buttons visible from the frame 1licking on these takes us to scene 3 or 4. They work fine. I used code snippet "Click to Go to Scene and Play" the action script is on a keyframe on frame 1 as that is the first frame the buttons appear.From frame 120 a third button appears. So on this frame I have actionscript go to and play scene 5.Problem is it goes to scene 3 instead, like the firstbutton. The buttons are not near each other on screen so its not a case of accidentally clicking wrong button.I think maybe I should've set up my project as movie clips within 1 timeline but I'm too far down the scene route now to change it at this stage.the buttons are all invisible so maybe the third button should also be present from frame 1 and just disabled until frame 120?
The loading screen in the beginning is supposed to use a special font that I've downloaded. I can see this font on my system when I test the live site online on my system, but when I get on other systems (which don't have the font on their system) it displays a default font, usually Times New Roman or the like.
I'm just wondering if there is a way to embed the font somehow so it uses the font I've chosen for it to use.
I have a movieclip with static text inside of it. The width (correct one) of the movieclip is 204 px, this is what it even reports after dragging it from library to stage. However, if I export the movie and trace the width of the movieclip, I get 214 px. Inside of the clip is a static text field - it is not wider than the clip and it is not even filled up with text completely. Now if I change it to dynamic text and I export the movie, I get the correct width - 204.
I am trying to load in a text file into a flash movie which has some HTML formatting to it - there's very little i can find out about this on the web - it kinda works..

If you have two textareas, one has a rotation value besides 0 and the other has no rotation value or a value of 0 and you 'tab' focus from the one w/rotation to the one w/out. The border around the textArea w/out rotation will be rotated. If you set the rotation value of the non-rotated text field to a non-zero number, even 0.01, it fixes the problem, this causes tons of other problems in text rendering though so its not a solution.
I found setting the focusThickness style to 0 removes the border, which is a good solution but not a great one, anybody got a better one? Here is some sample code:

when i test, the flash loaded. The code goes through everything and show "SENT" in the flash text box. However, it doesn't seem like it is calling the javascript and change the text in the HTML page.is there something wrong I did? i try the ExternalInteface.call method but doesn't work neither.
