Professional :: *EMERGENCY* Convert Broken Text Into Single Hyperlink?

I have been handed a clients project that goes live tomorrow from the boss who just fired the guy who was working on it. I AM NOT A FLASH EXPERT! If you can walk me through step by step how to do this,I have a Flash (AS3) intro homepage, the index page is already written and setup. A Mask and fill approach was used to create the animated effect in which the text gradually appears. In order to do the fill, the text 'Home' 'About' 'Works' 'Contacts' are all broken apart text (i.e. (H)(O)(M)(E)) Here's what I need to do and would not even know where to start. How do I convert each of the words which are made up of broken text, into navagation buttons as hyperlinks to the other documents in the page (i.e. convert (H)(O)(M)(E) into HOME which you can click on and be taken to index.htm)

I have a flash website template, Fla File as well as all the source files etc, I have some questions if anyone would be kind enough to help. I am new to Fla files so not sure what to do.
There is some text I managed to edit ok, but others I could not, it appears as if they started as text and have been broken apart and made into a shape? when i click you can only highlight each letter, but not change them. There are two of these, one flies in from left, the other from right.

I am trying to use an existing link with a flash file that is functional to also link to another page at the same time. Basically I am using Joomla and I have a flash file that has menus and pictures and such. I want to be able to click on a link within the flash file and still have it do its given function of pulling up an image or opening another menu or whatever the current function of that link is. The problem I am having is that I also want this link when clicked to navigate to a specific url to show aditional content on one of the Joolma pages.when one of the links in the flash file is click and it pulls up a specific image within the flash file.I want it to also pull up text or other content below my flash file that goes along with the image.

I want to do is add a simple hyperlink in my xmlhtml hyperlink in my xml.how to do a hyperlink in xml.This is what I do know,you can add the <a href="http:[url]...but that does not work for me,when i save and preview my fla, it takes away my scroll bar that i have.I have also seen somwhere you can use the <?[[DATA tag, but this aswell doesnt work for me in my FLA, is there somewhere i need to reference hyperlinks before I can modify my xml?

Is it possible to add a ClickTag for tracking purposes to dynamic text (hyperlink) in a scrollbar box in Flash CS5? I have ever only added a ClickTag to a button and/or banner before.

I know it is very easy. Right click> create motion tween> drag to where I would like the text/object to move. But, Sometimes it doesn't seem to work when I drag the text. It will work the first time and for the second text on the frame it won't work. What are the requirements of a motion tween when it comes to text on a single layer in the same frame.

I have 3 different dynamic text boxes filled with an even amount of content and I can link the UIScollBar to one of the boxes just fine, but I can't seem to find a way to make the content in all three boxes scroll simultaneously with a single UIScrollBar?

I've just started working with CS4, and admittedly I'm new to Flash, but I can't get the Scene functionality to work as described in the docs. The class MovieClip has a currentScene property that should return a Scene object. The Flash 10.0 docs give this code as an example :import flash.display.Scene;var scene:Scene =mc1.currentScene;trace(scene.name + ": " + scene.numFrames + " frames"); However, if you create a new ActionScript 3.0 fla file, create a MovieClip instance, name it mc1, and put this exact code in one of the frames, it returns a Scene object with no name and only 1 frame.Changing the name of the scene in CS4 does not . Am I missing something?

I'm trying to update an old CS3 project, which had a dynamic text field with HTML formatted text using the <b> tag to create bold text in places. In the CS4 version the bold text simply doesn't show up. It does in the CS3 version. I have embedded the font in both regular and bold varieties, both by using the offstage empty text field method, and the font in library method. I simply can't get it to work. I've seen other people having this problem with CS4 on other forums, but no solutions or workarounds as yet.

I notice in flash the Modify > Arrange option seems to be buggy and work only sometimes. I have a few shapes on the same layer and wanted to arrange them on top of each other in different order and it doesn't work... The shapes were created with shape tool and pen too as drawing objects.
I would have to go the extreme, either I would have recreate the shape to be recognized by the program or cut and paste into a new layer and transfer back down to the single layered that was needed. illustrator has the exact same option with no problems.

I have an object with 500 Frames. I gave it a Motion Tween. Now I want to cut it down to 100 frames,without changing the Tween duration. Usually you can insert a blank keyframe, or remove the last 400 frames on that layer. But since it's a Motion Tween you cannot?
WTH is going on with Flash's timeline editor, this is ridiculously unintuitive.

I'm trying to make some buttons. Ive made a primitive rectangle and a text object with rosewood std font. Then I put the text over the rectangle the rectangle is a little bigger ussualy about a pixel more in width and height than the text in size. The problem is when I do convert to symbol(Button) the text gets all squished, I have no idea why.

I have an application in flash, I build in ActionScript 3.0 Flash IDE, my application loads some external swfs which mentioned via XML file. Its working fine at the moment. But I need to compile all these external SWFs and xml file into single exe file. How can I compile like this. or how can I code like this?

You can see an example, the application is build in .net and it import pdf and publish it as flash projector or web based(swf). How is it compiling all the external SWF files.

way to show a jpeg image while a Flash file is loading or better, if they don' t have Flash?
Problem is that when people go to a site and they don't have Flash and can't install it (ie: iPhone), they can't see phone numbers, address etc. which is why that came there. It would sure easier to push Flash if there was a way to have an alternate image to view.

I've been trying to set all our movies up to link to shared Font symbols in external libraries. This is working fine in CS5, but in CS5.5 it fails completely. We use AS2, but saving it as AS3 doesn't fix it. I've made a barebones movie with the problem, which you can find at [URL]. What I've done is to create four separate movies, each of which contains one Font symbol that is marked as available for sharing. Then my test movie contains four font symbols each of which is linked to one of these fonts. In CS5 this works fine, and the fonts are replaced at runtime with the externalised fonts; I can also assign these fonts to (AS2) components. In CS5.5, however, the new fonts don't show up at all.

I have 12 display monitors installed in different floors in a building. These monitors display announcements that will be update once in a day. I'm retrieving these announcements from db and storing in an array and displaying it all day long. In addition to this, I have a requirement to display emergency alert messages on the monitors. My Server is a windows 2000 server. I'm using asp for creating the JSON object.
For the emergency alert I am thinking of doing this:
Create a page in asp that lets user to enter emergency msg and save to db.
Create a page in asp that will check if there an emergency msg in db and show it in a asp page in json.
Create a timer that pings this json page every 1 second. If it's available then show it.
Is there any other sophisticated method available to poll the server or to send messages from server to client?

So when I scale text in a tween, it doesn't look at all smooth. I tried to compensate by increasing the frame rate, but even 60fps doesn't fix it. So I'm pretty sure that the scaling is limted to pixels. I immagine I can fix this by converting the text to vector art, so it will scale at less-than-pixel intervals.
Is this a correct solution? If so, how do I do this?

Im trying to make mRNA codon to Amino acid decoder. One that would read, for instance, "UUG UAA" and give you "Leucine STOP". I've been able to create a program that can convert single codons. But can not handle multiple, and only takes the last value. So if I typed "UUG UAA" it would give me STOP. My current code looks like this:

I've used Flash before to create animations but it has been a long time. I've been asked to create a very simple animation using two images, one of a broken PC and one of a fixed PC. I want the broken PC to come in from the left and then fade into the fixed image of the PC which will be centred. I know this is very very simple but I can not for the life of me remember how to do animation, motion tweening etc. I have the two images and I've tried importing them, converting them to movie symbols etc but it doesn't go to plan. The animation needs to be between 1 - 3 seconds long at 12 fps. The document size is 550 x 400, standard I believe. I am using Macromedia Flash 8 Professional.

I've searched all over to try and find a stroke function or a command after I have broken an object, but can't find anything. I want to apply a stroke to multiple frames. use the ink bottle, and do not suggest turning my symbol into a movie clip and adding a glow. This seems like it should be a simple function

I have spent many frustrating hours trying to figure out why this is happening. It is totally broken. I need to use a motion path using 3d in a symbol. Because of the way the project is put together (for Flex) there are several FLAs that need to be converted to symbols.
So when I convert the FLA that contains a motion path with 3D, the object moves away from the path in the symbol (the 1st frame remains in place, but everything else is off the path), even though it remains correct in the main timeline.
And once I start editing the object in the symbol, the object returns to the path ok, as if it had been some strange display issue, but the 3D is all wrong - the vanishing point relative to the object has changed. The same thing happens whether I create the 3D path using "global" or "local" tool settings.

I'm having some trouble with my Flash Professional CS5.5. When I'm doing freehand drawing it shows the edges around every stroke I make. I have tried going to the menu, View -> Hide Edges and also pressing Ctrl+H. It does make the edges go away from the most recent stroke, but at the next stroke it reappears. Flash also started to crash from time to time, kinda randomly starting with not showing me the layers and then crashing completely giving me an error message talking about some file. This started about the same time as the edge thing. How to reset the settings? (I'm doing simple frame by frame animations in a ActionScript 3.0 document, if it's of any importance).

I have an AS3 flash movie and each page is a new frame. On my pages are dynamic scrollable text boxes that I created with the text tool. I would like to be able to make a piece of text a link (ex. click here for prices) so that it will direct the view to another page (label). I cannot figure out how to do so.

I can't seem to figure out the .numLines property. I've tried calling it on a TextField that was created dynamically. The TextField has multiline set to true and wordWrap also set to true. Any clue why it would consistantly report the number 1? It's being called in a trace statement after the htmlText is set to a string from a xml file.
